  • Will they survive? We took two of our dolls to a local Titanic exhibit and had an amazing time. I hope you enjoy this video full of fashion, opulence, trivia, and yes, tragedy.

    Wow I didn’t realize you were so good with doll hair! I don’t even know whose style I preferred. Grace made a good call on turning those earrings into necklaces-they were perfect. The gowns were gorgeous too, worth every cent. Fun idea taking them with you.

      Oh, yeah. I love doing their hair. I've done a few tutorials (one focusing on Melody's hair exclusively and one on Valentine's Day styles) but nothing recent. And about the jewelry - it was definitely the smart move. Easier and cheaper than trying to find necklaces that would've been the right size, and now she has her own appropriately sized necklace (should she need it). We don't tend to take our dolls to a ton of places, but if we know there is a great photo opportunity, it's fun to take them along. Not a single rude stare or comment, either :)

    You know I'm here for this video!!!
    First off the dresses and hairstyles... *chef's kiss*
    I got choked up when we were allowed to touch the ship piece... and then in the 90's they brought up the ship's whistles and I watched a whole documentary on them restoring them and then actually making them work... like Titanic speaking to us through time through those whistles and they were there!!! To know what they sounded like and seeing them there got me.
    Wonder how many more dolls they've seen dressed as Rose besides us? Theres another AGer that went, so at least four! Ha

    • @agtakesover
      @agtakesover  2 місяці тому

      Yeah, I hadn't known in advance that we'd be allowed to touch a part of the ship. It's really incredible. I'm fascinated by how ambition and greed can blind people to red flags sometimes, and it's really interesting how people react in crises. But reading and learning and thinking about something is one (valuable) thing, and *touching* the actual ship that held so much hope and ambition and tragedy and loss in such a short span of time...it was really something else.

    Beautiful dresses, hair, and jewelry on the dolls! I may be one of the few people on earth who has never seen the movie lol but I found this video very interesting and I love how you and your wife incorporate your dolls into things you do. Thank you for the inspiration!

    Stunning dresses, clever heart necklaces, and fascinating vicarious trip to the museum. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. You need to make a Titanic scene down in your basement. You could make the front part of the boat and do the arms-out scene with two of the dolls.

    • @agtakesover
      @agtakesover  2 місяці тому +1

      I could totally do that. The problem is...what the heck would I do with that boat front afterward. I feel like I take on a decent number of large doll projects and then wonder, "hmmm...now what to do with this?" lmao. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though. I wasn't sure if ppl would be interested in the history and non-doll stuff but figured, "If they're not, they probably won't click on it in the first place."

    • @sillymonkey5533
      @sillymonkey5533 2 місяці тому

      @@agtakesover Yeah, there's not much you can do with a boat front after the Titanic photos, unless the dolls want to go on an occasional fishing trip. I ended up getting rid of my Our Generation row boat because it wasn't good for much, and it took up a lot of space.

    I saw an older exhibit in the titanic when it came to Baltimore. It was the one that had the “piece of ice” that you could touch to see how cold it was. I’ve also been to the Molly Brien house in Colorado.
    Love, live, live the dresses!! The Heart of the Ocean necklaces were a genius move. Your hair styles are amazing!! I struggle with doll hairstyles so much.

      I wonder if the event still intrigues people in England as much as it seems to here in the U.S. Are there exhibits like this there? (Today being Cinco de Mayo and knowing about its history and how much less significance the day holds for most ppl in Mexico has me thinking about the Titanic and wondering if the same is true).
      And thank you for the compliments (about the necklaces and their hairstyles, which we'll gladly take credit for lol, and about the dresses, which we only wish we could take credit for ;-)

    Thank you for sharing! I think I'm probably one of the few millennials that never went through a Titanic obsessive era; it was a very big thing when I was in fifth grade, and I think that's maybe around when the movie came out? But I've never seen the movie. I was in Titanic the Musical a few years back; I played one of the "three Kates" - three third class Irish women who represent the third class passengers in the musical. And yet despite that, I still feel weirdly detached from the whole thing, beyond just feelings of immense sadness about the whole thing. I don't plan on going to see the COSI exhibit, though a number of my castmates have gone. Really love the dresses for Saige and Sabine; they look gorgeous, and their hair was fantastic! Love the care that you both put into their looks for attending the exhibit.

    • @agtakesover
      @agtakesover  2 місяці тому

      I don't think I ever experienced an obsession, but it does spark a bit of grim fascination. I think I'm often intrigued by the way that greed and ambition cause people to overlook risks and red flags.

    The true story of the Titanic is very interesting! The "class system" was so important back then. I always felt so sorry for the third class IT was like they were always considered throw away people! I have been to "Molly Browns" house in Denver too! She was a very interesting person! I love your doll pictures! Love this video!!! Thank you!

    • @agtakesover
      @agtakesover  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, it's absolutely trash the way those third class ticket holders were viewed. To be honest, though, I think it kind of surprised me that one ship would want to have such distinct classes on board. Was that common and do you know the reason behind it?

    • @bellaboo8952
      @bellaboo8952 2 місяці тому +1

      @@agtakesover Well England was ( and I think still is) very class conscious! But in my opinion the company that owned the Titanic figured they could make easy money cramming third class people into those bunks. They didn't get fancy food or a nice dining room. They kept them below deck so they wouldn't offend the upper class customer.. I think it all comes down to making a profit...

    • @agtakesover

      Yeah...I feel like now luxury ships would pride themselves more on being exclusive and not having the "riff-raff" (HARD eye roll here) onboard the same ship. But yeah...whatever approach could make the most money, I guess.

    I really want to see this exhibit before it leaves. I’ve seen the exhibit that’s at the Luxor in Las Vegas back in 2012. I’ve been morbidly fascinated by the titanic tragedy since I was young. I saw A Night to Remember when I was a kid at home with my family and I was obsessed when the Titanic movie was released. I saw it in theater 6 times and I went one more time last year when it was rereleased for its 25th anniversary. I’ve also watched some documentaries on tv.
