- EDIT: Just realised I misspoke in the video. The bridge pickup is a Bareknuckle (I think maybe their Brown Sugar?) and the neck is a Radioshop ID:Tele :)

One of my favorite guitarist , you’re an inspiration man !!!
Sean Crow Thank you so much Sean! ☺️
You got fans in Canada too! Love your playing. You instantly put yourself in a different category from most of the internet guitar wankers lol
I absolutely agree. Stands out from the crowd. Instantly recognize that it is him playing. And super note selection. He is not just another guitar player. He is a musician that is a fantastic guitar player.
Footnote, that intro has to be my favourite guitar solo of all time, and I have heard them all. Pedal steel with gospel esc flavours.. ASTONISHING!
Fuck, that play from 7:15 is one of the best plays I've ever heard from a telecaster here on youtube. Good to see another telecaster player making music with stories and feelings like Mateus Asato and not just show-offs, race licks, dirty, soul-less noise that most guitar players do on youtube. Love this a lot, Chris! Would love to see and hear your play on a squire classic vibe 50s telecaster. 😊
Why did this make me cry 😢
Beautiful
Right?! He’s speaking from his soul.
You are absolutely incredible! My favorite guitarist on UA-cam! Thank you!
Bosse I Thank you so much man! ☺️
I'm pretty sure we can all agree this kid is one talented beast. Truly thankful I found this channel!
The fretboard is your playground. Wonderful touch.
I so enjoy your playing. So melodic. You've got this little micro-virbtato thing going on that I've only heard from Derrick Truck using a slide. (Would love a lesson on that!) Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
Absolutely gorgeous Chris, I'm not sure if anyone noticed that you actually moved the nut right out of the stock From the absolute gorgeous emotion within your playing. Sir you are a jewel and absolute pleasure to watch, your technical abilities truly do come from your heart and soul. Good on you mate, stay blessed and keep safe,
With all due respect to other main stream electric guitars.. this demonstrates just how articulate and beautiful a Telecaster can sound. Very nice playing and tones. Thank you.!
Finally a reviewer who can actually play inspirational!
New fan from Germany - deeply in love with the musicality of your melodic improvisations. Amazing, Chris, all the best on your journey.
Thank you so very much for this wonderful playing - and not afraid to go outside of your own particular style! Like all REAL musos, you are such a giving person.
I come back for that 1st minute jam so often. As someone who’s been playing since I was 14 and now 35 with SRV as my guitar hero, you’ve inspired me like I haven’t been inspired in a long time. Your phrasing is on the level of Derek Trucks my friend. Without the slide obviously. Lol
Can't beat a Tele.
Glad to hear it's as scratchy as mine
If you like these try a PRS DGT they're interesting, very familiar and comfortable.
A lot different to the Tele experience, a bit like sitting with a coffee table under your arm
you are a wonderfully tasteful and soulful player with a great ear for those vocal like 1/2 and 1/4 tone bends. Oh and that tone!
Great playing, great tone.
W Hawkins Thank you man! 🙂
Now it’s my favourite tele too. Great sound and great playing. Cheers.
Sounds great! It's cool that telecasters seem to be enjoying a bit of a rebirth among players.
That riff intro was legit.
It's beyond me that this channel only has only 9.8K subscribers.
So intricate, story weaving, misty Welsh sea cliffs, rough ocean, torn grey sky, timeless..
Chris Buck is 100 percent human, organic, heart and soul.
Hi Chris. Mark at MJT makes fantastic guitars. I have one myself and it quite simply, the best Tele i've ever played. Nice playing by the way.
alecr666x Cheers Alec 🙂
Yup - MJT rocks and I’m looking forward to grabbing one for myself.
Also, check out Haar in Netherlands. Nice Dutch relics,
I seen you on the pedal show, you were amazing. Daniel was gobsmacked at your playing.
it looks like Derek Trucks on telecaster ......Nice sound, nice play...
Great Shout. That’s it. Was driving me nuts thinking who it sounded like.
Beautiful technique as always!!
Steve Pannell Cheers Steve! ☺️
wish I could play my tele like that. seriously impressive.
I’ve just watched this for the first time (on a Tele trip!) and have long admired your playing. There’s a sensitivity to it that’s missing in a lot of music.
Didn’t realise you had an MJT 5:28 - I’m up to 4 (3 Teles and a Strat). I just bolt it all together myself, my mate handles the electrics for me and then I set them up as best I can myself. Absolutely love them.
Your finger picking style fascinates me. I watch these videos and spend most of them staring at your right hand.
I ALWAYS look forward to your videos Chris. Thanks!!
Thank you so much Christopher! :)
Beautiful playing, exceptional tone..very very nice, thanks for the ear therapy :-)
Ever since I bought my first Tele, I've been a fan of that guitar. I now own four, with assorted pickups, both factory and after market. My hands down favorite, has a repro wide range humbucker in the neck, broadcaster pu at the bridge, and a 4 way switch. Beautiful playing, beautifully sounding Tele, with those bare knuckle pickups.
Awesome sauce. Danish Pete's youtube vids on a Thursday and yours on a Friday- perfect!
Will Goodfellow Aha. Cheers man! We co-ordinated! 😆
Great videos man ! just picked up guitar at 37 (played bass for a while but decided to join the good side) bought a strat .. wanted a tele ... ordered a tele lol beautiful guitar and amazing playing
I'm so in love with your guitar playing. Got to see you at the Concorde II and was blown away by the band.
Great playing man! I'm building up an MJT Blackguard Tele right now too... this makes me stoked!
i’m thinking about building one as well. How was it ordering from MJT? Just curious for when I eventually get around to ordering it.
@@wyattheitkamp55 MJT were great to deal with... I've done 2 MJT builds now... The Tele and a Strat... I ordered the Tele through their web page and chose the specs/colour etc. The Strat body I bought from their Ebay store... The Tele took close to 6months to receive and the Strat took 6 days.... so, that's something to consider.
Geoff Robson Thank you for the reply. A lot of people have said they are great but it’s nice to get several opinions. Definitely going to try them out
Wow Chris, amazing tone and playing can't believe I've not seen you before now but just wow. Subscribed right now my friend.
Awesome soulful tasty riffs ... makes me wish I lived in the UK to see/hear your concerts ...
You are an incredible guitar player. Truly inspiring.
Liam T Thank you so much Liam!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. Love to listen.
That last bend. Oh lordy. Great player.
Played the HELL out of that Tele in a quintessential "Tele" playing style. Very well done.
tasty playin and beautiful tone
Love how he plays. Pretty awesome!
Miss You is one of my favorite vids....
I have a couple of Randall amps from the late 70's as well
To me, the message here is to put down the pick and squeeze sweet tones out of your finders. Nicely done!
But yet he still doesn’t put the pick down... lol whether it’s being used or not, it’s there, for whatever reason haha
Sounds beautiful!
Dude, no way are you 28! I would’ve guessed 18! Great playing and really nice guitar my dude.
What better way to wind off after a hard days work and an evening of playing guitar for Fame the musical than a bit of Beautiful playing from you, Chris. 👍🤘🏻🎸👍🤘🏻🎸👍🤘🏻🎸
Haha! Cheers Simon. Hope you're well mate :)
Beautiful guitar work from the minute the video started to 1:05. If I was to unteach a million shredders I have have them listen to exactly what you did in your intro, then mild electro therapy and an upper cut to re-boot them intro delicious phrasing that says what no singer can ever say.
Nice touch man...im feelin' it brother!
Beautiful guitar, beautifully played - honestly gave me chills, listening!
Telecasters 4eva. Leo got it right the first time, everything you need and nothing you don’t.
Love to watch you play man...
amazing guitar playing man, would love it if you could do more tutorials or licks etc:)
Gorgeous how the slide with vibrato @ 0:31 mimics a female voice. Interesting to hear Chris having to relearn his improvisation which makes these videos rather valuable for capturing his creative outbursts.
I’m not a big fan of the honky tonk part of the Tele tone but Chris does a good job here of moderating it with some beautiful notes. Of note the Tele that Prince often played was not a Fender either but a German made Hohner.
Beautiful sounds, brother. Thanks for everything.
My pleasure Torrance! Thank you for watching :)
Never mind. You play beautifully!
OMG those bends!
I must admit I was disappointed to find out that the sound heard is played on a strat, after you entitled the video " My Favourite Telecaster" I came here after seeing you on that Pedal Show. You're a great guitarist. I'd love to hear you playing a tele . cheers
tweed guitar he does at 7:12
Great playing man! That tone was interesting.
i just love the teli. I have a strat as well as a teli i built from a kit. But each time i pick it up, i put it down again and grab the teli. strat just never sounds as good in my opinion. fact is i came to your channel first because of the teli but find myself on your channel more to hear you play. very nice skills. great videos. thanks and God bless
Beautiful playing, from a fellow Welshman!
So glad I found your channel
I just have to say , that you have a very nice touch on the guitar !Your phrasing , choice of notes , and timing are so very tasteful ! Love the Tele , I have a couple of my own , and they are some of my favorite guitars . Keep up the great videos, I watched your video on the Gordon Smith Strat , Michelle Taylor loves hers also . I would love to see one in person someday and try it out myself !
I have a 62 VM Squire Thinline and a Mexican Tele! My fav Guitars! Love the slow Celtic feel to your second song (after the chat) salutations and greetings from South Africa!
Cheers Russell! Someone below has commented about a VM Squier Thinline, funnily enough. I'll have to check them out! :)
Lucky me, I bought mine used for a bargain with upgraded Klusen Tuners as well as a Bridge with Brass compensated Saddles
Niiice! Sounds bloody lovely :)
Could you do a video where you go in depth about how you use your tone and volume controls on your guitar? I love watching you and recently Ariel Posen and how you guys play so sweetly and i can tell you both know how to dominate the guitar controls and make a great sound from guitars i wouldnt expect hearing that from. Thanks!
Matt38977897 Sounds good man, I’ll work something up 🙂
Buck and Evans !!!
It sounds great and looks cool. That intro is playing really beautiful. I will transcribe it, I want to learn some of these licks.
Cheers Fernando! Thank you for watching :)
Impressive, perfect bends at 9:06. :)
Craig Martin Thank you Craig ☺️
very inspiring playing man! respect.
Beautiful sound
Ahhh friday again. Look forward to your videos all week Chris. That Tele is sounding awesome man, I'm sure it has more to do with your playing though haha. Have an awesome friday dude and thanks again for the videos 👍
Ah, thank you mate. And absolutely my pleasure :)
Superb playing.😎🎸✅
Sort that watch strap out.
Great playing and a great guitar. I have a Tele...just a copy I built from a kit and I love it! Plays nice and it's easy to work on, with the electronics under the plate. Everything is simple. Just a cool tough guitar.
74dart man Absolutely man! They’re a tinkerer’s dream ☺️
Buck and Evans yep...That's me! Never happy with the way a factory does something and Teles are great...you can do so many mods to them if you want to! Have to put my own style to things. Same with my vehicle. Always tinkering! 😀
Beautiful.
Nice watch😊
Intro = sublime
You're the BEST! Keep on Rockin'
What a tone on first song man ...
THAT's some sweet playing dude! :)
wooo eso es mùsica para mis oidos brother! Pure feeling. Thank you
That intro jam 😭😭😭
goodness gracious! i thought i was hearing albert lee!
I got an MJT Tele around the same time. Totally awesome guitar, so good I did a Strat with MJT last year too. For some reason when I play mine it doesn't sound as good as when you play yours. Must be the wood...
Barkyshards - great note Barkyshards! Hilarious, must me the wood on mine too bro... clearly the wood. Yup, that’s got to be it. Great playing - great video - great tone.
Barkyshards..... mine doesn't seem to work as it should either......!
Sounds nice and beefy, looks like 10 52 strings on there, nice!
richard prisuta Cheers Richard! They’re only 10-46 actually, but I keep meaning to check out 10-52. I think I’ll like them!
You & I have a similar 'thumb over the fretboard' style & I've found the 52 low E is extremely comfortable & does make a difference to tone (you might disagree, when you give 'em a go, of course). Although I use mine with a .009 top E (I find bends easier, with my Vantage HSS Strat type). Loved the Anderton's interview, btw.
Subbed! That intro was delicious ;)
You are a good human! And musician.
Liked & subbed
Nice playing. Jeff Beck would approve.
Hello Chris, I was wondering: are you familiar with the famous American guitarist Bill Frisell work? He has been labeled as a “jazz guitarist”, but it’s really hard to categorize what he does as (only) jazz.
I thought of Frisell also both bring out the best from a tele
Beautiful
Hello Chris another nice one ! it makes my day and take out from is case my tele . i've one question you always have a sweet reverb on all your recordings is it from the furchs or from a pedal or is it a subtile delay ? have a good Day André
Got an MJT one piece ash body strat ebony board ,stainless frets ,mint green guard Lollar pickups …Best Strat I’ve ever played
A correct built nut and bridge play a role. I only noticed this after custom built and mistakenly put a random nut. Pickup helps, but string vibration stays there through bridge and nut, so...
The sound and playing techniques are so expressive and moving. I watch trying to figure out those micro techniques that make such a huge difference. Do you intend or have you created videos demonstrating some of your techniques?
That intro song is beautiful. Sub'd.
Brilliant, man!
What's that gorgeous watch @chris!?
Gorgeous guitar - your intro to this is simply stunning. Is it a one-piece body?
Hi Chris, thanks thanks thanks, the first minute was sublime, made me think of Mayer in his more inspired moments. Just a suggestion: I get that that angle you shoot at while playing looks good on camera, and allows you to show the whole guitar but still be a close shot, but im sure im not the only guitarist that misses a more straight angle, not that i want to steal your licks or anything... (wish i could). :) Again, amazing playing!
Andrés Mesa Good shout man! I’m still working on the whole camera thing. I’m a one man band at the moment 😂 I’ll try and sort something out. Thank you Andrés!
got the mayer vibes too
