This is so true! My late husband was the busiest person I’ve ever met as his work involved managing the sites of a multinational in entire continents. He flew from Germany to the UK three times a month to see me, for a year and a half, and when we got together I was his priority. Those were the best nine years of my life and those men are very rare nowadays.
My celebrity crush offered to fly across the country to get coffee with me. Needless to say, I was bummed that it couldn't work out. I would have made it work out, but there was a wall of just stuff. Red flags, the nature of his job, stuff I had going on, etc. It's too bad. I actually really genuinely enjoy being around this guy. He is still my only real celebrity crush (not just a character that an actor played). I think he thought I was just playing games. I wish he knew.

As a child, i loved to be different never felt im loser, i lived in my own world of art and dance. I never knew i was liked by boys, i liked dressed extremely vintage in order to be different, didnt wear any make up untill i graduated college, and braided my long blond hair. Now im 45, and i have 3 boy friends 28, 37, and 48 :) I love life.

That's the bottom line, action. I've noticed with time, that what make a woman beautiful is self assurance and you can't act it. Also, patience, even in the way a woman walks, talks, and seeing it while she think carefully and truthfully is so beautiful. And, and, when you talk about meditation, I replace it with Jesus in my mind. How he hates hypocrites, then I think oh, I have to do right starting from inside.

True, if it does there is an expiration date on it. Also the problem with these sort of videos is they are not true for abusive men, only normal humans with emotional range. Not that we should be with that abusive man anyway. Just that abusive men will not “get activated,” to love you and they don’t abuse you bc they don’t like you and they will not be breaking their rules indefinitely. They will be masking until they feel you cannot escape.

The majority of dating coaches/advice seem to focus on insecurities causing people to act needy& anxious, trying harder. I'm in my 40s and the dynamic I'm finding with men is very different from that. I'm running into a lot of men that have been damaged/hurt and when there's a new level of closeness they shutdown and pull away, avoid. Had one in particular, very interested- both of us in a limerent state of infatuation (he's recovering from substance abuse). I'm afraid his feelings for me were too dustracting/triggering similar to a drug so he backed off. He's not dating others, he buries himself in work and intellectual pursuits. You're so good at researching and explaining psychology- I'd love to see you tackle the matter of middle age men post-divorce and if women can do anything constructive if he's avoidant. I can and have pulled away- 9/10 it doesn't work, but neither does pushing towards. Huge topic you could make a new course on... hint, hint😉
It"s because the dating pool is full of avoidants and emotionally unavailable people as we get older. The secure ones have paired up and are less numerous back in the dating scene. If they are severely avoidant there is nothing you can do but go your own way.
If you don't and take the breadcrumbs, you are enabling them and you participate to the anxious/avoidant trap.
Also a recovering addict is not likely to be ready for a relationship, he's not emotionally available from what you say.
@MissSarahGM yes, he's my most extreme example and I know that's a lost cause. But surely there has to be some useful advice beyond just dropping everyone. I've been doing that and it's exhausting. It's definitely an entirely different environment at midlife... Alex may not be there himself but I'm confident he could learn and apply R. Greene's principles for us. He has a real knack with examples.

@ASh-io8ro no, not a rude suggestion. I thought that too, but based on our talks/interactions you could say he's too into me.. he's definitely scared of being close with anyone. In any case, I'm more concerned about the overall pool of people and navigating that successfully. Lots of 2-3 month good starts that go nowhere, rinse, repeat.

You have to reframe that to - when I was young I was interested in reading the bible and I accept that previous verison of myself.
