I really hope we get more melee weapon options and especially some Flamers. It's an absolute crime that this build has no Flamers despite us fighting Tyranids.

I'm just waiting for the multi-melta on a Salamander. Maybe we'll even get a heavy flamer or even just a hand flamer secondary. Tbh hand flamer may be better, secondaries are looking really sparse atm and it would fill a very unique niche as opposed to the generalized bolt pistol which everyone gets and the longer range between anti single target option of the plasma pistol.

This game looks amazing already, like with the part where you played as Black Templar Blade Guard Veteran, combat was good as you melee the hordes of Tyranids. The weather details on the Space Marine is superb when he walks on the mud in the jungle/forest environment. It's like how you apply some weathering effect on the miniatures.
Hope this game makes a massive ammount of $$$ and we end up with necron worlds, orc invasions, Eldar etc etc. Imagine playing a grey knight, taking on the forces of the warp. Game looks REALLY solid. I think my hype is justified.
It peaked at 134k concurrent players on steam today. You'd need the $100 Gold edition to play today. Everybody else will be playing on the 9th for the official release.
With all of the customization they added to the game, I'm quite surprised they didn't just let you create your own Space Marine from the ground up. Like you get to build his face, hair and physique and choose from a couple different voice variations. The game is almost like a hack and slash RPG. I'm actually curious. Not complaining, but it is interesting.
Because it's a continuation of Titus' story from the first game. Would be weird if he switched chapters or something. It's why the CO op lets you change chapter and look. It's just making sure the narrative makes sense or it might as well be a different title than space marine. Plus everyone wants to know what happened to Titus and we all hoped he wasn't killed by the inquisition.
Hopefully this kicks off a franchise with spinoffs so to speak. Since this is a different studio and group of people, I'm thinking of this as more of a test of this kind of game in the modern era. If it hits hard enough I'm sure we'll see more with many more options.

This is one of those rare moments where I am hyped for a video game, follow its development and release closely, and never once doubt that it's gonna be amazing. So far I haven't seen a single red flag which is unheard of these days.
I do hope they change the visor color option from being a separate helmet entirely to just a color change feature like the rest. Right now you have to equip the helmet with green lenses only

Hell yeah add chaos warbands and loyalist chapters from the lore you can rep. Bring in a warband of say red corsairs or something would add a lot to the immersion for us 40k nerds
Valrak - you need to find out if the flamer is available in Co-op ! I’ve heard the flamer is a pick up only weapon in campaign …. Not a load out apparently unfortunately

As someone who really wanted to play as a Heavy marine in Gravis armor, the heavy weapons don’t exactly seem conducive to the horde-type gameplay. Seems like you quickly get overrun and have to backpedal forever, meanwhile if you have a melee weapon you can just carve through waves of nids with ease.
Huge fan of SM I (yay we can now call it that, I've been waiting for a sequel for about as long as you) and cannot wait for this, i think its going to be glorious. My only complaint is the 6 v 6 PvP. I would like a larger PvP pop, but I'll take it regardless.

@jackblake9538 Yes, 6 operations on release. The game looks cool, but I have a hard time paying full price for that amount of content. I may wait for a sale or an update that brings more to the game. I would be done with this after a week or two.
@@JAKKA_95It’s a 10-12 hour campaign, PVP operations, PVE mode. And some other multiplayer modes. If that doesn’t keep you busy for a while there’s some grass out there that need touching
So glad you got early access, very deserved. Is it weird that I really want my team to all play the same chapter? Or at least like Templars + Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists. I could even go Blood Angels or Iron hands or something as long as everyone is from the same chapter or successors. Just like from tabletop, it looks so cool when everyone has the same colour scheme but different details. But I know that no matter what chapter we roll as, one of my mates will insist on playing Novamarines with with Pink trim or something. Actually... having three different chapters - but everyone has deathwatch shoulder pads would be fine too.

From what I can tell, you cannot do Crimson Fist btw. The way the painting works, you cannot paint the fist part of the gauntlet alone. You can paint the whole gauntlet red (forearm included) and you can paint the trim. If you have a gauntlet with something extra on it, you can paint that too, but unfortunately not the fist alone.
I really hope that expand on the customization, the Banner for the Bladeguard, the trinkets and seals, the hanger bay with the Marines being Ultramarines I guess is fine considering that it is their kinda area but if its our ship Od think theyd be our chapter hangin gout in there. I would totally love to run around as Death Company sometimes lol that would be cool, and more weapon combinations too would be fun, Dual wield Chain swords or something would be an absolute blast. The kitbash aspect can be so great here.
This is like, the space marine game I need right now. Darktide was good for the most part but something felt missing in my time playing it (though updates seem to be helping with that though slowly!).I hope this game scratches that itch for me!
its really such a shame that we dont have warhammer 40k " helldivers 2 style" where you have a big ship, you level up your ship and get bigger ship/ customize it, then you have missions on planets of various races you go in with 2 other of ur friends and do missions along with those peasants guardsman .... spacemarine 2 scratches that itch a bit but it doesnt give us what am explaining here
@@spectre722 i am talking about the way helldivers 2 world and gameplay is, this can get easily replicated in warhammer 40k universe ... since warhammer 40k has already a very rich space ship designs, which opens the door to space battles, space ship upgrades, then you can land on planets do missions help colonies etc.. it will be an instant win given it s done right . also its lore should be progressive ,where the story builds as you win missions and new items get unlocked etc but you need a big budget for such a game to be build
I would consider selling a kidney if it would guarantee the release of a HD2 style game where you play as Scions and/or Kasrkin. Astartes are cool and all, but I've always found the elite 'normal' humans WAY more interesting.

Looking forward to co op and hopefully pvp? The og pvp was surprisingly fun and thisncould be so amazing, if they add both Space Marine pvp and also Marinve Vs Xenos!?!? Xenos vs Xenos... Would love to see a horde mode too!! All I'm trying tonshare is how excited I am for this and what potential there is. I hope the game sells really well and there is continued support for it. Please dont let it die like the 1st game 😢

So I was right in the end. "Cosmetic DLC" absolutely does mean microtransactions. Unlocking gear exclusively is one thing, but chopping up content and selling it separately when you're already paying for a full price product is another. I can't help but feel that, from what we've seen so far, Space Marine 1 had superior cosmetic options. I mean, having all the colours unlocked from the start isn't really much to ask for. They're just colours.
Cosmetic DLC is far better than Pay-to-win. We don’t want them locking new weapons or classes behind paywalls, not unless they’re full-fledged expansions that add a ton of stuff.
I agree with having all colors unlocked, but there isn't a pay-to-win locked behind DLC or Battle Passes. None of the colors give your Astartes or their weapons an advantage over the other. Just different classes with different play styles, and you pick the best suited one for yourself.

I am so excited for this game. I have been waiting since the gamescom trailer. Being able to exert the will of Dorn through righteous bolter fire will be so fun.
I think on the topic of decals - it would absolutely be beneficial to have community created decals, but it would absolutely be abused. I think a good halfway point is a decal editor which you submit to a weekly / monthly vote. Other people can then vote on decals that they want added to the game (would also get high demand decals in first). Devs and players (if they're nice) can filter out the less savoury ones, and can see their favourites added in.
I still remember buying this game on xbox when I was like 14 in an summer vacation in spain it just looked sick as it is and just at 2021 I decided to rebuy it again cause I never finish it and completed it and loved it so much the no skip cutscene was dumb but hey 12 year old game and have been remish of another space marine and joined the rest of the crown hoping for more I knew I would immediatly have bias and hype for this release coming month im exicted and happy to hear some early reviews great applauds my guy blood for the blood god

I am beyond excited for this game!! I replayed the 1st several times on all the difficulties, didnt beat on the hardest difficulty😢 My question is this, do the different chapters have different voice actors/lines? I would happily have waited a bit longer if they added that!
Appreciate the review, something I'm still wondering though, while I'm super excited for this game, I am a little cautious that the game may become repetitive. A 12 hour campaign, with 6 repeating operations, and PvP, from your experience with those operations do you think there's some good mileage you can get out of them? I know it's still subjective and we're different, but I just don't wanna drop all that money for a game if it doesn't feel worth it. If you played Vermintide 2, are the operations comparable to those missions?
If there is more DLC for the game I hope a Psyker class and a Terminator class join the fray as well as larger game modes (10v10, 15v15, 20v20). More weapons as well would be fun (assault cannon, lightning claws, flamer, heavy flamers, autocannons, etc).
I really hope they give us the Boltstorm Gauntlets. Easily my favorite melee weapons because it’s basically a power fist with an auto bolter strapped to it. It would be added to the heavy class if it were in the game.

I played the leaked copy, and it was extremely good even at a year old build. I bought the collectors edition because I know I will love it and will keep coming back to it. That's my two cents. The campaign also seems extremely meaty.
I know it's 2024 and I might get some flakk for asking this Val, but did you see any firstborn customization options for either the single or multiplayer content? It's a big factor in whether I grab the game.
I can’t help but to notice the lack of elevated areas, Platforms, etc. Only because the sniper class seems like if he isn’t keeping up he may not shine.
It would be very cool if the game will get event like missions. Where we can fight with idk 50-100 other Players against a massive enemy attack or Something

As someone who really wanted to play as a Heavy marine in Gravis armor, the heavy weapons don’t exactly seem conducive to the horde-type gameplay. Seems like you quickly get overrun and have to backpedal forever, meanwhile if you have a melee weapon you can just carve through waves of nids with ease.
Are Word Bearers playable for Chaos in PVP? Seems wild that they aren't if the main chapter storywise is the Smurfs.

Huge fan of SM I (yay we can now call it that, I've been waiting for a sequel for about as long as you) and cannot wait for this, i think its going to be glorious. My only complaint is the 6 v 6 PvP. I would like a larger PvP pop, but I'll take it regardless.

@jackblake9538 Yes, 6 operations on release. The game looks cool, but I have a hard time paying full price for that amount of content. I may wait for a sale or an update that brings more to the game. I would be done with this after a week or two.

@@JAKKA_95It’s a 10-12 hour campaign, PVP operations, PVE mode. And some other multiplayer modes. If that doesn’t keep you busy for a while there’s some grass out there that need touching

Or at least like Templars + Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists. I could even go Blood Angels or Iron hands or something as long as everyone is from the same chapter or successors.
Just like from tabletop, it looks so cool when everyone has the same colour scheme but different details.
But I know that no matter what chapter we roll as, one of my mates will insist on playing Novamarines with with Pink trim or something.
Actually... having three different chapters - but everyone has deathwatch shoulder pads would be fine too.

From what I can tell, you cannot do Crimson Fist btw. The way the painting works, you cannot paint the fist part of the gauntlet alone. You can paint the whole gauntlet red (forearm included) and you can paint the trim. If you have a gauntlet with something extra on it, you can paint that too, but unfortunately not the fist alone.

I really hope that expand on the customization, the Banner for the Bladeguard, the trinkets and seals, the hanger bay with the Marines being Ultramarines I guess is fine considering that it is their kinda area but if its our ship Od think theyd be our chapter hangin gout in there.
I would totally love to run around as Death Company sometimes lol that would be cool, and more weapon combinations too would be fun, Dual wield Chain swords or something would be an absolute blast. The kitbash aspect can be so great here.

This is like, the space marine game I need right now. Darktide was good for the most part but something felt missing in my time playing it (though updates seem to be helping with that though slowly!).I hope this game scratches that itch for me!
its really such a shame that we dont have warhammer 40k " helldivers 2 style" where you have a big ship, you level up your ship and get bigger ship/ customize it, then you have missions on planets of various races you go in with 2 other of ur friends and do missions along with those peasants guardsman .... spacemarine 2 scratches that itch a bit but it doesnt give us what am explaining here

since warhammer 40k has already a very rich space ship designs, which opens the door to space battles, space ship upgrades, then you can land on planets do missions help colonies etc.. it will be an instant win given it s done right .
also its lore should be progressive ,where the story builds as you win missions and new items get unlocked etc
but you need a big budget for such a game to be build

I would consider selling a kidney if it would guarantee the release of a HD2 style game where you play as Scions and/or Kasrkin. Astartes are cool and all, but I've always found the elite 'normal' humans WAY more interesting.

So I was right in the end. "Cosmetic DLC" absolutely does mean microtransactions. Unlocking gear exclusively is one thing, but chopping up content and selling it separately when you're already paying for a full price product is another. I can't help but feel that, from what we've seen so far, Space Marine 1 had superior cosmetic options. I mean, having all the colours unlocked from the start isn't really much to ask for. They're just colours.
Cosmetic DLC is far better than Pay-to-win. We don’t want them locking new weapons or classes behind paywalls, not unless they’re full-fledged expansions that add a ton of stuff.
I agree with having all colors unlocked, but there isn't a pay-to-win locked behind DLC or Battle Passes. None of the colors give your Astartes or their weapons an advantage over the other. Just different classes with different play styles, and you pick the best suited one for yourself.

I think on the topic of decals - it would absolutely be beneficial to have community created decals, but it would absolutely be abused.
I think a good halfway point is a decal editor which you submit to a weekly / monthly vote. Other people can then vote on decals that they want added to the game (would also get high demand decals in first). Devs and players (if they're nice) can filter out the less savoury ones, and can see their favourites added in.
It's funny to see the marine jumping around, never gets dizzy. A dash would be cooler
I still remember buying this game on xbox when I was like 14 in an summer vacation in spain it just looked sick as it is and just at 2021 I decided to rebuy it again cause I never finish it and completed it and loved it so much the no skip cutscene was dumb but hey 12 year old game and have been remish of another space marine and joined the rest of the crown hoping for more I knew I would immediatly have bias and hype for this release coming month im exicted and happy to hear some early reviews great applauds my guy blood for the blood god

Appreciate the review, something I'm still wondering though, while I'm super excited for this game, I am a little cautious that the game may become repetitive. A 12 hour campaign, with 6 repeating operations, and PvP, from your experience with those operations do you think there's some good mileage you can get out of them?
I know it's still subjective and we're different, but I just don't wanna drop all that money for a game if it doesn't feel worth it. If you played Vermintide 2, are the operations comparable to those missions?

If there is more DLC for the game I hope a Psyker class and a Terminator class join the fray as well as larger game modes (10v10, 15v15, 20v20). More weapons as well would be fun (assault cannon, lightning claws, flamer, heavy flamers, autocannons, etc).
Hoping they add firstborn armor options, or at least a mk7 helmet. I’ve never really liked the primaris look

You do get a tutorial in the first story mission then additional mechanics get introduced the further you get in the story.

I really hope they give us the Boltstorm Gauntlets. Easily my favorite melee weapons because it’s basically a power fist with an auto bolter strapped to it. It would be added to the heavy class if it were in the game.
We could use the customization to help come up with our homebrew custom chapters. I like it

I am so damn excited. I was so pissed when Relic went under, because I *knew* the potential of a 40K game to stand alongside COD or Division or Gears.
I played the leaked copy, and it was extremely good even at a year old build. I bought the collectors edition because I know I will love it and will keep coming back to it. That's my two cents. The campaign also seems extremely meaty.

I can’t help but to notice the lack of elevated areas, Platforms, etc. Only because the sniper class seems like if he isn’t keeping up he may not shine.
