Hi. I am leaning towards lg c2 42" for my use (30% coding, 40% photo-video editing, 20% entertainment, 10% movies). A quick question, I've watched 10s of youtube videos and read 10s of Reddit posts. But couldn't find that by hook or crook (external software, service remote etc) can LG C2 42" do a split screen? For example, Hook up a laptop and pc to different HDMI and display at the same time.
I remember the days that a 42inch TV was considered huge, heck I remember when a 32 was considered huge, with that being said it is better suited as a monitor or maybe a small dorm type room.
It always amazes me how quickly you acclimatise to whatever size you have. Having had a 65" for some time now, it no longer feels that 'big' to my eyes (I sit about six feet away). In fact, I now regret not going bigger when I swapped my Sony LCD for the C1; I stayed at the same size, which doesn't feel as much of an upgrade (tbh, I've been somewhat underwhelmed by the OLED but that's another story...).
I bought a 70" in 2011, and yeah, you get used to the size so quickly. I still haven't upgraded because nothing really screams a must upgrade yet. The QD OLED from Samsung is close, but too small for now.
So true. I had 32-43 inch tv's my whole life and now I got 55 inch it seemed huge at first, your eyes get use to it. My 55 inch seems like a 32 inch back in the day haha.
I got a 48” LG C1 and never though I would have a TV this big, it’s the smallest OLED they made when I bought it. Before I had a Samsung 22” 1080P LCD.

It's just not bright enough and I always had burn-in on my mind. I sold my 48cx and got the 43 QN90B. I will give it a shot, except for the bloom and lower pixel response I think the brightness and no burn-in outweighs the OLED for a desktop PC gaming monitor.
Just bought this to replace my 48CX. Actually it seems really small at first :D but I'm pretty confident that the size is perfect for a gaming monitor. I also like that you can see the pixels a lot less than on the CX because this 42C2 can also be moved further back on a desk, and of course it has higher PPI per se.
@MrCOLTSR2 definitely a good replacement. you can push the C2 further back on the desk, plus the PPI is higher, so the screen definitely looks better from a regular viewing distance on most desks, I would say.
I use lcd samsung (va) 4k 42 tv like pc monitor, i love this tv image, very good ppi, but its 4 year old, 60hz and i try replace with lg 48 oled cx, and i tell you its terrible image, pixels, and i return it fast as i can :D Now i want try lg 42 c2, but still remember terrible cx feelings. Hey this is great. Been enjoying your videos a lot especially LG products. Your set ups are great and to the point with the consoles. I am Felix from Kenya
Yes get it you won’t regret it. It’s amazing for gaming but have in mind not so great for retro gaming that uses 4:3 ratio because it has high input lag in 4:3 aspect ratio about 20ms. But with modern consoles or pc it’s super great in input lag about 9 ms at 60hz and 6ms at 120hz. 1ms response time with not inverse ghosting.
Great unboxing video especially cable management tips 👍🏽 In the full review please do include HDR performance in games & movies specifically and also hook up all the HDMI peripherals like PS5, PC RTX, Soundbar & Nvidia Shield TV and then check performance of TV .
HDRI is 90% great, but won't push you something overly bright like direct sun, direct flashlight. Artificial lights look stunning, metal looks like real metal, daylight sky and windows look convincing, night scenes look superb, fire and explosions, look great. But not those overly bright spots - you won't get it with C2, only with G2-G3 I guess (C2 peak brightness is 800 nits, and G3 is 1400). But I keep C2, because it's 42 inches (and I use it with PC), and it's 2 times cheaper. It gets me 90% of experience I want, just not that umph extra HDR I would dream of in some occasions. It's still pretty bright HDR experience, mind you, if not to look at those nuances. It's night and day compared to IPS or VA, so get it for that 90% of new visual era, it's worth it
@@o_KingOfKings_o firmly disagree with this, DTM drastically improved brightness and is far superior than HGIG or having it off whenever I’ve been playing games, in my opinion.
@@dylanhumphrey2479 DTM doesn't increase the brightness lol , DTM degrees the highlight so the tv can elevated the brightness on the dark parts of the picture, meaning destroy the picture , HGIG was made so you don't double the TM on games , btw destroy the color volume and increase the chance to activate ABL , if you want more brightness get qled oh lcd , example try and play warzone with DTM good luck because everything is going to look washed-out
@@o_KingOfKings_o homie I’ve had the C1 since June of last year, I’ve spent extensive time in menus getting the image to look good, settling for the brightness of the tv being cut in half is just a dumb decision when you can use DTM and adjust black levels and color to get the image looking better than HGIG. Idk what you’re talking about with warzone, cuz on PS5 on my C1 with DTM on running at 120, it looks breathtaking and anything but washed out 😂
Epic video! I'm looking into getting the C1 but now that the C2 is out I wanted to compare them. I think of waiting for Black Friday and purchased the C1 to save some money. Any thoughts comparing them? I only want to use it with my PS5.
These panels are the same as last year's, just smaller form factor. The 55" and ups have the evo engine in them, which is supposed to be brighter. It would be really cool for you to compare the new 2022 OLEDs from LG, Sony and now Samsung.
All c2 including this have the evo engine that's what it's called evo. And i have triple checked before purchasing. The 42 has the wbc panel, 48 and up has wbe but all are evo processor and AI
Hi SpawnPoiint!! C2 OLED 🔥 It definitely looks amazing, the tv display will always be better than a monitor in picture, but of course not in time response. About the size, I do think it is too big for a monitor, probably 34" is the maximum perfect size to go for, but it is just my opinion. Hoping with excitement your full review of this TV testing some games and movies, pretty sure it will be awesome.
This is prolly my pick for converting a closet into a hidden setup. Got rid of my old setup for VR and I miss it and now my idea has exploded into a pretty big and fun project. Still in planning cause I need drywall work painting sound insulating and rough theme planning but I'm excited.
I think that this C2 OLED is optimal for deep desks and for PS5 / XBSX. If you have a smaller desk and a PC along with your next gen consoles the 27GP950 monitor is just the perfect choise, especially if you play fps games thanks to the 160hz + smaller screen your eyes have to check. Those 42” in a small desk setup are just too much.
C2 OLED, I already own one of these and it's awesome. The only thing that I don't like is it auto dims when there is little screen activity going on regardless of any settings set. No doubt it's to prevent screen burn in, never the less it's annoying as the brightness drops off a fair bit until it detects some desktop movement, then the brightness ramps back again. Hence it's not so great for doing office type work like emails and word documents, but it is a fine gaming screen / anything with a high amount of motion.
Well, at least here it's not as aggressive as I expected after reading user reviews. It does dim when a big portion of the screen is white, but only in desktop mode. And I think it's great, as it' would be too bright for such a huge panel. You don't want a 800+ nits flash stun in CS, it will hurt. Nothing distracting in games or movies, it feels natural
I'd like to see this tested on PC with 120Hz at 12-bit colour in Game Optimiser mode with Boost mode enabled. Because this will be the most common settings for PC use. Some things to test would be: How annoying is the ABL in both light and dark modes on the Windows 10/11 desktop. Response time. VRR. Response time with and without VRR (it adds a single frame delay). What TV settings are still available when Game Optimiser + Boost is enabled. Does the TV wake up from PC sleep or power on. Does it handle a wide range of resolutions well. Does the 12-bit colour make much difference over 10-bit (like on gradients/colour banding). How is the SDR brightness level in these modes (apparently it's not great but is it acceptable). Colour accuracy after proper calibration (if you have the tools).
@@SpawnPoiint thank you. I’m trying to figure out how to enable VRR as well as best settings for tv n when gaming. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks again!!
I think 42 is still too big for a monitor. I had a 43” Sony tv and brought it back because it was too big. I think somewhere between 35-38 would be the sweet spot
I completely agree, 48 is huge for a desktop. There was a shortage of 42 models, so I went thinking about buying 48 one, but it turned out so huge in real life. You need at least 2 m away for a comfortable view of 48 inches, whereas 42 is ok at 1.2-1.5 m
Would you go for the 42”? Or is it too big as a monitor or too small as a TV?
Definitely considering it as a monitor, but may be too big for the distance
I already use it as monitor and it's been great, the only downside for me is that in PC-Mode you don't get the DCI-P3 Color Gamut
Spawn I think you should get one as a monitor
Too big to use as monitor

But with modern consoles or pc it’s super great in input lag about 9 ms at 60hz and 6ms at 120hz. 1ms response time with not inverse ghosting.
@@badassfriend9076 Where can I see that input lag? I've tested it with CS GO, Quake, and it's butterly smooth. What's your PC?
Just bought this to yesterday and I love it great for gaming
Great unboxing video especially cable management tips 👍🏽
In the full review please do include HDR performance in games & movies specifically and also hook up all the HDMI peripherals like PS5, PC RTX, Soundbar & Nvidia Shield TV and then check performance of TV .
It's night and day compared to IPS or VA, so get it for that 90% of new visual era, it's worth it
Wow love that u included the measurements. This isn’t in my budget but I’m sure it would be greatly useful for someone watching
Thank you 🙏
Is the C2 any good just to use as a productivity monitor to replace two 32” screens???
Wow!!! Measurements!! Incredible. Top drawer stuff. Thank you, SpawnPoint. You de best!!!
Haha thanks
hey bro is it possible that u could show your lg c1 settings for gaming and movies and show how to accurately adjust hdr on ps5
I've just bought the lg 55c14lb it's amazing
2 important things never turn DTM on and don't increase the color
Idk what you’re talking about with warzone, cuz on PS5 on my C1 with DTM on running at 120, it looks breathtaking and anything but washed out 😂
i’ll be honest i love your setup sooo clean
Thank you.
i would like one for trading and gaming (sadly in my country i would have to remove the tuner for an extra $100 to not pay public-- tv fees)
Ideal for gaming for me 🙌🏾 thanks for the content
Epic video! I'm looking into getting the C1 but now that the C2 is out I wanted to compare them. I think of waiting for Black Friday and purchased the C1 to save some money. Any thoughts comparing them? I only want to use it with my PS5.
I might try in a month or two. But they are very similar.
@@SpawnPoiint Thank you for responding I appreciate it.
you are a absolute beast man got the big bad tv right off the hook
Haha thanks
These panels are the same as last year's, just smaller form factor. The 55" and ups have the evo engine in them, which is supposed to be brighter. It would be really cool for you to compare the new 2022 OLEDs from LG, Sony and now Samsung.
That's why I think the 48" C1 is worth more, which is the same price.
All c2 including this have the evo engine that's what it's called evo. And i have triple checked before purchasing. The 42 has the wbc panel, 48 and up has wbe but all are evo processor and AI
Your videos have made me want to upgrade my setup since its been years since I have done so.
I still have my 55“ B9 Modell and it’s still amazing, best tv I have ever had.
I have that model too! I plan to upgrade to the Sony A95K QD OLED just as soon as I can get one. Planned release is sometime in June.
I have the C9 and still impressed
C2 oled you dropped a 🔥 review on my bday today 🔥
I think it is perfect as a monitor, but as a tv it seems quite small to me, still it is definitely beautiful
Small? I don't have room for a bigger TV, as it must be in a corner next to my kitchen door.
C2 Oled - great video as always
Thank you 🙏
Hi SpawnPoiint!!
C2 OLEAD 🔥, it's beautiful man
It’s good to max out xbox x capabilities while still be able to use it as a TV. I like the idea.
Those 42” in a small desk setup are just too much.
hm
C2 OLED Very informative review! Liked and subscribed!
Thank you 🙏
The 42inch uses the last years panel lol...whoops
Going to get this Tv Friday and love your view on this one.
Turn off energy saving
Even my iPhone does it if I play something too long at max brightness
Well, at least here it's not as aggressive as I expected after reading user reviews. It does dim when a big portion of the screen is white, but only in desktop mode. And I think it's great, as it' would be too bright for such a huge panel. You don't want a 800+ nits flash stun in CS, it will hurt.
Nothing distracting in games or movies, it feels natural
Great and straight to the point video. Thank you!
Tempting asf
Haha yep
Those measures are amazing! Thank you
No worries 🙌
I'd like to see this tested on PC with 120Hz at 12-bit colour in Game Optimiser mode with Boost mode enabled. Because this will be the most common settings for PC use.
Some things to test would be:
How annoying is the ABL in both light and dark modes on the Windows 10/11 desktop.
Thanks for the feedback!
Literally just picked one up 5 minutes ago. I’m using it for gaming. Can’t wait to get home!!
That’s awesome! Enjoy.
Many people use the C1 55 inch for gaming
@@vega4k849 I know. They’re crazy lolol. Way too big. They prob don’t play competitively
It’s not to big, I used the 48 “ as a monitor and that was big, 42” is perfect.
@@RoyalBoyle78 u must have a decent sized desk then. Is smaller desk user will have a hard time with that
C2 OLED. Great content. Definitely looking forward to the next video! 👍
Thanks Mark.
I'm using it right now, before I had 48" C1 but it was too much large, this C2 42 it's simply great, the right measure for using it as monitor for PC.
I completely agree, 48 is huge for a desktop. There was a shortage of 42 models, so I went thinking about buying 48 one, but it turned out so huge in real life. You need at least 2 m away for a comfortable view of 48 inches, whereas 42 is ok at 1.2-1.5 m
I love your setup. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for putting up the detailed dimensions!
C2 OLED definitely looking🔥Excited for full review.
