Free Autotune Plugin - MAutoPitch | Free Plugin Friday Ep. 15

In this video we take a look at a free autotune plugin by MeldaProductions, called MAutoPitch. I show you how MAutoPitch works, and what it sounds like. You can use it for basic autotuning, but you can also use midi to control the pitch. You can customize the plugin by changing it's colors which is also cool.

Thank you for a clear and concise presentation, which seems to be rare today. Melda state that the plug-in includes a "man to woman" effect: is that a feature you did not cover, or does that refer to the change in formant?

Thanks! That’s what I’m trying to do. It’s been a while since I played with this plugin, but I’m assuming that they are indeed referring to formant shifting

@@MattFlanc Having played with the controls, I see that the preset is merely a modified formant setting, and not very good. There are more realistic plug-ins for such an effect, called voice changers. While Melda offers the best tutorial for setting its impressive variety of parameters, MAutoPitch renders an unacceptably poor sound quality; and it does not correct pitch well, even at extreme settings. Unless someone can demonstrate appreciable pitch correction, I will look for a better plug-in for the process.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s what I also experienced after using it more. For that exact reason I got myself waves tune. Does the job for me, and it’s reasonably affordable. Especially on sale

Hello! I was wondering if there was anyway to have MAutoPitch get MIDI notes from a MIDI track instead of a MIDI controller, and if so, how would you set that up?

That should be possible by creating a midi track with the notes already on it. However I don't know the exact configuration for MAutoPitch by heart so you'll need to check the manual

can you explain how to use it as a pitch shifter for example putting it on master and changing the whole pitch of the song??

Just put it on the master and choose what key you want I guess, although I doubt it would sound very good. Or if you mean just pitching the whole thing up or down then you probably want a different plug-in I would imagine.

how do you fix the flanger affect it gives when recording, been stuck trying to fix it for hours

Make sure that the DRY/WET is set to 100% wet. If it's still not fixed then, it's the plugins fault. I've noticed that MAutoPitch compared to other autotune plugins (like Waves tune real-time) has far worse sound quality unfortunately...

You have to download the MfreeFX bundle that is in the description. Then select what plugins you want to install and where

If you want to know what it does, I suggest you to just turn the knobs! Formants are essentially a resonance at a certain frequency, and shifting them allows you to pretty much tune up or down your voice by shifting those frequencies.
