LS Powered E30 vs. C8 Z06 Corvette at VIR plus PB lap time

- What a session! Met up on track with a beautiful C8 Z06 and we swapped positions back and forth for a few laps. Somewhere in the mix I pulled off a personal best lap time of 2:04.6. Always easier to find time when you're getting pressured to do so.
The car is such a workout - I was exhausted at the end of this session. No joke: I have been putting in time at the gym almost every day this year and I needed every bit of strength and endurance I had to handle the general anxiety and the leg muscle required to pull down the manual brakes. Could have used more strength so back to the gym I go!!!
GoPro 7s front and rear at 2k. GoPro 5 in car. Rear cam overheated 3/4 of the way through the session due to proximity to the exhaust and lack of air flow. The low air flow is why the sound quality is good (no external mic on this clip), however the cam shut off since it was in a low airflow hot spot. At that point the audio switches over to the in-car cam.

Clearly you have much better tires and are pushing the car harder in the corners (great driving!), but I was amazed at the speed difference between you guys down the straights! I wouldn't have guessed the C8Z would be THAT much faster down the straights! Thanks for sharing that awesome drive!
Yes R-comps vs street tires definitely makes a difference in the corners. I didn’t know it was a Z06 until AFTER the session when he came to say hi, so yeah imagine my surprise too 😂

Throttle to the floor, close your eyes, and start praying. I only had the marbles to go flat footed to T9 once. 130mph up the essses baby!!!

Wow. Great driving. Awesome car. Great sounds. Us folks in the corvettes wish we had the guts to drive an e30 like this. I can run a similar lap time, but it is nowhere near as impressive as what you are doing. I am going to proceed to binge watch all of your videos lol

It’s a great looking car and clearly has a ton of power. Hate the noise tho. Would love to see these swaps use an S58 instead
I’m partial to the V8 sounds myself. Amazing though that that S58 has over 100hp more than my old LS1. If I were to do it again, perhaps a S65 would do the trick. When I did the swap over 10 years ago, neither of those were options either because they didn’t exist or cost. And now rather than go through the trouble of another swap I’d rather buy the M4 😁

that was crazy fast but I just watched a guy doing 2:00 in a z51, not bad for a street car.
Pretty amazing that there is so much out there capable of 2 or sub 2 lap times right off the showroom floor.
Have you considered fitting a wider steering wheel? I feel that an extra 2 inches of girth might leave everyone more pleased.
@@DivadNoodeldehm-lz2gm 2” of extra girth would solve a lot of my problems.

As much as I love LS swaps in other cars there's something so wrong about those engine sounds coming from an E30.
I have great news for you my friend. I have E30s in various engine flavors including the M20 in my last video. 😁
