- Director Andy Muscheitti is introducing Supergirl for the first time in DC movies, and she is very different from what we’ve seen on The CW. Sasha Calle is playing Supergirl in the DCEU. But why is she imprisoned? Why does her origin story seem so different from what we’ve seen in the comics and the CW series? We’re going to answer all these questions in this video.

I like this version of Supergirl. It feels more natural, her dark hair makes more sense when you realize she is the cousin of Superman. Also, her suit is amazing. Unlike that mini-skirt that she wears, this one feels like it was built for combat (minus the cape of course). The short hair also makes sense because she's a fighter, long hair in melee range is just asking for disaster.

Kara Zor El is the captain of the Kryptonian scout ship from the Man of Steel movie which had crashed on Earth 18 thousand years ago according to the Man of Steel story line. Probably frozen in the ice for all those years until the military found her.
That's funny I've seen that movie several times and not once did I catch that.

since they are basically only making her Supergirl appearance a one-off appearance, to be retconned out immediately, i think they could bring her back as another character. I think she would make an amazing actress for Donna Troy

to those giving this super girl a hard time. in Flashpoint Paradox, Thawne talks about time ripples and how small changes are made super girl having short brown hair can be one of those small changes. She will most likely not appear in other super girl movies, because she will not be able to shine in a movie that is about The Flash. Her role in this movie will be tertiary at best. I think I will like her version of super girl.

You're not the only one looking forward to seeing Supergirl again. Kara Zor-El was my first crush when she arrived on Earth in 1959. This version looks awesome in the preview. I hope my expectations aren't crushed.

I think they make these changes because they don't want to pay the authors of the comics so they change up the story line and the appearances to the characters .
They still have to pay the creators estates if they're calling her Supergirl...

@@Ghost-un6oe Yes they have to pay creators but the author of Flashpoint ;they don't want to pay him for that story. Instead of using Superman for that story, they use Supergirl. And this is the problem with DC /Warner Bros of not staying true to the comics.
This is the Multiverse we're talking about where's there's many different variants and origins of the same person and sometimes they're not even the same person or the same sex so the makers of this movie can go in any direction they choose.

I think Snyderverse set a particular look for Kryptonians; they are all dark-haired with light or dark eyes so it's not surprising Kara is dark-haired. I wonder what happened to Clark in this new universe? Was he sent somewhere else or did he even exist?
I think Zod was successful in stopping Jor-El from sending Clark to earth and killing him in the process.

I was worried they would try to replace Cavil as Superman with another actor but I didn't consider this angle. Retiring Cavil without a replacement (there can be no successor to Cavil) and introducing Supergirl instead definitely works IMO and now I'm fired up for this character and ready to see this movie.

@@karazor-el9596 It's not that simple. It's not like they are not just replacing Cavill, they are rebooting the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Henry Cavill as Superman from day 1, and hated that they were moving on from him in the DCEU. While I will absolutely miss him as Supes, despite the success of the Snydercut, the majority of the rest of the DCEU was trash and was losing the studio hundreds of million of dollars.
@@eddieboncek2447 If you think James Gunn can save it then you've got another thing coming. His version of the Suicide Squad performed the worst out of all the movies ..plus the humor was awful. Expect more of that in the new DCU.

He has been brought over from Marvel in the hopes that he can do his "magic" and create a good, stable DC platform going forward. The thing is, to do that properly, he feels that he needs to start with a clean slate and not be constrained by cherry picking characters/actors or story lines from past DC movies (even popular ones).
I really hope he is successful.
The DCEU/Snyderverse, minus a couple films, has been trash, one single movie made recently doesn't erase the mess that came before it

DC requires a different formula for movies, they already tried bringing marvel directors in for movies and that resulted in the shitshow that is justice league it just doesnt work. And even then people hate supergirl so that alone will lose them money and the fact that they used flashpoint as an excuse to put supergirl in and cover up that they fired Superman is some bullshit and a slap in the face to Henry cavill and all super man fans. Also dc has a horrible track record of making female centric shows and movies.

I like this alternate version of Supergirl, did not know the origin story wich she was based on. Great video, glad the costume looks really good now to. Was seeing some leaks on here where the abs looked kinda strange. Now it's awesome, sad to know she is only in this movie tho. They change characters to fast imo. Henry would still be an amazing current Superman, just saying 👍🏼

My whole issue with the Superman Flashpoint comic is that it doesn't make any sense. How the hell would the government know about red sunlight, Krypton, kryptonite, etc when finding Clark or in this movie, Kara? They could have easily broken out as they got older because the government wouldn't have any information on them.
The Flash movie was really well done. I loved it actually. The DC Universe has been reset.
Maybe a Justice League 4 would Warner Bros bring back other versions. "Crisis on Infinite Earth"
I'm positive MOST actors would be on board. Grant as The flash and crew meeting Erza's Flash and the current Flash at that time. etc.

My guess is that this is is prolly great for the comic book buff.. but for the average movie goer it may be confusing and seem “silly” (not saying it is just think that may be their opinion). I’m stoked that a Latina (Sasha) is Supergirl! 🥳
No man, huge superman nerd here. I'm not happy with the changes at all. This also confuses my kids. i had a theory that this was actually Superwoman, the female version of superman but they double down and said this was Kara Zor El, which makes this entire thing feel fake to me, like a Fan movie. It's not canon, the character was made for this movie. Wish they gave her ANY other name than Kara.

You messed up the comic book origin of Supergirl by using the CW origin.
In the comic books, Kara was sent to Earth years later than Kal-El. She watched his adventures from Argo City, a city that survived Krypton's death because the whole piece of ground it was on was blasted into space whole. Plus, the city was encased in a dome.
Like the rest of Krypton, the ground turned into kryptonite, which they covered with lead sheeting. But one day, a meteor shower punched through the dome and lead sheeting. With the air escaping and the kryptonite exposed, Kara's parents put the young teen girl in a rocket and sent her to her cousin on Earth.
She didn't discover it until later, but her parents also survived. Her father had discovered a dimension similar to yet different and separate from the Phantom Zone that he dubbed the Survival Zone, and he projected himself and his wife into this place. They were later freed and took up residence in the re-enlarged Kandor. It was there that Superman took Kara's body after she was killed by the Anti-Monitor.
There's no one origin story.

However, they claimed that this was the original comic book origin, which it wasn't. I've been a fan of and reading comic books since the 1960s. (I'm as old as dirt.) I know the original origins of most of the heroes, both DC and Marvel, as well as the villains, and I'm a particular fan of the Superman Family, Kara included.
So trust me when I say that I know what I'm talking about.

Plain and simple this version of Super Girl is the Flashpoint Super Girl of the Flashpoint Paradox Super Man/Subject 1. DC did right with most of the film mixing Barry origin and the flashpoint. Now thinking about it what if Vicki Vale came back as Lady Joker like Martha Wayne/Joker that would've been cool. I love Flashpoint. I think this movie was better than the Super-Verse reguardless or how people feel about the actors/actress.

The Supergirl in the Flash movie is basically based on Lara Lane-Kent, James Gunn can still use the OG Supergirl later on down the road (which I'm hoping I get to see the OG Supergirl in the new DCU).
