With a pen
As a guy with dreads for 11 years you should go to a shop and don’t combine them that way better off just twisting them and letting new growth lock naturally It takes more time but It would look fuller
💯
Agreed, not retwisting often enough can cause thinning the same way twisting too often can.
@@darienbrewer8317 Hmmm. I've been free forming for three years. Never twisted since day one. I think the problem comes when you try to separate them. You just gotta let them be.
@@triedntrueiam no ur's are different, with twisted locks they thin when the new growth is NOT twisted around the hard locked part, if the new growth is long and twists on itself ur hair thins, u want half new growth half old and u want the new twisted around the old hard growth bringing the old down to ur scalp again alowing the new and old to compress together (just like how new locks shrink and compress before they lock) if the new growth is to long the weight of the dreads will keep it from shrinking and compressing.
@@NumbaOneso I had an interlock back in December of last year and I have not done anything with my hair since. It’s coming to 8 months actually and I have a lot of new growth. The reason I waited so long was because my locs where just skinny so should I get a traditional retwist soon?
This method definitely works. I went from 95 to 80 locs. I combine this way all the time❤

yall have to know he's mixed
But his hair texture ain’t mixed. It clearly leans in one direction.
@The Invisible Woman he's still mixed and clearly knows what he's doing why is it a problem
@@CatherinesClaws it’s not a problem but why you trying so hard to see his lack of Afro textured hair? This locking style is specific and intentional in Afro haired cultures. Not so much in the straighter hair varieties. Anyone can rock the hairstyle but only one group had fostered a cultural meaning behind it.
@@theinvisiblewoman5709 i'm not, i'm just wondering why people are jumping him in the comments for doing his hair this way.

Been growing for 27 years on my second set. I combine thicker locs with skinny ones and french braid the roots tight and loose the rest of the way down..i repeat this for the weaker dreads every retwist or hair wash session and after about 2-3 months the skinny ones are full enough that i dont need to braid anymore. (Keeping the hair oiled and covered EVERY night) My hair was thinning because im aging. Even my edges were thinning. But with this method, my locs look fuller, healthier, growing consistently, and my edges are even filling out. Been growing since i was 17 im 46 now its definitely a lifestyle.
lowkey kinda givin me island boy vibes
Such great info!
Don’t interlock your dreads please 🙏🏾
why?
@@franckieltm8475 it causes dread thinning later on. think about it when you interlock ur essentially taking your strong root and splitting it into two which takes a toll on your dreads and weakens them as they keep maturing and growing
Don't interlock often. If you interlock once or twice, you'll be fine. It's the people that do it a lot. Locs aren't to be always pulled on and touched. If you get a wash and retwist often, your hair won't grow, you're tugging on it too much. Your hair grows thickest when you're giving it time to grow and leaving it alone.
Well he has too… his hair isn’t really lockable
@@justhereforlaughs857 he just need crochet locs dude
I think the crochet hook actually damage your hair and make it think because each time you pull the hook back in fourth your snatching the hair.. that’s just my opinion don’t hate ..
i hope y’all know that every hair type can have dreads dreads happen naturally in hair if you don’t brush it no matter the texture.
Cap my bf is white he dosent brush his hair often bc well he has white people hair it hasn't dreaded even when he washes his hair and dosent brush afterwards hasn't locked up in a year lol but yeah maybe with curly hair anyone with curly hair could have locs

I have thin 1a hair (that is also oily) and I lost my brush while in the jungle doing research for my masters and couldn’t brush my hair for almost a month. I could brush my hair out when I got somewhere I could get a brush. Was it fun? No, but I could do it. I did end up shaving it halfway through though as I realized I had to go back in to the jungle to collect more data/samples. So not only did my hair not loc it didn’t even Matt
I have young neglect dreads and it’s a wild ride.
There's nothing dreadful about locs, so for people who don't know, they're just "Locs". Not "Dreadlocs". There's your "learn something new everyday" goal.
True but also eliminate loc…. It’s Ethers or antennas …
You’re the one who doesn’t know about dreads, Jamaicans call them dreadlocks and those are the people who popularized it
@Go_go_gadget u mad? You can make a point without being offended cuz that's what it's giving. I wasn't sonnin anyone just putting the info out there. Go have some ice cream and relax
@@trueblue8869 you’re the one who was offended by someone calling them dreadlocks

Bro be like “before I take a number 2 ima use the 0.75 crochet hook”
That interlocking thining the fk outta your hair 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is a good technique. To combat thinning, you gotta' make sure your ROOTS are healthy. Stay up to date on loc maintenance and maintain healthy hydration of the hair follicles and a clean, moisturized scalp. Most people have the perception that dirt and oil create solid locs and that's false. Solid roots do.

Locs, not dread locks are what they are correctly called. Jsyk for your loc journey. 😊
its a personal preference
Or dreads. Doesn’t matter clearly if he’s saying dreads. It just a choice 😊
@@gkdsoldier-xoit is a personal choice ofc, but many have stopped using “dread” because that’s how they used to describe this type of hair “dreadful” and so they were called “dreads” and some just want to discontinue the use since it had a hateful meaning behind it
@@SophiOnYt yea mb I made a ignorant comment 💯
Instant locing gives me a lot of pause. It seems really damaging and like it would kind of prevent the loc from getting any plumper than this since you’re kind of speeding through maturing
