Thank you for your video, helped me to fix my Gear! Components, like that "wire" between lcd and rest of the watch was much more tighter than it looks on your video. But it really helped to know, what would it need to open that Gear!

My samsung gear just went completly black a month ago the day after my S4 got smashed into pieces. Finally getting my S4 back in a few days so i thought i'd try to see if i could get the gear working again.
Just saw the video and went down to the store and bought the Tork screwdriver and started to open it, seems like it only needed the disconnect and not removing the entire battery to reboot again, plugged into the charger and within seconds the gear started to charge again.

Hey my gear screen is not working but when I press the screen I can hear it taking pictures and making sounds. If I take it apart and take the battery out and reset it. Do you think the screen will work ?
hi Jerry I just recently got one of this watches from a friend of mine and he got it from one of his cousins. so needless to say when I received it it was just the phone. no charger or manual or anything. I ordered the charger and charged the phone but when I turned it on it had a pass code I doubt my friend remembers what it is since this watch is old now. I've tried doing the hard reset but it still asks me for a pattern code. is there anything you can suggest? thank you

Where do you find the screwdriver to remove the 4 rear main case screws. Can you remove the motherboard and screen from the brush aluminum face plate. We would like to custom the faceplate
Yes you can remove the parts from the faceplate. I get my tools from Amazon. I linked them in the video description.

Where do you get a replacement battery for the original Galaxy Gear, and how long do they expect the battery to last before it needs replacement? 1 year? I bought about a year ago and my battery dies within 2 hours of wear. It used to last about 8-10 hours.
On Ebay, search "genuine Samsung SM v700 Galaxy Gear battery GH43-03992A", thats the only one Ive found.

thank you, my watch wouldn't power up or charge, and a tech from samsung said that 9 times outta 10 unhooking the battery inside will reset and fix the problem. and it did :-)

Habe das Problem mit 2 Samsung Gear (V700) gehabt. Auch unter der Nutzung eines Labor-Netzteiles (5,7Volt, 0,25 Ampere) kein Ladevorgang möglich. Auf der Anzeige meines Netzteiles war zu erkennen, das die Spannung anliegt aber die Ampereanzeige 0,00 angezeigt hat und somit nicht geladen werden konnte.
Ich habe daraufhin die Gear geöffnet und festgestellt das die Kontaktauflage am Akku selbst derart schlecht verarbeitet ist und hier ein Kontaktproblem zum Akku besteht.
Die Verbindung besteht aus einer dünnen Plastikfolie die nur angeklebt ist und ich konnte schon mit den bloßen Augen erkennen, dass teilweise an einer Ecke keine Verbindung besteht. Mit Hilfe eines dünnen Tesafilmstreifen habe ich die Kontaktfolie einfach nur angedrückt und fixiert. Und siehe da die Gear wird wieder aufgeladen. Meiner Meinung nach ist das bei der V700 ein Konstruktionsfehler den Samsung beim Nachfolgemodell bzw. den jüngeren V700 wohl behoben hat. Diese Reparatur ist kein Hexenwerk, lediglich die 4 Schrauben an der Unterseite entfernen (nicht die oberen) und mit einem Spudger das Gehäuse mit Gefühl vom Rahmen trennen. Unter einer silbernen Abdeckung verbirgt sich der Akku. Die Abdeckung mit einem kleinen Schraubendreher oder spitzen Gegenstand ausclipsen und entfernen. Den Akku vorsichtig anheben und umdrehen, da sich die Kontaktfläche unter dem Akku befindet. Die oben beschriebene Fixierung durchführen und wieder zusammenschrauben.
Ich hoffe ich konnte vielleicht jemanden weiterhelfen bevor die Gear in der Schublade oder auf dem Müll landet.
Das Phänomen einer Tiefenentladung sollte bei den heute verbauten Akkus nicht bestehen, vielmehr hat der Akku keinen richtigen Kontakt zur Ladeelektronik der Uhr weil sich eben der Kleber mit der Zeit von der Kontaktfolie löst.

Sorry, I sold that watch a while back. I'll take better measurements with the next tear down.
Have you charged one of the batteries yet outside from disassembled state,... I believe I had no other option I had left it on for too long I believe without turning g it of due to being away on my work... Came back it was dead , now it out of warranty because of extra ply with Roms to improve it only the drain was harsh I didn't put in any baterrie ROM to curve the drain so I needed to figure out what the isuue was I removed it tested it it is dead ... I also have a neo so took it apart tested its batterie, it had power on the tester. So knowing the batterie is drained I need a safe way to charge it and to know when I should consider it charged enough to put it back together and charge by its charger without harming batterie
use a computer to charge it, and it will recover soon.

Where can I buy the metal snap connector?
I'm having the same issue with my watch, it won't charge. I made the mistake of using my phone charger to charge it and I think it might have burned it out, because the pins where it connects to the charger are dark. Is it possible to change the ribbon cable?

Was the battery kind of bloated at all? Mine feels like it has air in it and feels bloated.
Derbomb9922 That can happen to batteries over time. (Usually moisture has some contribution to that as well.)

I have the white/rose gold band and can not find anything that will clean it, not even Goo Gone works. So I used this vid to take the next black band that came in and swapped the bezel and clasp so now I have a black band with rose gold bezel. By the way, what is in the clasp? There are connectors in there.
