Such a glorious, uplifting piece of work. "Love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves". Amazing. Even though they were both icons of 70's glam/glitter rock (and both had long moved on from that by the time this was recorded), they were VERY different artists, and you wouldn't think they would have blended so well together. Yet they came up with something that was completely different from anything either one was doing at the time. There is no other David Bowie song that sounds like this. There is no other Queen song that sounds like this. It's incredible how they came together this one time and managed to create something so unique.
I've always loved the anecdote on how the baseman found the riff while David Bowie and Freddy Mercury were chatting in the studio. When they heard the riff everybody were quite enthusiast and they decided to make a song with it, but only after eating something. Back in studio after their meal, the base player couldn't remember exactly what he had been playing two hours earlier.
