I remember seeing this in theaters and I fell instantly in love with the idea of bonding with an Ikran and flying through the sky. • @waynemyers2469
      @waynemyers2469 7 днів тому

      What a shallow thing to say, don't you know that the same industry and technology that made this film possible is also the one that is destroying the environment? This movie is not ABOUT greed versus the environment, it IS greed versus the environment. Ask yourself: How many millions of square-feet of land is paved over for movie-theaters and movie-studios and all the parking-lots and sets and offices connected to the movie-industry? Additionally, where do you think the metals for cameras and stunt-cars and lamp-poles and space-ships and swords and ocean-liners and tin-cups and on-and-on-and-on comes from? And the chemicals for pyrotechnics and film-stock and smoke and rocket-motors and fake blood and...and...EVERYTHING! Hollywood has vast warehouses full of STUFF, everything from WWII uniforms, weapons and vehicles to Civil War uniforms, weapons and wagons. Hollywood has naval guns, telephone-booths,1932 Buicks, chariots (with or without the scythes) 2-man submarines, Trojan-horses, gliders, Stukas, Full-sized stuffed elephants, iron-clads,wood-stoves, diving-bells, B-17's, radar-telescopes, china-cabinets, dishwashers, telegraph-sets, humidors, ink-wells, staplers, letter-openers, thimbles and paper-clips (more land to store THAT stuff.) I imagine that Hollywood could clothe tens of thousands of poor people without depleting it's clothing departments and back to the environment for a moment, how do you think actors, film-crews, directors and extras get to all the exotic locations they make movies in, do you think that they WALK there? Nope, jet-planes and Land-rovers, baby, jet-fuel and diesel...greed and the environment, indeed.
      We won't even discuss the family-based-on-values joke you told since if that were really what you wanted or needed you could have found it among the Maasai or the Lakota or the Laplanders or the Samoans instead of spending time and money making-up a fictional culture of nine-foot blue people with an intricately fashioned fake history and a meticulously rendered fake environment and a whole array of derivative, contrived fake behaviors and traditions. I guess what I'm saying is, you're full of it if you think this movie represents anything as lofty as "family-values" or the environment, in fact, it's the opposite and now, having said all that, I accept your challenge and HATE this movie and Hollywood and anyone who thinks this movie represents anything but good old-fashioned greed and profit.

    I was 21 when Avatar came out. Entering my last semester of college, about to turn 22, in a pivotal place in my life. It was an irreplaceable experience that I’ll never forget and wish I could remember even more. It was the first time a movie really DID something to me. By inviting me so deeply into that rich, beautiful world, it stimulated my imagination in ways it never had before, and I felt so much through the story’s layering of the forces that oppose it. It wasn’t just a story; it was personal, like an inner process unfolding around me in this 3D world. I saw it again the next week, and the impact deepened, but there was nothing like that first experience. It came at the perfect time in my life, when my mind and future were expanding, and so much more seemed possible than I had ever felt before. A lot has changed now, and I’d pay a lot to inhabit that experience once again. But since I can’t, I’m feeling into gratitude that I got to have that experience, because for me, it was about as life-affirming as it gets.

    This was so amazing to see in a 3D Imax theatre. Every single blade of grass was in 3D throughout the entire movie.
    Not like some so-called 3D movies back when this was a trend. Some movies had only a scene or 2 in 3D, and did goofy stuff like throwing a ball at the camera or what have you.
    In Avatar, every scene had a depth of field that felt real, like you were in this fantastical setting.
    Granted, it was hokey as hell, with the Dances with Wolves plot. Even some of the poses the characters assume in this scene are just silly. And 'unobtanium,' really? They couldn't do better than that?
    Sheesh.
    But the visuals were so amazing it was worth it.
    Looking at it now on a flat screen, it just feels like the silliness is more pronounced, since I'm not being distracted by a 3D lizard-bird looking like he wants to chew my face off.
    I can't do this movie in 2D. It just feels like a mediocre anime or something.

      @@pratyanshsingh4813 yup, movie has been delayed so many times now, should’ve been out a few years ago. Seems like the 2022 date is concrete though so that should be the last delay. I’m dying to see that movie

    😮 2009! Will remembered this Special Year when director , crew , cast & teams gave us this Magical Experience of entering the world of Pandora in the Alpha Centauri Solar System ... Still rewatched AVATAR-1 ( 2009 ) from time to time to immerse into this surreal world & also to reflect on the more happier days before 2020s! Thank You So Much for sharing this life experiences in this juncture of space-time! 😊🙏🕯🌷🌿🍎🍊🌏✌🕊

    I saw this movie 4 times on IMAX, blew a hole in my pocket, but was it worth it. 13 years hence, I have not seen motion capture half as good. It was like watching a lucid dream unfold in exquisite detail.
