- in this video I tried to demonstrate the potential throttle adjustment error codes you may encounter. I adjusted it to loose and I adjusted it too tight to make the EFI system think there was an issue. I also show how to properly adjust the throttle linkage.
Lastly I will suggest that you do not use the Niche brand throttle housing as the resistance across the contacts is different compared to the stock OE Polaris throttle assembly.

Same damn thing happened to me last weekend and i had no reception to get on the googles and check it out. I thought it was a bad spark plug, the check engine light would only come on when i hit the throttle and the quad with sputter and run horrible but at idle it was perfect. so i had no engine diagnostic code to read so the quad just sat till i got it home, missed out on a day and a half of riding. That is exactly what it was, bad cable tension, plus the plastic housing for the safety wires was sticking a bit so the wires were staying contacted. All sorted out know. So dumb i didn't check that but didn't even thingk of it. thanks for the explanation so i can better understand it. Def going to do a complimentary video to yours on my channel.

TRS SWITCH OPERATION OVERVIEW
The Throttle Release Switch (TRS) switch is designed to
close during throttle movement in the event the throttle
cable sticks or breaks.
When the throttle lever is at idle position, the TRS switch
contacts should be closed (touching). When the throttle
lever is moved the contacts will open and allow normal
operation. If the contacts remain closed or become
closed during throttle movement, the ECM will limit
engine RPM.
Mine had that code and my sportsman 850 shuts off randomly while driving is that a symptom of the throttle sensor do you know ? Thank u

Throttle Cable Stuck TRS is CLOSED
Pins 1 and 2: 2.15kΩ
It's the wiring harness for the TPS. Had the same problem with my machine. Had to force Polaris with a lawyer to make them fix it under warranty. They changed the wiring harness. Problem solved.

Aren’t the contacts supposed to be a mm or two apart ?
My sportsman has been crawling in idle. Do you know why this could be? I replaced the one way beating in the clutch. It was blown up. Helped the problem but didn’t fix it.

My 2021 sportsman 450 has a little slack in the throudle but it still runs good
Be Careful putting foreign materials near your throttle, a zip tie could potentially shake loose and get wedged between the throttle case during wide open throttle and your throttle will not retract back. Could be potentially dangerous and cause a crash.
I don’t see how the rubber boot comes apart on mine. It looks like one piece on the cable.
Did you ever figure that out? Haha I’m about to cut mine just to get to it. Dumb design 😂

I had a 520194-7 code, put in the zip tie and ended up with a 520194-7 and a 520194-3 code.
