I might get some of the others if they're on sale. I'm glad they brought back the long arms and legs for the Avatars and Navi characters. This wave looks much better than the Avatar 2 one. I'm not even a fan of the movies but there are a couple things in this wave that would be neat to have.
I have the banshee flight, and the wave 2 skimwing and tulkun. Definitely still want the tree and ilu. I love that the minifigs are bigger, looks really nice in a minifig line up
Display sets for adults who were probably teens at the time of the original movie. I can see why they did that. However a UCS style gunship or the white space shuttle looking craft would be more appropriate IMO. Maybe a creator expert style of the mech suit. I got a few of these but was not impressed. Wave 2 is moderately improved but we are still lacking a UCS style expensive big and highly detailed set. Otherwise this theme sits as an investment theme in my AFOL eyes. The collectibility and unique pieces make it so. Awesome production value and great review Tiago. Cheers.
0:52 they are weirdly tall, right. Like in the movie. It really cool that they does it in the right way (whereas they could just use minifigir for na-vi, and short minifigure for people). By the way they still has extremely lego-ish look.
Why you stop making mini builds? those videos were great. Please bring them back. Also can you make a video about must have elements and their qualities in your repository that helps you to build anything.
Just want to say that I really like these full wave reviews and you should definitely do more of them. It gives tiny sets a chance to shine and gives a nice comparison!
What disappointed me the most with both waves was the lack of RDA troops and equipment. They played such an important role in the film, yet they only got a few builds. Meanwhile, Star Wars has a *ton* of troopers from all sides.
I hate the idea that "Background settings should be removed because they dot serve any purpose and increase the price". Like one of Avatar's biggest assets IS the environment. To not add it in lego would be to negate one of the defining features of Avatar.
Definitely the creatures from this theme is a standout while the Sky people stuff is kinda just meh. Except for that site it’s pretty good with a decent chopper.
It's great that they include the foliage elements, and in so many unique colors, but it doesn't look good in these sets; it looks cluttered and messy - there's no cohesion between the colors. They should have done a three tone design; the hot pink/purple, the bright "Scooby-Doo" green, and a light blue - the rest should be green or brown. They missed the mark on these.
RDA station comes with 5 mini figs and a "horse" . so really piece count is lower but if you value a Minifigures at $3-5 the piece count is really $75-$85 for roughly 800pcs
Do the terrain builds wrap around the tree as a centerpiece to create a complete scene? The inclusion of a seperated terrain section in the tree's set, aswell as the shaping of the tree's base and the angles of the terrain components, suggest this is the case.
I have zero interest in Avatar but I am going to get a bunch of these because of the unique colored elements and the yellow wheelchair. I am disabled and collect all sets with wheelchairs. This is going to be all about parts for me.
Just completed my wave 1 collection and I love all of themes the second wave I’m not too keen on but the more I look at the tulkan and mako sub the more I want them 😂
$150 is pretty cheap for the Tree of Souls set, to be honest. 20 years ago, sets this size would cost twice as much with nowhere near the amount of detail, color, or unique pieces.
I didn't realize until now that the entire minifigure was oversized, not just the legs. I'll always prefer LEGO's original themes, but I'm re-watching Avatar now before I see the new movie, so this was super timely--thank you!
Don't. 20 years ago, sets like this didn't exist; you'd get less than half of the detail, almost no unique pieces, boring colors, and limited playability. Lego has really made a comeback, and the prices are nice and low m
I kinda feel like you’re missing the point. I would expect that anyone buying these sets is doing so because they want maximum Avatar-ness. By that measure, the Floating Mountains set is probably the weakest precisely because of the relatively non-distinctive aircraft and research station that could fit in just about anywhere modern. And it has a pretty small terrain build. To my eye, the attraction of these sets is for Avatar fans: • the Na’vi • the large animals • the plant/terrain builds • maybe the human minifigs For MOC builders: • the plant/terrain builds • the large animals • and maybe the Na’vi And for kids: • the large animals • play features I’m an adult and a huge fan of the _Pandora_ but the movie’s story is at best forgettable. So I’m in it primarily for the terrain/plant builds, and secondarily for the large animals. And if I didn’t want those weird-colored parts (mostly found in the terrain/plant builds) I wouldn’t be buying these sets, because there are better non-Avatar options if it isn’t specifically weird-colored parts that you’re after. Do you really think there are people who want these sets, but wish there was less of the terrain/plant builds? I’d expect those people just want other sets, or would be better served picking up the few other rare/unique pieces second-hand.
@ a LEGO is cheap today compared to even 20 years ago, and the quality of the sets has skyrocketed. Compare one of the "big" sets from back in the day to a modern one, and the difference in quality is staggering; much wider variety of pieces and colors, far fewer printed pieces or stickers, far fewer dedicated pieces (big ugly rock pieces, huge slanted walls, etc), better display quality, much better playability and layout, etc. I grew up with LEGO since the 80s, and I guarantee you it's a lot better now.
I actually own this entire wave. I was hedging my collection, im guessing because avatar toys are not selling well this will be the new elves as soon as its discontinued (and i don't have any elves). Even at 40 percent off, it feels like you're paying a premium, overpaying for what you get, but its good quality. Once its built you deflate (into the tone of tiagos reviews i guess) The designs are 10/10 excellent however. Except frustrating, as they've made the terrain parts very basic flat boxy lego, but somehow are aesthetically appealing. I don't like this technique at all. 2023 lego is going to be an interesting year for collectors. I suspect so much of it will be beyond the sanity cost for plastic bricks.
The price to piece ratio isnt that important to me, its more about the size of the pieces in the set, But I still wont pay more than 0.15 euro per piece, no mater how big they are
