    Anker makes a really good small charger for the steam deck
    Its 30,000 milliamps or whatever its called
    Another accessory I have is
    1) 90° Angle Type-C adapter.
    So I can charge it without having a the cord awkwardly sticking out of top. Also helps prevent the cord from bending & wearing out faster
    2) Beats Flex Bluetooth Earbuds
    Little on the expensive side but totally worth it.
    3) 15.6 Portable monitor
    I travel a lot & i use the docking station along with the portable monitor to add a bigger screen. Cheaper than a gaming laptop

    Love your videos. Brand new Steam Deck owner, so I’m learning a lot from your vids and others. If I can recommend an Earbud that’s worth it and won’t break the bank, the Sony WF-C700N’s are fantastic and can pair with two devices at once.

    1. Don't use thumb grips unless you want to lose functionality. It's minor, and not used often, but there's a touch pad surface on top of each of the sticks that can prove to be extremely useful if bound to a command.
    2. If you got the 512 GB version with the glare resistant screen, you'll also want to get a glare resistant screen protector, or it'll just bring the glare back. In addition, if you got the 256 gb or 64 gb versions, then getting a glare resistant protector actually won't help you at all in outdoor environments unless you get a really thick one that might hinder touch controls either partially or entirely.
    3. Modding the storage requires that you be comfortable taking your device apart, that you can electronically ground yourself to prevent harm to the device (I recommend googling how to do that), and that you can work in an environment with little to no particles in the air.
    One thing you can technically do if you're worried about particles and have a spacious bathroom is turn on the shower with the space between your shower and the rest of the bathroom open just a crack, since that'll briefly make the particles wet, which will cause them to fall, but that also necessitates doing the modification inside of your bathroom with the door closed, which many people wouldn't be comfortable with.
    4. Grips are good. No additional comment. 👍
    5. D-Brand skins tend to wear off after only a few years and often are thick enough to make protective shells no longer fit on the deck.
    6. Case is good. No additional comment. 👍
    7. MicroSD cards aren't bad by any means, but they're bound to read and write data slower than the internal memory, so save games to one at your own risk.
    8. Charger is good. No additional comment. 👍
    9. Dock is good. No additional comment. 👍
    10. Won't really help unless you've also got a dock, but otherwise good. 👍
    11. Power bank is good. No additional comment. 👍
    12. Flash drives are extremely temporary and tend to stop working either after only a few months of reading and writing data to them or after wiping them enough times. If you just use them to store an operating system then they'll likely last far longer since you're effectively only wiping them and writing to them once if you just bought them before doing it.
    13. Earbuds are good. No additional comment. 👍

      for #1, assigning gyro aim to this is AMAZING and can help a ton. in FPS i prefer the touchpad as mouse option but in stuff like power washing sim the gyro aim is phenomenal.
      that being said im certain some people would prefer the gyro if they give it a try. shame people dont know about the feature. its one of my favorites.
      and for #7: make sure that anyone getting an SD card gets a name brand one. the shotty off brand ones are REALLY bad and can corrupt easy. realistically anything with high enough storage should be fine but i recommend sticking to name brands. my personal preference is the sandisk extreme ones. they're fast enough i dont notice much of the slowdown and getting a 1tb one was the easiest way to upgrade my decks storage. anything big i keep on my deck itself but having indie games and roms on the SD card is more than fine and with 1tb its a LOT of storage lol. especially when you consider the biggest m.2 you can get on the deck is 2tb.
      for #8, it is good to consider that fast charging can take some battery life off. its not a lot but with how hard it is to replace the battery this is definitely something that people should look into and see their personal preference. for me i think its fine but some people care more about the longevity of the device and aren't as comfortable replacing parts that are glued in that hard.

      What no, USB sticks don't die in a few months, or they couldn't sell them here in Europe where you need your product to work for at least 2 years lol
      I still have some of my 15+ years old usb sticks that are 2gb and are heavily used and still work decently, the main problem in using a flash drive is not that they break, is that they are extremely slow.

    You can get 3D printed compartments to put your charger and SD cards into that fit into the slot in the back of the default case, one even acts as a stand when removed. That said it won't fit much more, and wouldn't be built for a different charger(multi port 100w or the like).
    Don't have a 3d printer? There's plenty of services that print for you out there, I used Hubs(formerly 3DHubs) in the past, which at least then let me work with someone somewhat local for my prints(can't speak for it currently).

    Good vid. I liked a lot of your suggestions and am now looking for some new things to add to my deck. I thought I would add that for docking I've had good success with a simple USB type C dongle. I have a Anker 341(7 in 1) that works well. I don't have ethernet, on it, but I can plug it into my TV or a larger monitor and still use the deck controls. If I want to connect mouse and keyboard, I have a simple stand that I paid $12 for that keeps it upright for cooling and takes up less space.

    • @StewdioGamer
      @StewdioGamer  8 місяців тому +1

      There are a lot of USB Type C hubs that will work even if they weren’t specifically made for it. Just depends on if it has all the features you want. Sounds like you got a decent solution to it though!

      Does the Anker support 4k @60hz? Do you find that you ever need extra usb slots?

    • @allreddan
      @allreddan 7 місяців тому

      @@axeld00mI've never tested it at 4k - none of the games I run on it benefit from that resolution. The two USB slots on mine have been enough for now, but that is one area I could see wanting more of. Keep in mind that I usually will have the hub plugged in for HDMI and keep using the deck controls. Sometimes I've run a mouse and keyboard and it's enough for that. I will also say that there are SD and Mini SD card slots on my hub that I haven't been able to get to work, but that was with a card in the deck. I'm waiting for 3.5 to hit the safe channel as it should make running multiple cards easier from what I understand.

    Earbud wise, i recommend the wired KZ ZSN Pro X IEMs the quality and latency over the Bluetooth wireless earbuds for the steam deck make them amazing for the cheap price coming in at under $30, I even use them at home over the numerous speakers, soundbars, or headsets i have at the house ranging from $160-$300 because they sound so good.
    If you're like me and have a place to set up the dock on the go, the ARZOPA 15.6" 1080p portable monitor is fantastic and only costs $75 if you use the coupon thats currently available with it.
    If you plan on getting a mouse and keyboard I highly recommend the Logitech G915 TKL Keyboard and G502 mouse, they may be a bit pricey but will noticably perform far better than any cheap budget M+KB (I went through a $20 and $50 combo that felt terrible to use before breaking down and buying the Logitech), not to mention that without the RGBs on the batteries in them last days before needing to be charged. Its also easy to find nice carrying cases for both of these if you're taking them on the go.

    • @funny3591
      @funny3591 7 місяців тому

      There's much better IEMs at that price range than KZ's product line, especially the ZSN Pro X which have known durability issues not to mention how untrustworthy the company is. Salnotes Zeros, Moondrop Chus (the older version had issues with cable durability, the new version fixed this) are great options for a more neutral sound and Truthear Holas are a great option for a more pronounced V shaped sound profile. These are all cheaper than the ZSN Pro X IEMs and offer much better durability and sound quality.

      To be fair, you need the higher wattage if you plan on charging more than one device from that charger. I have several similar chargers around my house that are technically 100w chargers but they only do a fraction of that on each port, or they can do 100w on one port if that is the only port charging at that time. I typically use mine to charge both my phone and chromebook/steam deck at the same time so the extra wattage is a plus.

If memory serves something in the range of even 24,000 mAh will only charge a deck up around 3x give or take(they aren't perfectly efficient). To begin with I would recommend that the jsaux mod case because with the bundle you can get everything that you need on the steam deck. From a portable dog that sticks on the back of the device do a 20k mAH battery bank and other staff as well like a portable fan to lower the temps of the device like -5~-10 and a socket to make a spare M.2 ssd to an external ssd. When I visit my parents, I can play with my old gaming PC from 2005 and its still fun. What is less fun is, that near every music or fan noise makes my mother angry and we argue about this....my solution was a steam deck and I asked my father, if its cheaper in their country than in Switzerland. 2 Days later he asked if this is a Steam Deck and I said yes, but 64 GB is enough and I upgrade it later and he told me: "too late, the 512 GB is already ordered" Here I would have payed 800-900 bucks and he bought it for 500 or 550 bucks and he declares it as a gift 😅
    Last time Ive had a handeld was a Gameboy ^^ or Nintendo DS from my sister and really looking forward to try out the deck in 2 weeks. Ive already bought a Dock: Dockteck 7 in 1 USB-C, the version with the stand and it has 2 SD card slots but "only" 2 USB ports.
    Currently I am thinking about a "JSaux Modcase" and "JSaux screen protector."
    Any advice what to do first or, besides a obvious powerbank, what to buy next for the Deck?

    • @StewdioGamer

      Yeah you can download them to the steam deck and play them on the go without internet. You’ll want to connect to internet for game updates, steamOS updates, cloud saves. But otherwise yeah it’s portable.

    You can buy a rechargeable battery for the XBOX Controller. But having AA removable battery options is definitely superior, and will keep the controller lasting longer. Can you imagine having to unscrew and dismantle the controller to swap out the battery after a few years? Yuck.

  • @SuperSikarlo
    @SuperSikarlo 8 місяців тому +2

    Xbox doesn't have integrated batteries because people still enjoy standard AA batteries. The controller is still good after a decade.

      batteries fail and wear out over time. getting new rechargeables or one of those plug-in charge power banks is cheaper than getting a whole new controller. My only critique is there's no edition that comes with a battery pack as a combo.

    Honestly, no intregated battery is better. Like for instance, my DUELSHOCK4 barely holds a charge now, because batteries lose it over time. If I want to change it, I have to open it up and fiddle with wires. Meanwhile, my 8bitdo pro controller has a pack and accepts batteries and so when that loses charge over time, I can just buy a new one. Easy peasy.

    • @StewdioGamer
      @StewdioGamer  8 місяців тому +2

      Yeah a battery pack that is rechargeable and replaceable is the ideal solution. According to those Xbox leaks it looks like they might be moving that direction.
