IGNs review was really bad, just trashing a game they barely tested or understood the mechanics of. That said, Games Workshop did release Female Space Marines way back for Rogue Trader. The minis looked worse than awful and everyone quickly forgot about them. But they were in-lore back then so there is a precedent -if really old and buried for good reason. Anyway Sisters of Battle are way cooler anyway, they're all the "female space marines" we'll ever need and more. If that isn't enough female characters for a game or Tv series there are kickass Inquisitors, Sisters of Silence (blanks) and Guard officers that are Women to base it on. in 40K there's no lack of female characters or units to pick from although it must seem like it for outsiders who aren't into the lore since Amazon ants to change it. Most of these "game reviewers" that work for these major companies are obviously not suited for this propose. Honestly I think they are all paid to have fixed opinions, by one company or another. Only reason to have someone who doesn't understand anything about the game as your reviewer
I am a Spanish speaker and several Spanish video game news sites speak very highly of Space Marine 2. They detail the positives and negatives of each game including this one and I feel they are a bit more reliable than IGN.
To me the Reviewer came across as someone who wants to just sit back and be safe, with zero risk to there health Bar, (after his comments about Heavy & Assault), but something I did notice was his comment about the Tactical Marine, been Generic and compering it to the Ultramarine's. he could have left that comment out as all Chapters have Tactical Squads. it felt more like a dig than a legit criticism.
Well, fans tend to be very specific with inaccuracies in lore, he thought he found one, and of course decided to point it out, out of spite, because that’s the kind of people they are.

@archongaur1191 speed them up and add variety like DOOM did then. If I'm going to play this game 10 hours and never touch it again then fine, but if it's supposed to have any kind of longevity it's something to think about. 4:00 ok that's kind of a bad take to say execution's are optional they are as optional as using a healing terminal in Darktide or any other game. like you can just not use them but your shooting yourself in the foot. because executions recover your armor so they seem very important to any build. still I don't think executions are boring.
he did also mention that the only time they arent necessarily optional is for that same reason of restoring your armor at 5:28 . if youre full hp/armor there’s no reason to use it, id consider that being optional in that situation
If you noticed no. They take paid reviews from studios like Ubisoft with already finished script to read. Even futage doesnt correlate with what said in the review. When game devs not paying them they just play for 30 minutes and say nonsence
Rule of thumb is if ign praises a game it’s 100% garbage if they don’t like a game it’s 100% for us gamers. See you marines when 40 k drops my first intro to the series and I’m hyped
IGN would give it 101/10 if the game have Nocturne Sister of Battle who's turn out to be a lesbian and beating Bio Titan with empty hands Of course it could be higher if there's no man and they're carried rainbow flag with every characters have their own pronounce...
I dislike ign as much as the next guy, but 7 minutes being dramatic about someone not like pary animation is crazy. Def just created to get views off ign hate. No substance. This video is just as bad as everything ign puts out
I wanna get hyped but been burned by too many games, this seems like a too good to be true game, finally a badass 40k horde shooter that lets you play as a space marine with customization? Looks beautifully gritty and gnarly as a 40k cinematic trailer? Actually challenging gameplay that throws hordes of bugs at you? AND multiplayer? AND PVE + PVP modes, like cmon where's the cons, lay it on me, short 3 hour campaign?, exploitative pay to win micro- transactions? Shitty optimization? Repetitive gameplay? Im waiting just rip the bandaid off already 😔
Come on man. Thats not even footage from ign. Its b roll provided by focus. Why make a video like this and call out their skills and not even realize its the developers playing? The hate for ign is so misplaced.
The 2 side missions were playable and showable by those who got access. If they aren’t showing their own footage it probably is because neither this reviewer lady nor anyone at IGN can or wants to get a better run recorded.
The best advice these days is: *Don't listen to mainstream game reveiwers.* I'd rather suggest smaller time reviewers if you are really interested, but generally i'd reccomend just watching trailers, gameplay, etc, and see if its the game type you'd like. Worse comes to worse, Steam is rather easygoing on refunds, so if you don't like it, you can get your money back easily.
sorry I know this will probably come across as negative but like…it’s IGN? They’ve always had dogass journalism. This isn’t new info, nor does it warrant a discussion beyond “wow they’re lame” ‘yea they are’ I don’t think a 7 minute video stating the obvious (IGN bad) is needed
The "only 2 seconds of animation" bit can be a problem though, depending on how often it happens. In a horde game, it can become very repetitive. We all know this from the older Assassins Creed games for example where you basically just went into "parry mode" and had one animation play after the other. I don't know if the newer ones have it, if they do, that's just as bad. And that one is not even a horde game. It can be a much bigger issue than you think. It's cool and fun for the first 100 times, and gets annoying later on and you'll consider skipping it and taking the hit if that's faster. It's especially bad when the animations are not numerous enough. (i.e. 2 per enemy type for example) - thankfully, this isn't the case in SM2 Saying it's "optional" is just wrong as well. You have to do them, because they reload your weapons and don't consume ammo, heal you etc. You are meant to do them. There are weapons that have only like 25 shots (reserve ammo included), and one enemy might take 2-4 to get in execute range. And need up to 2 more to actually kill without an execute It's honestly one of my "pet"-peeves with this game as well, when I watched people play on the hardest difficulty and 5 of the whatever-the-sword-tyranids are called show up, the player basically went to each one of them and executed them with a 3-4 second animation, while each of these monsters were just staying in place as they were "stunned" from taking too much damage, waiting for their turn to be executed. It's certainly a bit silly. And they still have quite some HP when they are in execute range, so it's not like shooting them is any faster... and shooting a target that doesn't move and interact with you isn't fun anyway.
IGN: "Executions are too long!" Trojan: "Executions are only *2* seconds long. They may take *2 - 3* seconds, but after those *3 - 4* seconds are over, you will never complaing about those lost *4* seconds."
3:51 slight correction (i only know this because i just finished space marine 1) doing an execution does not, in fact, make you invincible in the first game. yes, this is aggravating because as i’m executing the warboss, i get murdered by nobz and boyz.
Ngl but this review is on the same level then IGN, the execution break the flow not because of their length but because of how often they happen. Its dumb to say "you dont have to do them" pretty sure you have cause the melee is build around it. Stop being a fanboy and look at things objectively lol
It’s IGN there know for bad reviews like there review of doom eternal so yeah IGN has no idea what they are talking about most of the time Also space marine 2 looks great can’t wait to get it and play it one of these days
I'll shit on IGN any chance I get, but I don't think they were outta pocket here. You took a very small part of their preview, a 5 second off the cuff comment, and blew it up to a massive scale.
Holy shit, what a massive overreaction. Imagine getting this triggered over some guy saying "the controller movement is a bit clunky" and "the parrying gets to be a bit much" about a game that _isn't even out yet._ And that doesn't even touch on this guys arguments that are just baffling. I guess thats just how outrage culture works though; figure out whatever the current hype is around, make a video thats designed to tap into our ape impulse to get irrationally angry at things and wait for the ad revenue to roll in. And by the time people start to realise that it really wasn't as big of a deal as they made it out to be the hype cycle has moved on and 90% of them have forgotten about it. It's not even funny when it's so predictable
Why are you mad at a guy for being passionate about a video game? This man is showing that he truly loves war hammer and is correcting this IGN reviewers terrible remarks🙄
At this point criticism of IGN is as "bad" as IGN. It's a company that publishers reviews from all different people. Anyone still criticizing a faceless company like IGN for dumb opinion of the person who wrote it seems like they have the right amount of braincells to be an IGN user lol.

Hey I’m new to warhammer, so sorry if I am about to commit a heresy, why are there no girl space marines lore wise? I don’t mind it I’m not trying to start a argument, I learned the hard way I have to say that.
@@AidanClutterif I’m not mistaken there are not any female space marines because of the augmentation process? Come on man. Thats not even footage from ign. Its b roll provided by focus. Why make a video like this and call out their skills and not even realize its the developers playing? The hate for ign is so misplaced.
The 2 side missions were playable and showable by those who got access. If they aren’t showing their own footage it probably is because neither this reviewer lady nor anyone at IGN can or wants to get a better run recorded.
I always did the opposite of IGN.
The best advice these days is:
*Don't listen to mainstream game reveiwers.*
I'd rather suggest smaller time reviewers if you are really interested, but generally i'd reccomend just watching trailers, gameplay, etc, and see if its the game type you'd like.
Worse comes to worse, Steam is rather easygoing on refunds, so if you don't like it, you can get your money back easily.
IGN is a joke.
sorry I know this will probably come across as negative but like…it’s IGN?
(i.e. 2 per enemy type for example) - thankfully, this isn't the case in SM2
Saying it's "optional" is just wrong as well. You have to do them, because they reload your weapons and don't consume ammo, heal you etc. You are meant to do them.
There are weapons that have only like 25 shots (reserve ammo included), and one enemy might take 2-4 to get in execute range. And need up to 2 more to actually kill without an execute
It's honestly one of my "pet"-peeves with this game as well, when I watched people play on the hardest difficulty and 5 of the whatever-the-sword-tyranids are called show up, the player basically went to each one of them and executed them with a 3-4 second animation, while each of these monsters were just staying in place as they were "stunned" from taking too much damage, waiting for their turn to be executed.
It's certainly a bit silly.
And they still have quite some HP when they are in execute range, so it's not like shooting them is any faster... and shooting a target that doesn't move and interact with you isn't fun anyway.
This IGN reviewer has such a whiney voice its actually hard to listen to.
IGN: "Executions are too long!"
Trojan: "Executions are only *2* seconds long.
