I was too lazy to get up and go to my computer to try the USB trick, so I used a plastic fork and pressed the power button while holding the charging cradle in place... And it started charging! It stayed at zero for a long time but eventually charged completely. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
My gear watch has been dead for 6 years and thought the battery is officially dead since it won't charge from the charger. Thanks to this video, it came back on just fiddling it few times with this method. If it doesn't work the first time, try a different USB cable as well. It took me about 10 mins and it finally turn on and currently charging. Thanks so much!

That makes sense on the magic of the computer USB. I was watching a breakdown of the watch on a different video, the commentator made mention that the battery went through the brains of the watch first, then to the charging port. The computer talking to the watch may wake it up to charge. Great Video!

It worked great...after I plugged it into my computer. My watch had been off for over 3 months because i lost the cradle when traveling and wanted to make certain i ordered the correct replacement. Thanks so much for the video...PATIENCE is key. Prior to viewing this helpful video, i plugged cradle into the wall...but no charge. I then panicked, saw this video and plugged the cradle into my laptop usb. The first 20 minutes no reply...nada...nothing! Then i just left it alone and within another 5+ minutes i saw the face light up with a circular red glow that soonafter faded then the battery bar showed up at 0%! The advice about trying your laptop as the USB power source instead of a wall unit worked on my 2017 Gear Sport -- a watch from two years AFTER this video: Aftermarket, but seemingly good, replacement charger was acting just DEAD. I wasn't sure if it was the new charger or my watch -- uncharged for 6+ weeks. But, within seconds of following the advice to use my laptop's port (instead of brand new USB charger/power supply attached to wall), I can see that it is charging! THE ADVICE IS GOOD FOR CERTAIN MODELS THAT CAME INTO BEING WELL AFTER THE VIDEO! THANKS!

Super help. I used the USB port on the laptop, connected this to the cradle and then opened the charging case and held the power on button with a jewellery screwdriver and bam!, it started to charge. It even popped up on the screen saying re-booting. Note, I moved house 10 months ago and left the watch in it's box until I eventually found it in the drawer this week. it totally worked I had assumed my samsung watch was completely dead. Because like everyone else I use my wall charger, but I googled my issue got this video. Disconnected it from the wall, got a q-tip cleaned with alcohol/dry side, connected the USB to my laptop, wiggled it around maybe 20 times and bam I'm not at 40% already in 27 minutes. I was playing around with different USB cords and different USB sockets (notebook, straight wall connection) .. and neither worked. JaysDMC easy to explain if you check the charger it only give 0.7A while the USB normally gives 1A Also some usb 3.0 give 2A and that is to mutch for the S gear
People seem to be confusing wattage with amps. Amps on a power supply is what it can provide. If a device isn't drawing that much current, it doesn't provide it - its not a water supply with a forced feed.
I was panicking that I couldn't get my watch to turn on...mind you it sat for months not being used. I fretted over getting a new battery. After sending an email to Samsung I got no answer. I checked You Tube about replacing the battery and found it rather delicate. Then I found this solution and went huh...tried it and sure enough it worked!! Thank you!!!

Just out of curiosity I decided to search for a repair (to find out what it would cost) when I came across your video. Its amazing how simple and effective this fix was, dont know why I never thought to plug it in to my PC before.
By golly! It worked! I don't have a small screwdriver but I used a business card which I folded then lift the watch a bit and place the card on the Power button then slowly place the Gear back into its charging harness or dock while connected to the PC via USB cable. Saw the reboot and it started.. Maintain charging via PC USB until it full charge.. Thank you so much for the video!

Brand new, saw something for a split second and then nothing. The return process and warranty process was spinning in my head and I was saying "oh crap" as well. I went to XDA Developers too but then decided to see if anyone did a video for a visual...Viola! You are my hero. Thanks for sharing this video. Let me just emphasize, BE PATIENT and it may take a few tries. I after feeling so frustrated, set the watch down while hooked to the USB on the desk top. OMG! It worked! I struggled for two days switching chargers, cables like a mad dog. Took the multi-meter out and also measured voltages. Used laptop also to charge. What worked was holding power button down while charging via PC or laptop. This was the last part of video and I was about to skip, and thought try this as well. The screen came to life. Can't believe it! Thank's a lot!!!

Worked so well, i got a gear recently and had some trouble but i followed your video and long behold my gear began to charge! Thank you so much now i don't have to send it back to samsung

Thank you for helping with this, I did hear about the USB charging port off of a laptop or tower unit. It worked in the past, I tried it again but didn't work. I watched your video and tried rebooting and it worked. My watch is on charge now. Thanks again mate stay blessed and safe.

I know this video is a few years old. I just wanted to say what happened to me. so I lost my charger when I was pretty light on cash. the thing sat for a few months. using a tooth pick I was able to press the button as he describes and it fixed everything. thanks man.

Ur video saved my gear. Thanks so much. The pc trick worked. I left it plugged in a pc USB 2.0 all night and woke up this am and it was fully charged. Samsung needs to get that issue fixed. Just because a battery goes completely dead u gotta do all this to fix it and get it running.

I've been having it 6 months aside after the watch not charging and recently wondered if with that amount of time elapsed it would now charge. It didn't trough the AC adaptor but it worked with the USB port!!!

I left the watch dead battery for long time and I could not charge it anymore. I connected it to a PC and worked straight away.
So happy I listened to your video. I had the same issue with not being able to charge my Gear. I plugged it into the USB and it started charging - don't understand how THIS works, relative to wall-charging. But, at this point, I have my Gear back, which is what is important. Hello! I had the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Gear watch: it was working well, but one day I tried to charged it but it lit up for about a second and that was it. Since that day I couldn't charge it anymore. Then I watch this video and so I followed your tip: I tried to charge through my computer USB port with an appropriate cable and IT WORKS!

Thanks a lot bro. It's working. Another success story. I plugged in with my PC first, but it didn't work. Then I kept it plugged in for 30 minutes, still it didn't work. Then I kept holding the gear against the dock while connected with pc and pressed the power button. Magic happened instantly. Thanks again.

thank you!!! I was just about ready to throw out my 1st gen gear. It wouldn't charge/turn on any more, and I just figured it was it's time (about 3 years old). Just out of curiosity I decided to search for a repair (to find out what it would cost) when I came across your video. Its amazing how simple and effective this fix was, dont know why I never thought to plug it in to my PC before.
By golly! It worked! I don't have a small screwdriver but I used a business card which I folded then lift the watch a bit and place the card on the Power button then slowly place the Gear back into its charging harness or dock while connected to the PC via USB cable. Saw the reboot and it started.. Maintain charging via PC USB until it full charge.. Thank you so much for the video!

Love your video and I have a little white dog too! Her name is Roxy. Anyways, I felt so much better after watching your video because my situation was EXACTLY like yours. Brand new, saw something for a split second and then nothing. The return process and warranty process was spinning in my head and I was saying "oh crap" as well. I went to XDA Developers too but then decided to see if anyone did a video for a visual...Viola! You are my hero. Thanks for sharing this video. Let me just emphasize, BE PATIENT and it may take a few tries. I after feeling so frustrated, set the watch down while hooked to the USB on the desk top. After 5 mins, what do ya know, the darn thing lit up and started charging. Crazy. Thanks again, I feel so much better now :)

OMG! It worked! I struggled for two days switching chargers, cables like a mad dog. Took the multi-meter out and also measured voltages. Used laptop also to charge. What worked was holding power button down while charging via PC or laptop. This was the last part of video and I was about to skip, and thought try this as well. The screen came to life. Can't believe it! Thank's a lot!!!

I had just ordered a new cradle (generic) but you know how we are when we get new toys (i bought this off of my mailman for dirt cheap because he has the latest one) I had to play with it do I was fiddling around with it but nothing. IT WORKS! and this would have saved my first watch as I used contact cleaner on the watch contacts...very bad idea! destroyed the plastic.
