I think you guys are getting the purpose and the idea of that wrong/mixed up. Babies crying on an airplane is just annoying. But being stressed out, afraid and being forced into a dark black and airless box while hearing that is going to get whole other feeling and reaction out of you. There is a sick twisted genius behind this method: physical torture is actually not something any human can support doing in the long term. This method solves the problem: you put your victim in a confined space, press a button, and let whatever happens happen. Rather than beating a man into a pulp while he cries and begs you, put him in a box, turn on the speakers, and go play poker.
I work in pediatrics and phlebotomy. There was a study done on the pitch of a infants cry and its correlation to hearing damage. By the end of the study it was recommended that we wear ear plugs if we are exposed for longer than 2 minutes.
constant babyscreaming in my ear at close range like 10-15 cm for two weeks straight between 7-8 in the evning until 5-6 in the morning and it was not my child, now thats torture
Can I just explain something to any of the torture advocates on this video? Many, not all, but many of the people tortured by the CIA were actually innocent. The Pakistani and Afghan government sent them, claiming that they were from Al Qaeda or the Taliban, as a way of getting revenge on the opposition parties/pro-free speech groups that they belonged to. You may be fine with torturing terrorists, but please realize and understand that it has been confirmed by the UN that many of them were actually innocent. Thanks for reading.
And you know they were innocent how? Did you work for the CIA, are you a lawyer or did you get to speak to at least one of the prisoners. Thank you for reading. P.S about 3000 people die in one single morning, I don't care if your innocent, if you have information, I'll do anything to get you to talk.
torture is not ineffective its one of the most effective ways to get information fast but only when you have reach the breaking point before that it doesnt work. And as a punishment its insanely effective.
***** well torture is more effective as a punishment than you want to know. Or are you one of those leftwing ppl that think that the prison system works flawless and that they have learned their lesson and it makes ppl not to want to commit crimes? And if torture didnt work at all on ppl then why do you think that we humans still use it and come up with new ways of doing this. In many cases you dont even need to "hurt" the person for the torture to work. You do know that if i wanted information from you that you dont want to give up the easiest way would not be to hurt you directly but ppl that you care about like your wife or your children. So dont say that torture dont work.
***** ahh was the foundation you built your faith in this so weak you couldnt take the fact that you lost this one, you cant really give up this easy. And i dont use torture myself so no im not a sadist i only understand that it sometimes is the only way to get information you need. You cant ask a terrorist nicely where did you plant the bomb that will go off in 72 hours. Even keeping him in prison is a form of torture since it violates his rights of movement. Yeah i wish there were better ways but that isnt the case. And we are not talking about someone that you can talk with and they will slip up. These ppl are at war with you and all they want is for that bomb to go off. And for every second you just talk to him and he keeps his mouth shut is a second you lose on the countdown. Then maybe now you start to understand why it is used. And even if the bomb goes off you still might not have anything on him since he doesnt talk. And then you have to let him go so he can do this again and again.
knesrevi he box itself isn’t the torture it’s the way it’s used, they your body eventually loses track of it’s circadian rhythm, and they make you you’ve been in it days to weeks, but in reality you been in it for several hours, that combined with audio, and force stimulation to the box

Went through similar scenarios while in training for Tactical Combat Casualty Care. Pitch black room, dressed out, thick smoke, baby screaming, gunfire, dogs barking, people on the other side of the wall screaming and banging on the wall.. that claustrophobia would just make the whole ordeal even worse.
Yeah....like flying airplanes into buildings, bombing embassies, targeting civilians, killing women and children as legitimate "military targets", using chemical weapons against civilians.......
To all of the people saying she is weak, I would love you to see you try it and see how long you would last. Admittingly as a man I probably wouldn't last as long as she did.
Giggy J You wouldn't be sitting in a box. You would be taken away from your home, forcefully shoved inside that box with no concern for your health or well being, where you would be CROUCHING, not sitting, with no idea of when or IF you would ever get out, and with a baby crying blasting at full volume in your ears. This woman still went through this at the best possible conditions, with soldiers being really polite and all (in comparison to how they would normally treat a soon to be tortured person).
i think the real pain comes from being forced to crouch. my knees would give. but all the sounds and stuff wouldnt phase me. if it's not real I dont mind those things
But if your family were outside of the box you'd quickly reconsider the reality of the sounds. In fact, after a while, your mind would repeatedly remind you that the haunting hellish noises are indeed about your loved ones, irrespective of your attempts at rationally fixing the nonsensical cognitive noise.
Thats the thing, it doesn't look scary but the issue with a black box is that it makes you go insane. Its basically EXTREMELY uncomfortable and feels like you cant breathe.
Way Burale You're right but hear me out. From semantic point of view the knife indeed is just an instrument, and the user of the knife is left untold. But I think it's safe to say that most of the language users understand the said phrase and don't question who is doing the cutting because in this case it less important than knowing what the cutting is made with. Just like in a phrase "A car took the right turn" the car and its destination are the main interest. The driver of the vehicle is secondary if at all. And everyone still understands that the car wasn't driving itself.
Suutari4 Okay, but you never hear anyone say, just for example, "today an AA-12 shot 3 people". Or at least I don't ever hear that, anyway. I understand what you're saying, I was just joking around.
What would you choose, this being done to a person who wants kill thousands of people or no torture and thousands of die to a terrorist attack. Would you do this to get information, prevent an attack and save lives.
keitumetse Mabuza If somebody is guilty take them through the legal justice system. Torture has been proven to simply not work. People will just say anything and make stuff up to try and stop it. The CIA abducted hundreds of innocent people from around the world and tortured them and there is no justification for that.
Andrew Murphy That argument is made a lot, that it doesn't work. Now I largely agree but let us get into the details of it. They were using enhanced interrogation techniques, notably not torture by design. However, a select few of the techniques are torture but not even the majority of them I would say are torture. Furthermore all of the techniques used were done so absent of questioning. They would ask questions, receive no response or insufficient response and then apply the techniques. And that was it. They knew not to interrogate and apply techniques at the same time. I am skeptical when I hear people say that it was wholly unethical and that it was wholly ineffective. I know for a fact too much of it was unethical, and those instances of ethical violations were not properly addressed, but to say the entire program used by the US was of no use to anyone is a dubious claim.
MrLgmhandler Maybe it does sometimes achieve results but that doesn't mean it works. After all a stopped clock is correct twice a day. One of my biggest problem with it is the majority of people were completely innocent and were just abducted because some half wit bureaucrat thought they might know something.
Andrew Murphy We know how many of these people had what techniques applied to them. If I recall correctly, the majority did not receive torturous techniques.
+keitumetse Mabuza Even the hardest most disgusting torture couldn't achieve anything. If you look at the official files about some of the 9/11 terrorists and how they've been extremely tortured for a long period of time they couldn't get any more information out of them then before. Mainly because under everything they have to go through they go completely insane. They were speaking about complete outbreaks. They were crying, screaming and you could just see a broken insane person. They can't tell you anything at such a mental state. Some people may justify that as a punishment for the crimes they are accused of but for getting information this is a horrible technique without much success.
boy oh boy, do you not understand the limits and boundaries of the psychological mind 😂 its all different for every person, but this shit is way more intense than on screen, ya'll don't understand
haha its not really about the 12 minutes its how all the small things combined that fucks up your mind. Being stuffed in a small compartment makes your mind play tricks on you and you have the pain in your body from not being able to move at all. And psy sounds to that and a normal person without any training will break in no time. And the fact that she even lasted 12 minutes is because she knows that she can get out. If you add the fear of being in the mercy of your captives then its another ballgame.
How can this not be called torture? It's even worse than physical torture. At one point your brain will blend out pain and you can train yourself to do so but this is unspeakable
Now think for a moment that if you're the person being tortured. You will need to say anything they want so that they stop, which is only going to make things worse in the long term. That feeling of hopelessness and loneliness is impossible to imagine.
This would be a wonderful torture to those who repeatedly annoy their neighbors in the early hours of the morning while playing their music loud. We can have them all put in a box and play "It's a small world after all".
holes would probably be in the bottom, where you can't see them. Anyone who thinks about such things will have added stress of thinking about their air supply....
The flaw with any experiment like this is the participant knows they are in no real danger, they can end it any time and there is a set end point. Being thrown into the box without any idea of when you will be able to leave is a very different matter.
She has it far better. The knowledge that you can leave whenever you want to is something one of the actually tortured people don’t have

That time when a couple brings a crying baby onboard a plane
I had the same thought :)

I work in pediatrics and phlebotomy. There was a study done on the pitch of a infants cry and its correlation to hearing damage. By the end of the study it was recommended that we wear ear plugs if we are exposed for longer than 2 minutes.

*****
well torture is more effective as a punishment than you want to know.
*****
ahh was the foundation you built your faith in this so weak you couldnt take the fact that you lost this one, you cant really give up this easy.
You never even presented any scientific research. Your argument isn't credible.

Until you do it and get ptsd from just a babies cry
But if your family were outside of the box you'd quickly reconsider the reality of the sounds. In fact, after a while, your mind would repeatedly remind you that the haunting hellish noises are indeed about your loved ones, irrespective of your attempts at rationally fixing the nonsensical cognitive noise.

idk I think I would still be more afraid of a knife cutting me...
Thats the thing, it doesn't look scary but the issue with a black box is that it makes you go insane. Its basically EXTREMELY uncomfortable and feels like you cant breathe.
Bohan Xu knives don't cut you, haha. People cut you with knives, very simple.
Think of it like being put into a coffin alive not knowing you'll come out.

Unbearable
Now this is just torture at it's finest
Some people may justify that as a punishment for the crimes they are accused of but for getting information this is a horrible technique without much success.
over long periods of time this would be torturous but 12 minutes? come on that's weak.
+Online Hero in the summer sun fine but it wasn't that hot there she didn't even break a sweat.

+Christopher Boyd Hey! Girls are just as tough as guys!!! Jk
boy oh boy, do you not understand the limits and boundaries of the psychological mind 😂 its all different for every person, but this shit is way more intense than on screen, ya'll don't understand
haha its not really about the 12 minutes its how all the small things combined that fucks up your mind.
If they are actually doing this, that is very unhumanly against people.

holes would probably be in the bottom, where you can't see them. Anyone who thinks about such things will have added stress of thinking about their air supply....
The flaw with any experiment like this is the participant knows they are in no real danger, they can end it any time and there is a set end point. Being thrown into the box without any idea of when you will be able to leave is a very different matter.
