Addressing the two highest-rated comments: this IS The Strokes, a demo of a song called Obstinate by Albert way back in 2001 or maybe even earlier. However, they didn't get on with it, until Albert dug it out for his first solo record and retitled it to In Transit, in honor of this awesome movie. In the movie there's two more Albert's songs in their demo form (Everyone Gets A Star and, I think, Blue Skies). And I don't think at that time Albert would have demoed them by just himself.
There's no doubt why The Strokes is one of the greatest bands of all time. Look Albert and Fab's compositions that weren't in any albums. They're incredibly good.
I think the reason this song is so nostalgic, apart from its sad tone, is because it ties back to their movie In Transit. And that reminds me of when I first fell in love with their music, and this was back when I was a freshman in high school and times were much simpler. So by listening to this song, I reminisce of easier times. When the Strokes were still a band. When I had just started high school. When problems weren’t really problems. Much simpler times.
I love this song though. It's like honestly if you use it as a mental Soundtrack to any part of your day it will make you feel better. And you can't even explain it, it's just pure joy.
This is "Obstinate" which was an early version of "In Transit" which was used for the Strokes tour Documentary of 2001. Like other members have said Albert did all the music for it. Most of the music was later used for his first solo album. Hope this helps some of y'all!

This is actually from The Stroke "movie" In Transit. It was a documentary of their 2001(?) tour of Europe filmed by the members of the band. Albert wrote and recorded all of the music for the movie.
This is recorded for the film "In Transit", and was called "Obstinate". Later it became well known as Albert's song ,when he went solo, "In Transit". :)
It's a song from his solo's album "Your To Keep", this song's called In Transit like their trip movie. So I think that The Strokes rejected it so Julian recorded it for his own album. Anyway what a beautiful melody :)
Yea which is it? In transit, obstinate? The strokes or Albert Hammond Jr.? Also I was listening to reckless serenade earlier by artic monkeys or wanabe strokes lol jk and it has a little riff that reminded me of this song
Paulo Henrique It just goes “Free from it all Im not gonna change Till i want to “ Adding an “and Im” every now and then before “Free from it all”. The albert’s newest version has lyrics in the chorus tho.

I doubt the other strokes are on this - Julian's demos (the b-sides to the Strokes singles) were made by himself, you just use a 4 track and layer up
He did, if you watch at the start of the film it says, “original score composed by AHJ”
@@benzorecords Yes, but composing and recording are two different things.

Julien is 'captain of the ship' says albert. well, one of the members said that haha
It’s the fact they could put down their writing to realize Julian’s vision that made them legends though.
It makes my heart hurt because of how much I love this song.
I love it too
im with you all the way
I remember hearing this for the first time at the end of In Transit and being simultaneous really happy and sad at the same moment
I like this way better than the actual version. The chorus is much more emotional without singing.
so true
Yess
I'm a little late but what's the actual version?
@@danielprew3389 in transit - albert hammond jr. !!

I actually love the vocals so much better in this version than the album version

@CoreyGregz The song is from Albert hammond's album
It's a song from his solo's album "Your To Keep", this song's called In Transit like their trip movie. So I think that The Strokes rejected it so Julian recorded it for his own album.

In transit
Albert said on twitter that he has no idea where the name "Obstinate" came from.
Well, Obstinate does mean stubbornly refusing to change ones opinion, and in the song, he's singing about not wanting to change until he wants to.
This song dont hv on spotify

Adding an “and Im” every now and then before “Free from it all”.
The albert’s newest version has lyrics in the chorus tho.

albert is very talented and is good at singing but we all are fucking obsessed with the strokes and especially with Jules
It even said the original score was by albert lol.
