@@optimusprinceps3526 Unfortunately for you your state is controlled by the democrats and every state controlled by the democrat party is experiencing the same problems San Diego is experiencing! Sadly
Thank you Bill! It was great to see you play at Grateful Dead appreciation night at Petco Park. Stand tall and keep telling the truth about how the homeless have overrun this city with filth, violence, thievery and drug induced wretchedness.
Hate to break it to you but the Dead used a lot of those same drugs. The difference is that unlike their era we live in a country hollowed out by greedy globalists and laissez faire economics. Heck, a lot of these wretched of whom you speak would no doubt be following the GD tour bus had they the good fortune to be born in the post-war baby boom.
My jaw is on the floor. What an epic news conference. I feel the same about the destruction Gloria has caused. I can tell you with all honesty possible the day he was elected I told my Partner SD would look just like LA and SF in a year. We knew it would happen and thank God someone with a voice finally called him out. My heart is broken too watching our city go down the toilet.
Keep up the good work sir. San Diego mayor like the governor are the worst form of leadership we’ve seen in a very long time. Just need to get the blinders off those who support these two to see what s really happening to our city and state. Please don’t give up this fight. You have the power to get the press (KUSI) to hear you. Thank you for what you are doing and hopefully we will get our great city back on track.
Start by spreading these videos, circulate them, get the word out. And push for cleaning up voter rolls, the mail in ballots are giving the leftist Todd Gloria's of the world the chance to ruin their communities with their leftist agendas
Wow, I’ve heard rumors, but legacy media has kept this out of the national spotlight. Sad mess. I hope California voters will realize they meed to make better choices.
I hate to say that I feel the same way... San Diego just isn't the same... we should've all been VERY worried when the Mayor and City Council came in brand new and one of their first acts was to give themselves all pay increases before any performance
Bill is a hero. 70 years old, disabled, and taking on the establishment when he could just move to Florida with his wealth and live out his days in peace and harmony. Instead, he stays in the cess pool and risks alienating friends and neighbors to do the right thing and better society and his community. What an inspiration. Oh, and he is a lawyer, not just a guy who dribbled the ball. He doesn't need to do this, he does it because he actually cares. Hope he does a vocal Walkaway from the democrats he sounds ready
I lived in Hillcrest for two years in the sixties. Not a better neighborhood any where. Great family area, parks. Just a couple mile walk to downtown. A lovely place. Sounds like a mayor induced “hell hole”. Such a shame. John
There is a simple solution to this madness. When Bloomberg was mayor of New York City, he gave the homeless people a choice. Go to a shelter, go to rehab, or go to jail. Of course, our jails probably don't have room, but the bottom line is they should not be permitted to refuse services, if they don't want to clean up their acts and accept services offered then they need to be arrested. I hope I don't sound like a cruel human being, but our streets and our beautiful city deserve better.
There is not enough room in shelters, and some are unsafe. What is needed is apartments where people pay a third of their income for rent. That is the solution.
@@litedawg If they get $850 in SSI, then they pay $255. If they get more through SS or SSDI, then they pay a third of that. Some (there are quite a lot in California) work full time but cannot afford the outrageous rent prices. There are retired people who get social security who can't afford the rents. There needs to be apartments to house these people.
It isn't just good for the community, it is good for the addicts, criminals, and mentally ill. If you are mentally ill or using drugs, you need services an institution and its out patient can deliver on. If prevents the mentally ill from getting abused and deteriorating and especially with fetanyl and heroin addicts it can save their lives. If not, prison or jail can get the same job done, and as for criminals, they can rehab there or stay there and prosecuting and punishing smaller crimes can in some instances prevent the level of criminally from escalating.
I wonder if Bill's neighborhood will allow duplexes and other affordable housing near them. That is a big root of the problem. I saw a survey that 45% of people who go homeless in CA had jobs, there is just no place they can afford.
Bill Walton is very smart and aware of the government's failing ways that's lowered the quality of life for everyone. Because of this, San Diego has a huge homeless population and is getting worse by the day. This problem needs to be fixed because as Bill Walton said, San Diego was once the best city in the nation, unfortunately mayor Todd Gloria has made it into a 3rd world landfill.
I am an indigenous native American to San Diego county and this has gone too far! This city, state and country are in crisis and bonehead Gloria isn't a real.man, nor a real.leader! If he was he would have addressed al the crisis in San Diego and San Diego county cities...it's the same all over....get more national guard to the border, more law enforcement on the streets and support them, tough on crimes, tough laws, real DAs. This mayor.will.never do this and yes, he and all the Democrats and many Republicans are on the wrong side of history...they are getting people.murdered, overdosed, killing babies, denying facts, put us in food, energy and fuel.crisis and now the brink of a nuclear war! The democrats are Satan's party!
Bill's speech is marvelous but is he offering a solution to deal with homelessness? Sure, we can pretty much forget about Todd Gloria. We all know he's a failure, that's nothing new. But at the end of the day, Bill, the homeless population is composed of veterans, human beings affected by PTSD, the mentally and physically disable, etc. My question to Bill is....Bill instead of complaining what can you do to help, to offer a solution?
God rest his soul. But Walton's philosophy on politics and life is one of the driving factors for the homeless issues in california and other left wing local governments.
I REMEMBER LONG AGO WHEN BIL HERE WAS UP ON GRATEFUL DEAD . WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW COME . HOPFULLY , LITTERALY , WE WILL NOT ALL BE GRATEFUL TO DIE--heh heh
Our problem is bigger than homelessness at the park. The homeless problem in America is largely due to greedy corporations shipping our jobs off to China and anywhere cheap labor can be found. We need to change our thinking about work. Work = Love. When I buy something from you at a fair price, that is an act of love. When you buy something from me at a fair price, that is an act of love. Our communities should grow organically in love through our giving and receiving with oneanother. We should be making all of the stuff we use in our life every day. Corporations have tricked us out of love for Corporate profits...
Lol ok pal. It could be the fact that your leaders give the homeless people $630 a month plus a cell phone and free food all over the place. Turn off the faucet and the homeless will go elsewhere. California is Mecca for the homeless.
go blue and end in poo..... I love Walton but he supports the far left and that is what brought on all his complaints....when Pete Wilson ran San Diego it was America's Finest city.
Bill I'm sure you'd support building housing or converting abandoned property into low income housing so the homeless can have shelter right? Where are the homeless supposed to go when there are no available apartments that they could afford. What is your solution?
Not impressed with his commentary or his criticism.I’ve been hearing Cooky-cutter speeches from outraged local “not in my backyard” types. It’s obvious he is looking to get into local politics and this topic like many local conservatives is what he is banking on to get himself in in the headlines. Homelessness is not an easy topic. If it not one thing it’s another. People need to call Bill out and ask what’s your solution instead of giving so much praise for setting an alarm on something we all know is there but clearly don’t agree on what action is appropriate. Are you going to get rid of the homeless camps? What is your strategy for mental illness? Do you want to build more housing, where? What does compromise look like for you? It’s hard to trust guys like this without seeing more substance. It’s easy to gaslight people in this topic because there isn’t a one size fit all solution. The way he comes after mayor Gloria and not all other administration tells me he is more concerned with pointing fingers.
Walton can't rely on a guy like Todd Gloria to find a solution...he's worthless. The question is what are you gonna do with the countless numbers of homeless people who don't have a place to go? We are talking about veterans of war, people with PTSD, the mentally challenged or the physically disabled or those who through no fault of their own ended up homeless. Walton also wants the San Diego PD to enforce the laws by removing people from "the park," and the bicycle paths. Isn't his position a bit inhumane? In essence what he's saying is get rid of the filth because I wanna ride my bike. However, Mr. Walton, the filth you are talking about are human beings who haven't been as fortunate as others. I once was a fan of Bill Walton the basketball player, the sports commentator. Sadly enough, those days are over.
Go BILL!! San Diego Pride!!
