As far as I'm concerned, it's the best album EVER by any band. I've loved that album since I was a 5 or 6 year-old (thanx to my big bro) and still love every second of it. Blackmore, Paice & Lord at their absolute best and the "new" guys doing an incredible job sharing the vocals and blending their voices into what I consider to be the best vocal duo performance there's ever been. To me it is an absolute masterpiece. Thank you for putting it in the spotlight. Cheers.
1. In Rock 2. Fireball 3. Burn 4. Machine Head 5. Come taste the band 6. Who do we think we are 7. Perfect Strangers 8. Stormbringer 9. The House of blue light 10.Shades of Deep Purple
My introduction to DP was the compilation "When We Rock, We Rock... and When We Roll, We Roll" that my older brother brought home, and when I heard the song Burn I was blown away!!! my next trip to the record store the album BURN was in my hands! it was my first DP album of my own and still my favorite with Stormbringer my second!
Excellent job, lads! Burn is probably my favorite DP LP. It’s a combination of the songs, the production, the performances and the fact that rock radio - at least here in New York - plays NOTHING from this album… so it’s NOT overplayed! The title track is immense and Paicey’s playing during the verses STILL blows my mind every single time that l hear it! Ritchie’s raging rifferama and Lord’s “Lord of the ‘Boards” playing add to the awesomeness of the entire composition. A true classic. No duff tracks on this particular platter for me. I even dig the instrumental. Cheers 🍻 from Mrs. Crabapple! ~ The Deepest, Darkest, Detoured Davey Cretin, from Cretin Classics
I don't know if it is the best DP album, this depends on the mood I'm in, but it is certainly in the top 5. Btw I like all Coverdale DP albums a lot, along with "In Rock", "Machine Head" and "Perfect Strangers" they make my Top 5-6. In recent times I listen a bit more to Stormbringer, but now I'll put Burn on the turntable :) What I like about Burn (and the following albums) are the new aspects brought into the band by Hughes and Coverdale - the funk and the groove. In Rock was also something completely new compared to the Mk 1 albums - raw power.
Machine Head will always be my favori te DP studio album, but Burn ties with In Rock for #2 in my book. All great stuff, along with all the other DP music created in the 1970s. Btw, Peter (Jones) and I have had some great times playing our cover band playing Burn and other DP songs.
The remastered set from 2004 addressed the production shortcomings of the first cd pressing. Glenn’s Bass wasn’t as defined. Hoping a Quad: surround sound mix is authorised for an upcoming Anniversary edition. Similar to the Stormbringer Anniversary set. As you know Roger Glover was remixing the MK2 Anniversary albums, and even started to remix the Burn album, but bailed early on.
That would be excellent. At the time I thought it was an odd choice to have Roger Glover as the man for the job...I would love to have a Steve Wilson get behind the desk and have a crack at it...
@@RockDaydreamNation Yes, to a Steven Wilson remix on the next Anniversary edition of the ‘Burn’ album. Keep Steven on the payroll for the next anniversary edition of ‘Stormbringer’ . I always thought the Rockier tracks sounded ‘flat’.
I think burn is fantastic and I love the dual vocals of David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes and it also has a stronger funk and r and b flavor with Glenn Hughes vocal delivery and bass playing plus I love the opening one two punch of the title track and might just take your life
Even being a David Coverdale fan I would rate In Rock higher as Burn. Deep Purple and Black Sabbath created the roots of a lot of branches of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal in 1970. But BURN is No 2 for me, followed by Come Taste The Band. All the marks did their best on their first album
@@RockDaydreamNation Jimmy Page ended up with him for a couple of Firm albums, always loved that first album, I thought they had great chemistry together.
You Fool No One, think the best version is on the live in london album ua-cam.com/video/l1Hcy6QCHnc/v-deo.htmlsi=l2Zjj81MbslE6tmF great review btw. subscribed 👍

Definitely burns for sure! Definitely one of their best.
Thanks for commenting and watching!
The "Corleone family" allusion was the best 😆. Great show, fellas.
Thanks David (btw I don’t know where that reference came from😆it just lobbed into the chat )

Nice comment. Thanks Domi!
Burn is the DP album I reach for the most these days and my favorite. A 10! Great analysis, guys.
Agree and thank you!...More purple coming on the channel so stay tuned!
Great album, the title track might be my favorite hard rock song. Easily my favorite Deep Purple album. Can’t stand Ian Gillan, love this line up.
thanks Werner....love Gillan...but this line up and album has the edge

Welcome and thanks for the comment! Pete has a lot of passion for DP (which I share). Would have been great to seen you guys play!
Hey Don! Oh yes, we share that love and playing together was always so much fun!!!

On the track Coronarias Redig.. you can hear a little part of ‘Catch The Rainbow’. Ripe for a ‘mash-up mix’.
Interesting.. will listen and compare👍
It's great and likely a top 5 Deep Purple album but I go with "In Rock" as the greatest.
Yes...it’s the groundbreaker album👍
Only top 5 🥹
@@wernermoritz882 Yeah, it's usually tied for third for me with "Fireball". I put "In Rock" at #1 and "Machinehead" at #2.

Great comments! Thanks for watching!
Burn is a great album... But I still prefer the previous one...who do we think we are.

Agree with you there! If not already please sub to the channel plenty of David Coverdale material being planned/to come out in the future...
Love Martin, but he is a contrarian haha.
Ritchie initially wanted Paul Rodgers, but he declined the offer.
Hey JayJay...that’s correct...he was gaga for that Rogers tone!
@@RockDaydreamNation Jimmy Page ended up with him for a couple of Firm albums, always loved that first album, I thought they had great chemistry together.
Definitely a top 3 album but im partial to In Rock and Ian Gillan
Thanks. Based on my recent poll - In Rock appears to be the fan favourite. Its a killer album
It's a great album, but it's no In Rock or Machinehead imo.Still would slot into my top 5.
Ronnie is technically better on Mistreated, but his version misses the emotions
I don’t find the Ronnie version totally convincing (as making us believe he has lived the words) It’s DC all the way here...
LOL fair enough. But we all can agree it is a monster composition even if we prefer different singers and different versions.
