Always a classic golf swing drill. Staying connected helps rhythm and tempo. Surprising distance too.
You speak the truth...
Everybody should do it. Hogan used to do it 50 times each morning. Best drill going and helps with so many other swing flaws.
Tried your on course fix yesterday while playing, what a difference - so much more consistency !! Thanks for the video. 👍👍

I was told to this years ago. I have seen this drill many times, but did I take notice - I don't think so. I will do now as I have come to finally understand that I was so disconnected that I never really knew where my arms were in relation to my body. Thanks for this instruction and all of your videos that I find very easy to listen to and follow. From the UK though living in beautiful southern Portugal during the winter months.
Rich, our pleasure! Appreciate you taking time to post. Have you seen my book The Bad Lie? Amazon link here if you are interested in reading www.badliegolfbook.com/

This is so Jimmy Ballard. IMHO the most important point is at 4.30 when you talk about "connecting" the left arm on top of the chest. This focuses on keeping the elbows pointed down. I try to keep this one concept in mind. I have found your vertical swing works very well, because it involves greater flexibility and movement than the Ballard method. I have really been embracing your vertical methods. Great job as always.
Thanks for the kind words. Jimmy Ballard brought great knowledge to the game. Are you a subscriber?
@@USGOLFTVshow Yes, I am a totally happy subscriber. My swing is definitely improved, and my back is very happy with the Vertical Line Swing. 😊
If my memory serves me correctly, I remember David Toms used to reach over with his trail hand and “tuck” the bottom of his shirtsleeve between his lead arm and his chest. It was a subtle move, not likely to attract derision. Of course, hitting good shots is the best way to silence the critics! A variation of this idea that I attribute to Justin Rose is to have the feeling of the lead arm “sliding” up and then down your chest. I like this since it is very compatible with the Vertical Line Swing!
Robert, you have a good memory and are spot on...David Toms is one of the all time great putters. Great post...
Valdosta Georgia, thanks you helped me a lot . Do you approve of the monza?
It is a solid club yes.
Todd, is your instruction similar to Jimmy Ballards instruction?
From Nigeria
When I stay connected my dynamic loft is really good is this normal? Thanks for your videos
Yes, also watch the wrist angles as they can play a major role
Hey Todd. Im starting to get the hang of golf but I think my swing is too steep. The divots I take are infront of the ball however, they are DEEP and sometimes shaped that im hitting right to left. Any tips to lessen these divots?
Make sure you are moving into the lead foot early in the downswing. This will drop the club to the inside for you.
Another good tip, is to tuck your golf shirt sleeve under your left arm.
