I think they received one of the highest compliments ever in rock. Robert Plant of Led Zep said this is how Zeppelin would sound if we were still together. What praise!
What a song! Jeff is my first cousin. Never really knew each other but I always followed his fame with pride. Met him in once in Halifax at a small restaurant in the Hydrostone. I was happy for that. As we all get older I wish we had known each other more but life turned when we were young. I will always wish him well and smile when I hear a Tea Party tune. Rock On Cousin.
My dad showed me this band, he would play their albums every weekend while we did chores, and we would listen together and bond over it. He had a stroke and brain aneurysm years later and lost a lot of himself, but this is one thing he never lost. I'm taking him to see them this weekend for his birthday ❤

Awesome, I’m sure you had seen them before live?? Blow you away how much it sounds like studio version. I think one of most underrated bands not only in Canada but the planet
These three are the epitome of sheer creative talent. Incredibly unique. This song/video in particular speaks to that. I've had the pleasure of standing in their greatness 13 times.
The first band I ever saw in person. I scrolled through about 50 comments, y'all encapsulated everything. The Tea Party rocks, thanks for spreading the love!
I Saw The Tea Party In Toledo Ohio Back In 1993-94! Jeff Martin The Lead Singer Has A Voice That Reminds Me Of Jim Morrison Of The Doors! I Have The Splendor Solis CD & T-shirt! Love This Band!🥁🎹🎸🎤❤️
Most definitely high praise coming from Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin🤘 “Tea Party” lead singer/guitarist Jeff Martin is an amazing musician & his voice is so powerful & goes right through your body when you see the “Tea Party” live. Of course a lot of bands want to make it big in the “United States” because if America 🇺🇸 loves you then your pretty much the cats ass!!🤘lol😂 … but the “Tea Party” didn’t really succeed in America but they do have a lot of fans in the States just not on the scale of what the “Tea Party” should be with how talented they are. They are big in Canada & are from Windsor,Ontario,Canada & La Salle,Ontario,Canada which is pretty much a suburb of Windsor now. Tea Party bassist/keyboardist Stuart Chatwood resides in Australia 🇦🇺 now & the “Tea Party” have a big fan base in Australia & so much so that they filmed a live concert of theirs in Australia in which you can most likely find on “E-Bay” or “Amazon” 🤘… Cheers 🍻 from Canada 🍁
One of the most overlooked bands of the 90's. I know they weren't overlooked in Canada where they're from but they didn't get a foothold in the US and I'll never understand why. They had a couple of singles that made the radio but that was about it. Straight up shame.
@@Protege2001 Right on! Their songs "The River" and "Fire in the Head" did pretty well on the radio in the states but that was about it. I wanna say "Save Me" also made the radio but I can't remember for sure.
@@katherynemero4118 Yeah I don't listen to the radio. I can't even remember the last time I used the radio to listen to music. Lol. I'm not gonna say that all music nowadays sucks because that's simply not the case but the really good music that is out there isn't being played on the traditional AM/FM radio, that's for sure.
Great tune!! Just saw them last night here in Waterloo, ON, and they absolutely KILLED this song (and the whole performance really!) These guys have never received the recognition that they deserve for quality, complex rock!!
Saw The Tea Party at the Commodore Ball Room in 94 or 95 when they were in their infancy at a Music West show where there were New bands (lots of them) from across Canada playing in and around Vancouver Bars, Night Clubs, and Halls for a week, was an Epic Experience to see them up close and personal ❤
I really like the native culture references in this vid, if only we ALL were more connected to their way of living and being this would probably be a more centered planet.
I saw these guys at The Glue Pot Pub in Ottawa in aporox 92-93, before they got digned to a bbg label. They had a self produced album, or demo, cant remember, it was so long ago. Thats what I feel struck with, listening to the song, I haven't heard it or any other of their songs in decades, so hearing this opens a vivid memory portal to a very faraway time, place, people, and self. On Daily Planet (a Canadian show of science) they did the science of the Tea Party and they did an analysis on his voice and determined he must have the gene for perfect pitch.
The tea party have always had amazing bass and drum sounds. An absolute presence when played on real speakers ! Jeff’s voice ... lyrics .. strings ... what a time to be alive then when music like this was played and promoted
the song ends and I can't help it, I automatically start singing "I woke up this mornin.. Someone was knockin at my door. I woke up this morning! Someone was knockin at my door and I said Hello sweet Satan, I believe it's time to go"
