Quick Tip: If you want them to lay a certain way you have to twist them or start them in that direction (pulling). 👌🏾
Restarting the dread process😳💯
Love the message at the end about loving your hair the way it is now. I've been growing my hair from a buzzcut since Feb, and that's what I had to tell myself everyday when i went through the "ugly" stage. Which to me wasn't all that ugly at all. It's mostly due to what other people say/ imply when they talk about ur hair. Anyway, awesome tutorial! I'm planning on starting dreads once my hair grows a bit more.
did u start them?
Watch your channel when I need inspiration to continue growing out my hair, currently at 5 1/2 inches, many thanks from Barbados
malik stuart check out my dread vid
I’ve never personally had interested on getting dreads or locs on myself but I’m very interested on seeing you restart the process!
I’ve been with you since you started your old dread journey if I ever cut my “twisted” locs I would grow out some “free form” locs
Thank you so much! I have been considering combing my dreads out but I was nervous about if I will like how my normal hair looks after not having it for a while. But now I know that if I do comb it out and don’t like it, I can have a way for getting dreads back with my longer hair. So again thank you💖
Finally decided on locing my hair. Went to the store and bought the Jamaican mango and lime . Then came home and found this video ! Soon as I saw you recommended the same product I was like yeah let me watch this. Love this video ! Very descriptive and your voice is calming. Also . We have a gray hair in the same spot ❗️
How’s the process now? I’m thinking about locking my hair. It’s about 17 inches long, very curly. Any tips?
YAY! So glad I found this tutorial! My son's hair is exactly like yours. It took me all weekend to undo his freeform dreads.ive been palm rolling weekly for a year, soi wanted to redo them. Thank you thank you thank you
Yes finally he is back looking fresh and feeling nice and your locs gonna come out amazing and stay bless and keep up the great work.
Yesss. Finally. I've been waiting for this day. I missed your locs. Im so late too. Never would have known you got them back if I didnt watch greatlocs.
I ain’t gonna this inspired me to do my own lol been waiting on my sis but she been hella busy so I just twisted mine today. 🙏🏾 they lock
Ayeee thanks man!!! I just left a comment asking for this 3 days ago!!! 🙏🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 thanks and God Bless brother
Great video man! I've been watching you for some time now! You're one of my greatest inspirations for starting my channel! All around a great dude dropping solid knowledge in community! 👊🏾🔥
Was gonna comb out my locs, but after seeing you go right back to locs. I'm good lol.
Damn, first hair care video I've ever seen from start to finish. Thanks for the inspo!
A almost loced my hair like this when I did finger twists and left them in for 2 weeks so you know my detangling process was long and tedious
You lost hair?
Why did u twist? Lol why twist then comb out
GoofyDoom Bc it makes your curls a lot more define you twist them up then take them out after a few days. People also do the same thing with braids. Its called a twist out or braid out, its a pretty common thing to do
@@AskYaMommyBoutMeBoi you sound crazy and uneducated lol
@@f4xl177 no scripts , no drip. I checked.
Before he would say start the crochet hooking from the root and just keep doing it until the tip, now he's saying different. But it's cool. Wonderful presentation Gunther, your stuff always has had great visual presentation 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Finally back with the dreads!!!!!
Freshhhh 🔥
Im just starting dreads! You are one of the greatest influences for me to go for dreads
Nice content keep up the good job Gunther
Ok now I have a little more confidence see that we got the same type of hair 💯

he is now
@Diego Arteaga Lopez imagine thinking white people are dreadheads you're a clown
chillest channel on youtube.
Shout yo all the people who have a full head of dreads and they maintain it themselves I used have a full head of dreads and it was so much work to keep it lookin clean
Ayeee back to the dread days!!
thank you!
Hey Gunther, great videos. I looking for advice on products to start and maintain dreadlocks. I am sceptical using wax because it gets dry. I had dreadlocks before and I cut it. My hair is about 9inches long.
How do you actually have to maintain them at this stage? Like how should you sleep, should you wrap your hair before sleeping? How to wash? Should you wash at this stage?
best video diy on locs
Thank you!😊 ❤️
Thx for all the Videos
Damn bro I needed this one
I started locking my hair like last week! I did NOT try this method. Sucks cus this method looks easier rather than what my girl did to me which was back combing and making nots. Now i kinda wish I did this style 😅
Rev Clout of your white which that method you used makes me think you are this wouldn’t work for you this only works for curly hair
@@pandathejuggman3576 im Hispanic. My hair is somewhat curly. Like 2b at most. But yeah I gotta see where they'll lock me up. Just trimmed some of my dead hair off. Best way to do it would be locking it and letting my hair grow again.
thanks man, my freinds have been telling me to get dreds and i didnt know it was so easy
This is a long process, but you've motivated me to do this
Finally found someone with hair like mine!
Me too. 🥰
i have like that puerto rican loose curly type hair what loc method works best for that?
🔥🔥 about to see if i can make it to December without a retwist 💪🏽 currently at 1 year & 7 months
LocGod I’m at a year and 6 and trying to make it to January with no retwist
Mischievous Vagabonds Doesn’t that mess up your dreads waiting that long to retwist them
YungTarik nope
YungTarik I usually go 3-4 months without a retwist
YungTarik nope
This is great.
Jemmi started her dreads with pretty long hair
okay i just started today should i make the sections perfect also wen to do a retwist
beautiful hair
When I don’t want my locks anymore will I still have my length? I have over 3 years of growth and I love how my natural hair looks (fairly similar to his)
@gunther Da Great i would like to start my dreads but i have a full head of hair so it is very hard yo section it and wanted know if you had any tips for me shouold i pay some one to help me?
thank you
Nice !
#GREATFAM!!! 300K on the way!!!!
Quick question though, after finger coiling do you leave the dreads untouched without washing for a couple months? Cause I've never done dreads myself and wanna start so I'm pretty clueless on this.
Good content brother
Bro this video is really helpful for me because you follow proper technique and not alot of people upload videos like that with description🤙❤👍
Your son is so cool
Finna be fye
Thanks budy
Best editor on UA-cam
Do u think this would work on straight hair?
Can the coil method be done straight hair too ?? :)
Gunther we can pass for brothers my pops is Jamaican and my mom is Puerto Rican.. we have the same hair type🙌🙌
Are u going to crochet hook them?
Gunther getting dreads again!!!!!!!!!
literally just started my second dreadlock journey as well
OG KATRINA check out my dread vid and sub
Do you use hair pins or anything to keep them in place
Literally did this like 2 weeks ago!!!! My hair dreaded up mad fast.
zacharyss how's it going
Yeah bro, update us.. & also how did you manage it when going to sleep?
How'd it go
Imtry this soon look beautiful 😍
Amazing
Starting them dreeaads :))
When can I begin to crochet my hair after I've done this part? How long should I wait before crocheting?
Gunther, what’s a life routine you’d do with this method like do you have to wet it everyday and retwist til it eventually locks or like once a week?
You retwist every 1-3 months and yes wetting your hair helps lock it. Eventually when you hair does loc still do the same thing for maintenance
Do you have a video on how to use the crochet needle
Ok i got i wet my hait and curl it, but what do i do if i want to wash it?
Damn beautiful hair!
Do I need to put the locking gel on after ?
Sometimes I end up overusing the gel. And my hair shrinks like a dm. Any idea on what I could do. I feel it’s hard not to use too much gel.
Comb coils comee down easily I have to start with two strand twist plus when you let people start your locs with coils many overload your hair with products
Two strand all the way
Started hightop dreads with around 3 inches of hair with no products or locking jell, just been twisting with my finger counter-clock wise for the past 3 months and im currently in the budding and frizzy stage and my side dreads can touch my the tip of my ear now
How's the dread journey
can you finger coil your hair if you got long wavy/straight hair ?
I'm at 2 months without a retwist now trying to make it to 4
Freeform is the best form. I'm at 1 month.
