- Being confined in a tiny box with no light and zero room to move would drive anyone crazy in minutes, but some prisoners were tortured this way for days... By the CIA. Check out today's new punishment video, blackout box torture, to find out about one of the worst tortures in history.

imagine being innocent and actually going through this pain, being forced to confess
You would say anything to stop the pain, even so far to "admitting" you did the crime you never commited.
Imagine how much that person would hate his captors.
That’s why torture is ineffectual with information gathering. A person being put under intense physical and psychological will force them to say and do anything just to make the stress end.
Also any society that practices this just devolves into being the very thing they hate.
@@hoopsonwheels you gotta remember these techniques are extremely effective for gathering info from guilty subjects. Also a very small percentage of people who go through this are innocent since the CIA only preform this on subject that they are very sure are the target they are seeking.
@@icywhisper2473 yet they still manage to get the wrong person despite your words 'since the CIA only preform this on subject that they are very sure are the target they are seeking'
It's wild how people actually caused things like this and went to sleep the same day. How?
They could be sociopaths. However the answer more likely is rationalization. The people who perform these acts justify it to themselves by dehumanizing and alienation they see their victims as the other.
@@hoopsonwheels What you said, plus I imagine performing torture breaks your mind aswell. The first few times you might feel bad and have to rationalize it but after a while it's just an everyday thing, you become desensitized.
@@hoopsonwheels It was stated in the video that the CIA does not hire sociopaths. "They can not be controlled."
@@_DMNO_ i don’t know, you’d have to be a special type of person to be able to sleep and go on like normal after doing something like that.
@Tony Stark Oh yeah a word from Mr. Stark from reality.
Torture has also been shown to be among the worst methods for extracting info. Obviously your interrogators don't know the truth, or else they wouldn't be torturing you for info. You can "break" early and give them false info.
It doesn’t always work giving false information as they might keep you captured until the information is verified
@@DjAmaratziOfficial yeah but sometimes people simply confess even thou they didn't do anything only so for the torture to be stopped
@@amall9627 yeah youre right thats why FBI doesnt use it
Shut up
Well they only care about information that they like so even if you tell them your life story they don't care what are you going to say. ''i'm from al quada'' then ur gonna end up in jail or worse so yeah they donlt care about the truth
Anyone ever think that from the black box, water boarding, even to the heart attack gun, etc. What methods have they never made public that are so extreme dark and evil. We look at the torture methods we know of as unbelievable acts of mankind. Imagine what they've never told us
Woah…Heart attack gun?
Exactly,this is what scares me
Bold of you to assume the CIA could successfully keep that secret
Look up targeted individuals.
Probably something to do with psychedelics/mk ultra stuff.
this is so sick. i’m scared of humans sometimes. even if they did something wrong, it isn’t right.

When I was probably about 9 or 10 years old, my brother locked me in a toy box (one of those football shaped ones that seemed to be popular in the 90’s). I was in there for 9 hours until a parent came home. It was a terrible experience and I still cannot handle tight spaces. It gets hard to breathe.
Did your brother confess?
Bro wtf is wrong with your brother
@@CambrenSievert yeah
My family had one of those football shaped boxes.
Jeez i feel bad
No matter how dangerous crimes someone is accused of OR actually done no country government that dare to call themselves "civilised" should allow torture.
Especially if they critisize other countries for doing the same!
This reminds me of Li Wangyang, a worker right activist in China who was “suicided” (the passive voice is intentional). Before his death, he was confined in coffin-sized cell for over 20 times, ranging from one month to three every time. This was revealed when he was interviewed by a Hong Kong media after his release. However, he was found dead 4 days after the interview was broadcasted, claimed suicide by Chinese officials.
So they're responsible for his death either way.
It’s spelled Lil Wayne **
Isolation combined with the distortion of time over an extended period is the most tried and true way to permanently break the human mind.
This is why solitary confinement is considered a form of torture
@@hoopsonwheels it really is. It's not right to do to a person at all. Only the most vile of criminals deserve it.
Nobody deserves this.
Just sounds like the average day of a discord mod tbh

You can also try Oversimplified, the learnings you get there are really unparalleled
While not always 100% accurate they definitely give you something to think about
Gives more information about what went on in the past and the difficult times people went through

Yeah theyre own insane twisted version of justice. But i know what you mean. What kind of mental gymnastics do you have to do to rationalise things like that...
i'm feeling uncomfortable just by listening. i can't imagine what staying there for 29 hours would feel like.
Every single one of these tortures proves to me that at any time we humans could be capable of doing the unimaginable to each other. Depraved we are.
When I went to SERE school in 2001, I was put in a barrel that was dark and cramped. After evading the cadre all night in the cold, I actually got some good rest in because it was 80 degrees.

...and anyone who actually did go through the SERE training knows how to tell that you're lying.
That "wetherspoons" joke was top tier! Only people who've been to Britain / live here in the UK will truly understand! Good one @The Infographics Show
I'm not sure how valuable information from a psychologically and emotionally traumatized individual would be.
"You don't even get good information that way... victims would say anything to make the pain stop."

What the heck, they allowed this? Call the police, save the children there the torture
I was diagnosed in 2019 (pre-pandemic) with Non-Combat PTSA. This country has broken me down the point where I am exhibiting many of the same symptoms of ppl who have done multiple tours of combat. Me, on the other hand, gets a paper cut or bad burrito, and I take the entire day off 😅

Love your content keep it up!!!!
A lot of people seem to believe that this only started shortly after the events of 9/11.
Not true: In 1998 I was working with my Parents and another contractor as a mover, and our customer was an Army Lt. Colonel who was an intelligence attaché. He held a Ph.D in Psychology, but from what his Wife told my Mother, he was being reassigned elsewhere in order to research more effective interrogation techniques.
Chillingly, he was one of several names mentioned in The Torture Memos (edited by David Cole). According to that book he retired a Brigadier General and was instrumental in coming up with a lot of what we started doing to detainees.
Its portrayed in the movie; Mauritanian
I wish my history teacher was this good at teaching

This reminds me of the couple playing hide and seek and the man crawled in a suitcase and his girlfriend zipped him up in there. She first said they were super drunk and she forgot he was in there and passed out upstairs...but her phone told a different tale. She recorded her BF beging for her to let him out...he ended up dying but just for the simple fact that he thought he was going to get out because he felt safe with his SO makes his ordeal so unreal...shame shame shame...tsk tsk tsk..

"i have so many good ideas. the cia will have to pay me a royalty every time they say torture." i think thats the right quote.
Isn’t torturing for info past a certain point of time beyond cruel and unusual. I think they made up their mind if they are gonna blab or not and there is probably a good chance that they don’t know what you want. I think that sleep deprivation like that one list had it best. If you know that it would end you’ll say something. If people don’t know it they are ever going to let you out of a box even if you tell I wouldn’t say anything
@@briondalion I thought it had sleep deprivation and something else as one of most effective or preferred. They also might or probably have a safe limit where they can tell you are getting too tired or its unsafe by vital signs or something.
Any kind of torture for any length of time is cruel and unusual. There's no "acceptable" amount of torture.
If it was that simple
The only difference between this and jail is about 5 feet
Our society judges the worst examples of cruelty rather than prohibiting cruelty entirely. It's like if a government did a smaller scale genocide, but people didn't care because the Holocaust or great leap forward was worse.
The fact that the guy that whistle blew went to prison shows how messed up the CIA is
Love the content. Keep it up 🔥
The CIA never fails to be inhuman...

Your such a good teacher your the best
this is the darkmode of white room torture
That was exactly what I was thinking when I clicked on this video!!
Oh so that's why you did a video comparing the CIA and the KGB.
imagine the people working for the cia who are okay with subjecting people to this.
Im only thinking of how I slept 13hours in a capsule hotel… It isn't that much of a torture to stay in cramped spaces unless you have a phobia of small and dark places, the thing that's really scary is the unpredictability of the whole situation and it's also the factor that drives most people insane, imagine being kidnapped out of nowhere and thrown into one of these.
The difference is that while the hotel is small it’s designed for comfort while this is designed to literally mentally break someone
You're not just "in a small space", you're in a position you physically can't get out of. Ya ever had a partner or pet lay on you when they're sleeping and you start to get a bit uncomfortable because ya can't move? Or had your legs start to ache in a long car ride? It's the exact same thing in a far more uncomfortable position for a far longer length of time.
I would like to see these interrogation methods used on rich and, or influential people. So far US has used these types of interrogation on poor and, or minorities.
I would like to see these interrogations methods used on no one.
So many times America commits human rights atrocities, yet is never held accountable for these crimes against humanity
Love the weatherspoons reference 🇬🇧
Interesting how this is supposed to be “the land of the free,” unless your suspicious of espionage or other crimes, when your actually innocent. (Even if you are the real criminal, these “techniques” should not be utilized AT 👏🏻ALL👏🏻😡)
If you are a real criminal these techniques should be used against you till your catatonic enough to never hurt a human being again

Would have been a lot worse if instead of a small box they used a massive building completely blacked out, you don’t know where you are or who is there it’s infinitely more horrifying
Oldspeak: torture.
Newspeak: "Enhanced Interrogatory Technique".
so this is what technoblade meant by :" *advanced interrogation techniques* "
I've been tortured by being locked in the black box twice and having all of my teeth yanked out with pliars twice after they were fused back in place .
In the end the thing that really broke me was trying to convince me a person I loved was murdered in her sleep on her bed .
In reality , they covered her in chicken blood , drugged her with something that lowers the heart rate to make it seem like the person is dead . That really broke me down to a state of grief where I had my wrists slit and almost bled myself to death .
Imagine being in a small box with spiders in it 😢
It's horrific if done to innocent people, but terrorists aren't human so its fine to torture them.
