I've watched a LOT of videos recently regarding Subaru DIY (timing belt and GDTcly4). This is easily one of the best. Regarding this mod in particular, I haven't seen anyone show/perform the hose modification nearly as well as you. I was specifically looking for this before I hacked into the wrong hose, can never be too sure! I'm confident now, thank you.
You are welcome, and thank you for the kind words that does mean a lot to me. I’m happy I could help in some way 😄
Probably the best tutorial I seen on this install. Great video
I have a 2013 and boy how i wish you did too since im about to do the same upgrade but im cylinder #3. Your videos are so well done i wish you had more cars to work on.
Definitely need to do this for my 19 sti. Once I do, this will be the video I follow if I need help lol. Thanks for the vid
You are very welcome 😌
I did this mods same as in your video and you're right it does pull coolant out of the engine into the heater core but then I had another issue no air conditioning
Awsome teacher bro .very detailed very well illustrated. Keep on tthe gratuitement job ✌️
Now this is a tutorial video 👍🏻🙌🏼
😁
Thanks this is a great video.
Thank you for showing me how to swap the coolant in my 2018 sti the dealer told me they wouldnt do it!! I have 0 mods on the car just a daily driver but i like to keep my fluids fresh
Happy to help 😁
Agreed, a replacement windshield is expensive... That's why you should file a claim with your auto insurance company, then they can schedule an appointment to have your windshield replaced for free. At least that's how it works here in Florida.
That’s one way to do it, but with my insurance I would still have to pay a deductible and it would also make my monthly payments go up for my coverage doing it that way.
What front lip is the one you have ? Dope video bro
New version of the GDT has a L shaped hose for that bend
Do you have to remove the bolts that are located on each side of the oil pan that have a torx head ?? Hope fully you can reply
Would anyone happen to know if this is done the same exact way on a 2017 Forester premium w/ 2.5 L engine or is the hose set up slightly different?
I don’t understand why you kept the cooling mod hose pinched off while filling it up initially? Wouldn’t that result in more air in the system from that much area of the mod being empty? Or all said and done, is it much easier to do it in sections since your getting rid of majority of the air bubbles first?
Is this modification require on all Subaru engine or just the EJ. Does the FB and FA engine require it?
Is there a difference on the connecting hose? I saw some videos where they connect the upper hose and then there's this where people connect the bottom?
Sorry guys, I'm late😂 is it installable to ej20g turbo? I got 97' jdm forester
Hello from Kent Washington !!!
Would that work on a Subaru wrx 2017
Thanks leo
Congrats once again🎉 💪🏼
Why don't any of you subaru owners know about the petcock valve on radiators... way less mess and much easier to work with.
What year is your Sti? Mines a 2020 and the hose I cut does not have that middle covering. Could I had cut the wrong hose??
I'm unsure if it matters. But the instructions call for the lower heater hose on the firewall.
Just wondering why you blocked off the cyl 4 mod when you added coolant?
In the installation instructions, Dom recommended to pinch the Cyl 4 Cooling Mod off I believe to prevent air bubbles from getting trapped inside. So I figured I’d do it since it’s something he wrote in there.
@@BeeAboveAverage are you supposed to pinch it while you pour in coolant ??
Oh yeah 😩 the way it gushes out 🥴🧐
😅
1 question man, which mod did you do first, the koyoradiator or the cooling 4 mod?
I did the cyl 4 cooling mod first :)
@@BeeAboveAverage are you located in California?
I’m sure that you don’t have to pinch the hose.

Bro where are your jack stands? Safety first.
Please provide more cat footage.
First of all why did you clamp off the cooling mod hose when you filled the system? secondly there is no reason to turn the heater to max, it was done in the past when the heater circuit was controlled by a valve, newer cars don't have this valve as coolant is always flowing through the heater core.
