I get the sharing bits of information slowly, but withholding information in certain circumstances is hypocritical and selfish: you don't give any input but are happy to take it. If I said I went to such and such place and the person acts like they didn't, but I find out later that they've been there before, I'll be so turned off. Sounds unnatural and manipulative.
