The Leftist cult has more power, control over institutions and believes ends justifies means to destroy all those they find offensive. The moral majority wanted to stop the object of offense, not destroy lives. The right never had power the leftwing cult has today. We are headed for disaster if things don’t change.

And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. Isn’t it just so sad that I’m the nineties and early 2000s we were literally one step away from actually being a color blind society? We were right there. And then went screaming back to puritanicalism. And the funny and probably most sad part about it? It was the first Black President, in my view, that got us there.
It was the One Two punch of the 2000 election and 9/11. The vehemence and anger after the Florida debacle metastasized with the fear after 9/11 to kill King's Dream. They may have erected that memorial to MLK but it's not for the success of his life's work and sacrifice but it looks more like an epitaph to it's failure and "what might've been"
Yup, it was definitely the fault of Obama that brought back the rampant racism we see today since the democrat party used racism to deflect criticism from their holy black messiah. Absolutely ironic yet tragic that Americans voted for him in the first place to show that America has progressed past racism just to end up stumbling back into the shitter for their future generations to now put up with.
@@kittycat5972 Not really, people voted for Obama to "absolve" themselves of their white guilt, which is a form of self-loathing racism.
Truth is, a color blind society is impossible unless you drug everyone into mindlessness. Humans will always form in and out groups, and race is one of the most basic ones.
When Obama won, I thought "Oh well. At least that'll put the capstone on American Racism. The final piece confirming it's truly dead."
I swear to god, every single time I try to be positive about a Democrat gaining office, I end up being proven wrong. Literally the first time I heard "America is a white supremacist nation" was when we had a black president. The damage that man did is astounding.
But then... he also prepped us for the God Emperor. I think Trump could only ever have been elected as a populist leader once things started to go bad. Perhaps President Race Baiter was a blessing in disguise.
Ironically.
I don't think it was Obama being Black that caused him to win.
It was the failure of Bush, and wanting to shake up Politics (Almost like we did with Trump in 2016) that elected Obama.
Sadly him basically being Bush but an African Re-skin, and him basically still being in the DC swamp, just canceled that notion outright. Had Obama actually been the change he wanted to be, we could of had America being a slightly Lib Left country, but still kept that 90s and 2000s Punk Culture.
But him and the Democrat party ran on a platform of trying to serve every group, and having Public and private opinions, and it basically lead to the Balkinization of the Democrat party. Even if some gamers were sexist or racist, all the discriminated against had to do was pick up the controller and prove that they were better than those assholes.
@@Sines314 The ranting about capitalism in video games at the beginning of the video is funny because when the details of Zoe Quinn and Kotaku were being revealed, I started pining for the days of Doritos and Mountain Dew. hm you have to kind of consider what it grew out of. jackass grew out of skateboard bail videos. sadly its an inescapable part of skateboarding to injure yourself and skateboard tapes usually featured a section for people to "bond" over. like "yes, like you even the icons of the sport fall and hurt themselves, often worse than you even". jackass started when someone asked the question of "what is the best way to defend yourself, electroshockers, pepperspray or what else?" and johnny knoxville who was making skatevideos at the time decided to try them all out on himself, that turned into a huge sucess"

The whole "no zoomer can ever be a real gamer" thing is why I get frustrated with people who just LOOOVE Harry Potter these days. I read the books as they came out and was mercilessly teased and mocked as a 'nerd' because I read the books constantly and had every spell and detail from them memorized. Now suddenly everyone in my generation loves Harry Potter? Everyone my age talks about what Hogwarts house they're in cuz they love it so much? Cuz it was their 'childhood'? It's ridiculously hypocritical and frustrating.
Way off topic, I know, but hearing Dev talk about zoomers claiming to be gamers suddenly made me realize why I'm frustrated with modern Harry Potter fans- cuz they weren't bullied for it like I was.

On a more specific note to this video, back when the southpark episodes that made fun of gingers aired I found it hillarious as a ginger myself, I embraced the jokes and ridicule my peers gave me afterwards and it made me a better person as well as make those same people respect me more. Im glad I managed to keep this mentality and to this day, me and my friends make fun of each other and everything is a go.
If everybody sees stereotypes as the stupid joke they really are and embraces them as such, it completely takes the power away from the people who believe them to be actually true, those who try to hurt others by bringing them up. That is one of the major reasons the current political left is actually hurting the cause they claim to stand behind. Irreverance is the strongest weapons against all the -isms in the world.

What’s particularly interesting to me about Jackass as a cultural phenomenon is that a big reason why it and it’s related projects exist at all is because of Adam Spiegel/Spike Jonze- an arthouse film maker who still works with the jackass guys while doing more serious films like 2014’s Her. I feel like people tend to forget that “irreverent art” can still exist in symbiosis with “high art”. Sometimes we just need to embrace the fact that life is fucking ridiculous.
You can express your disagreement with your audience in a professional way. You don't have to always go the "get on the ride or get out my way" mentality, especially when politics ain't even your show's forte. How can anyone view that G4 lady's actions as anything but needlessly antagonistic?
A million times THIS. You'd think people would had learned the "do's and don'ts" about approaching these sort of issues all the way back since 2015-2016, but I guess not. I don't doubt that sexism is still a noticeable issue in gaming spaces, but going about it this way does you no favors imo. At best you'll just cause "gridlock" sort of outcome when discussing multi layered loaded issues of this nature. Or worse, undo some progress that others prior fought tooth and nail to accomplish.
Personally, I think the best way to make meaningful progress with these sorts of issues is to have a reasonable amount of patience and work at cultivating at getting people on your side organically. The "drawing the line in the sand" method of presenting your political stances is way too risky for a setting like this. But I mean, ultimately, they're free to do what they want. Just wondering now if they're genuinely ready to lay in the bed they made...
Imagine giving any thought to what twitch chat says… nobody actually cares how attractive you are, and we won’t know if you have solid game knowledge if you talk about sexism instead of video games.
When Twitch was new, recently spun off of Justin (dot) tv, and being featured in some Starcraft tournament, it was obvious the meta was the chat scrolls so fast you have to say the most heinous shit to stand out as the text flies by. How it's a decade later and people haven't caught on is baffling.

"Reactionary" yup this one would fill ditches.
She then goes on to discredit anything they do by admitting its now their own opinions
One of the reasons I believe that Monty Python's Flying Circus and Mel Brooks are the undisputed king of Irreverent comedy, is because they cultivated an atmosphere of ridiculousness. You went in knowing nothing was taken seriously, and everything was on the market for jokes. But you also knew, even in these modern times where everything should be taken at face value, that nobody was anything they portrayed on screen. What was on the screen was entertainment and nothing else. That atmosphere of "let's all have a laugh" is so catastrophically missing from modern comedy that it's practically a black hole. We know exactly what's missing and so do they but they try to ignore it, but we can't. We grew up knowing that what's on the screen isn't real, how the hell did we go so far backwards when we were all screaming it back then? I honestly don't get it.
It's funny that the most controversial thing about Blazing Saddles wasn't punching horses, beating up old women, or the judicious use of the "n-word" but the outing of show biz male dancers as gay, as if everyone didn't already know.
I think this is why Spoof movies no longer exist. You remember all that stuff right? Airplane, Scary Movie, Wet Hot American Summer?
Thank you Dev. I've been saying this for a while The moral authority has shifted from the right to the left.
Moralist authoritarianism certainly has.
I am reminded David Foster Wallace's essay on irony. He explains: "“This is because irony, entertaining as it is, serves an almost exclusively negative function. It’s critical and destructive, a ground-clearing. Irony is singularly unuseful when it comes to constructing anything to replace the hypocrisies it debunks.”
He also explains how it creates a great sense of loneliness and oppression: “I find gifted ironists sort of wickedly fun to listen to at parties, but I always walk away feeling like I’ve had several radical surgical procedures. And as for actually driving cross-country with a gifted ironist, or sitting through a 300-page novel full of nothing but trendy sardonic exhaustion, one ends up not only feeling empty but somehow… oppressed.”
DFW argues that irreverence, postmodernism, irony, whatever you want to call it, is bad because it generates loneliness due to it fostering distance and distrust over trust and that it fosters oppression because it rewards those who tear down over those who build up.
DFW recommends that only sincerity can create meaning and fulfilment. I can now see why shows like Schitt's Creek and Ted Lasso are so popular, because those shows are its very core sincere.

This aged like a fine wine.... RIP G4
That five second review. I have not laughed that hard in my life without mushrooms being involved. Oh the annals of internet history
The fall of classic G4 is the literal reason I cut my cable years ago. This? Evoking zero nostalgia. That Disney Channel gaming block did it better.
Also, just gotta say, if a bunch of nerdy girls said they rubbed their bean thinking about me, I'd be pretty dang pleased with myself.
Such a missed opportunity, too, and a way to combine old media and new media tactics. For example, in the 90s there were a number relationship advice radio shows hosted by women. Once in a while they'd get sexually explicit prank calls but the general reaction was to just roll with it briefly before moving onto the next caller. The 2020s version of this would be to read out the nasty superchats in a sultry voice or some other quasi-erotic mannerism. It'd connect a familiar, nostalgic vibe with a newer but also familiar monetization and crowd interaction method. And the screeching woman would get the respect she desperately wants by doing this.
She also told us that the content they’re reading, they didn’t write; someone behind the camera did. I can’t imagine that that’s going to fly in the gaming media space these days…
Dev, I wanted you to know, that I had a dream about you:
You and I went on a trip to China together. We went to a flea market and I was enamored with Disney jigsaw puzzles for some reason. (I don't even like puzzles.)
Then you were recognized by a South African gangster who had a bone to pick with you, but I managed to tackle the guy and save you.

Reverence = respect for religion. At least that was the definition the Boyscouts of America used in the mid 90s.
I've noticed that there is an inverse correlation... Reverence for religion means being able to be irreverent about everything else. But irreverence for religion means that everything else takes on reverence.
Even religion must be taken with a spot of irreverance, lest you fall for the trappings of the religion and forget God (metaphysical or metaphorical, your choice in belief!) in the process.
