8:06 I like how it initially seems as if she's defending her boyfriend against racial profiling, but once we have the full context, it turns out she was actually trying to prevent a paper trail for when he gets abducted.
Holy shit!!! That never even occurred to me…. But now it is so blatantly obvious…
I said this same thing on another reaction channel and got BLASTED for it. People called me a “r@cist sympathizer” and ignorant. I haven’t gone back to it but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were 200 additional comments under mine 😂 but yes! This is one of those movies where once you go back and know what happens, you pick up on a TON of little nuggets. Even the intro song “Redbone” is an Easter egg, when you know what that term means historically. Good stuff 🤙🏻
A lot of people miss that. Her part in the whole scenario was so very well written and portrayed.
@@tykroner1133 The nonsensical nature of such a reaction is only equaled by your refusal to just type the word "racist." Did the entire world's balls drop off or something?
Damn, never thought about that, but yes it makes perfect sense.
37:30. If you remember: When the father was explaining that the grandfather ran in the Olympics and lost to Jessie Owen, they established that he was a track runner. And now that he has the body to run, he was just running whenever he could. He couldn't do it during the day when everyone was there so he did it at night when no one was around. Because he loved to run.
But that doesn't explain why he ran almost directly AT the guy. I think the explanation for that was that the grandfather was getting influenced by the black host body, who was trying to somehow communicate with the guy (forgot his name). Either that or the grandfather wanted to prevent him from smoking a cigarette. 🤷🏻♂️
@@deepermind4884 i just thought he was standing at a bend in the path the grandpa follows when he runs
@@deepermind4884 There was a cut line of dialogue from the ending where Walter tackles Chris and yells "I finally got you Jesse!" To me, that's a sign that he ran right at Chris because he represents Jesse in his mind.
actually he was running because he was desperate to beat jessie’s time and not solely because he loved to run!
It's more insidious than that. The grandfather is racist like the rest, and Jesse Owens mashed the grandfather's inferiority in his face. The grandfather now lives in a black man's body, running and trying to experience the same physicality as the man who beat him.
Hey Natalie! Watching this as a Black woman, the most incredible moment of symbolism for me is that when Chris is trapped in the chair late in the film being controlled by the teacup noise, what ultimately saves him is his ability to pick cotton. He picks it out of the arms of the chair and uses it for earplugs, and the primary activity of slaves is what KEEPS him from having his body enslaved. So, so brilliant.
This is a great insight. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective. As a brown person myself, what stood out to me while watching this movie is how it subverts the white stereo typical idea that the black man is a threat and not to be trusted. In reality, black people are the ones who have justifiably lived in fear - of being racially vilified and treated like second-class citizens in their own country. "Get Out" explores these complex themes in a bold and original way by using the horror genre to reflect back to us the real horrors in our own history and society.
"She's a psychoparh! To be fair I have done this... She's f-in crazy!"
🤣🤣🤣
Stay gold Natalie.
Grandma wasn’t actually a servant of the house that was just the role she played while Chris was there to explain her presence in the house
I think it's also how you would expect a stereotypical 50's housewife to act. Of course she's in the kitchen, serving drinks, cooking and cleaning for everyone, how yuck for everyone lol
@@V_4_Versace Do typical stereotypes housewife still have do serve the whole family when DIL is also there? Honest question because I'm not English/American.
@@scorpiongurlz89
What’s a DIL?
@@VonPatzy daughter in law
The ‘woman’ in her was quite strong! Fighting!
when Rose uses the deer rifle to "hunt" down Chris symbolizes how she has always been this hunter of sorts for the family to hold as almost trophy types to show off just like the deer head on the wall. Also, when Chris uses the deer head its literally and methaphorically showing how the "deer" can fight back.
Also the father at the very intro responds to their deer accident saying the deer are out of control and need to be killed.
Historically in the American era of slavery black men were called “bucks” (male deer).
That particular metaphor is one of the most blatant in a pretty metaphor heavy film.
@@VonPatzy And that is why you shouldn't refer to dollars as "bucks" because a slave at some points was worth a dollar.. If the slave was larger and worth the value of 3 slaves for example, they cost 3 bucks.
@@mattgarrett2583 this is getting deeper and darker than I had originally thought
i mean the deer can’t fight back “literally”.
@@mattgarrett2583 Bucks (dollars) are named after animal skins (of bucks, for instance) as a trading currency. It has no relation to slaves in this context
Your sheer aggression when he broke the cup was worth watching this whole reaction!
so proud of him in that moment haha
There was a couple of times where she was balls-to-the-wall all in on extreme violence, and that shit was hilarious.
@@NatalieGoldReacts That whole sequence was immensely cathartic.
so many great "easter eggs" or sly nods to the plot in this when you go back and watch. The "black mold" in the basement, Georgina being the "piece" of the grandma they kept there, the fact Chris has to pick cotton to allow for his freedom, the granddad being a runner in the Olympics, Rose separating the colored cereal from the white milk, the "hope I don't get chased off with a shotgun" line Chris says at the beginning to Rose... just so many cool things.
I saw somewhere that Jordan Peele had never planned on the symbolism of rose keeping the pure white milk away from the colored cereal. Until he saw the theory, or someone pointed it out to him. And he loved it. He had just been thinking this is the creepiest way to eat cereal
@@brandyanderson3522 ha! even better then. unintentional genius is sometimes even better. LOL
Also, pre finding out what was going on, Rose wore incredibly colorful shirts, and even her face seemed to have color in it, but after we find out, completely white clothes and her face has even gone pale seemingly. :(
At a certain point when Chris is trying to fight his way out of the house, Rose's brother grabs him from behind and Chris is unable to stab him effectively with the knife. What Chris did was kinda brilliant. He tries to open the door which forces Rose's brother to push it shut, exposing his leg to be stabbed. It happens so quickly, but I only picked up on it after Nat's first viewing.
And none of it means anything.
I saw this in theaters, and the crowd exploding with applause when Rod shows up in the cop car was insane. Even bigger than when Captain America held Thor's hammer.
The original ending was that it wasn't Rod, and Chris gets arrested. Good thing there was room for one more twist.
@@johnsensebe3153 bc the test audiences were all so dissatisfied with the original ending, they stuck with the new one.
same here - big cheers!
@@yoda9256 it would be a shitty ending. the movie NEEDED some relief
The original ending had the cops being the ones to show up instead of Rod and Chris ended up in prison for murder. They actually filmed that ending and showed it at test screenings, but Jordan Peele decided not to go that route.
That would have been a more realistic but depressing ending. I'm so glad Peele tested it.
wild that Rod was still in the script with that ending, because to me the final film has such a textbook-level perfect slam dunk ending that it feels like you can't have Rod in a script that doesn't end that way.
its on youtube btw
Peele said the reason he chose not to go that route is because people were starting to become more aware of systemic racism as not only was Trump the president at the time, but people were already sharing videos of police brutality online.
20:47 - Smile fading then crying was the first sign that the original conscious was coming back to the front. 21:01 - "ohhh, nooo, noo, no", was the grandmother talking to her, forcing her consciousness back down and retaking control of the body. Great piece of acting by Betty Gabriel..!
We all need a friend like Rod in our lives
Yeah but they're quite draining every other day you're not being harvested for your genes
One of the theories was that the officer at the beginning was actually good and was trying to ID Chris because they potentially knew something was wrong in the area. So Rose “defending him” was just to save herself/family from being caught.
An officer (may depend on the state) can request to see your id, you have the option to decline. Especially if they don't have probable cause. This is more about practicing your rights, because if you don't, then you will lose them. That being said, I like your theory better.
OHHHHHHH
I think it's because of the missing guy Andre Hayworth. Probably checking to see if it was him.
Oohh, I hadn't heard that theory!
@@aundreyyakar1272 there’s nothing to suggest Andre was reported missing, however, Rose’s family preyed on many people (based off the hidden photographs) so local law enforcement could’ve been aware of something strange going on in the area. Like I said though, it’s originally a theory so nothing is confirmed by JP.
The scene where Rose sits eating Froot Loops and drinking milk while listening to music and surfing the internet for her next victim is strangely terrifying.
She was keeping the white milk and the colored cereal segregated.
@@craftyluna6381 This is also how I interpret that, that she can't bear to contaminate the white milk with anything that has colour.
IMO, I think it should've been Cocoa Puffs. 🍫
@CraftyLuna Jordan Peele said that wasn't intentional, he thought it would just be extra weirdness to have her eat cereal like that. But yeah it definitely works metaphorically
Whether intentional or not, there is also the symbolism connecting to the modern alt-right/white nationalist movement, who would chug milk in videos as a display of white pride, and the Proud Boys requiring the naming of several breakfast cereals as they get jumped in as an initiation.
Since I’m black and my name is Chris (and I was listening to this with headphones) I felt both startled & hyped up by Natalie’s yelling lol.
LMAO 😂
Haha
I LOVE the escalation of Nat during this. She’s basically possessed by the end of this lmao
This reminds me of the old meme with that Mexican futbol manager turning super saiyan after a special goal. How turnt he got - that was Nat today.
This movie is so smartly planned. Things that seem to happen for one reason have a completely different reason after the twist. It’s so damn good.
Jordan Peele is a Genius
@@WiseGuy770 - The one constant about Peele, unlike the tropes others fall into, is you're never going to see the movie you thought you were going to see.
@@WiseGuy770 I can't stop thinking about Nope. Movie is god-damned brilliant.
@@CrowTRobot how is it brilliant?
@@CrowTRobot I watched Nope and didn't 'feel it' like with this movie. For me, Jordan is really gifted at telling stories from the perspective of people who feel like they're on the fringe of society and how they perceive their struggles. But for me I find I only enjoy them if I can identify with some part of the movie and that didn't happen for me in Nope. Doesn't mean it wasn't a good movie but just that it didn't resonate like this one did.
The grandfather running was a nod to the father saying in the beginning that he ‘almost got over it’.
When the father is giving a tour of the house, he says of the mother ‘we like to keep a piece of her’ in reference to the kitchen, right where the grandmother was standing.
Also funny that Chris managed to save himself from the effects of the teacup by picking cotton…🙃
Idk how she didn't get this. She slow.
@@_VISION.stfu nobody is dissecting the movie as their watching it it’s after the fact ppl realize all the Easter eggs
Easily one of my favorite reactions of yours. The primal almost gutteral screams and shouts of approval as he gets his revenge were just delightful, and so relatable.
Lots of intricate details in this one. Like when the cop asks for his licence and the girlfriend makes a scene, it's not because she thinks the cop's being racist, it's to hide his identity (in case someone files a missing person report)
Nominated for 4 Oscars including Best Picture but won for Best Original Screenplay!
@@guillhermecamargo7576 wtf? 🤣 it’s nothing like Skeleton Key, why because it has switching bodies & African American characters? The stories couldn’t be more different, the many facets of modern racism didn’t even play a part in that film at all, white people weren’t even the antagonists
@@guillhermecamargo7576 I wouldn’t call Skeleton Key a great movie it wasn’t really about anything lol just a gothic setting and jump scares. We disagree because your claims are flat out false

Daniel Kaluuya is such a convincing actor. His rage and sorrow in Black Mirror made me cry.
You should also watch “Ready or Not” it’s not quite horror, but definitely has some horror elements, it’s also funny and thrilling and a wild ride like this movie
Samara Weaving is so AMAZING! Her acting was on point.
The Hunt is good as well

One of the greatest. Also, scary, but not SCARY scary, it's an amazing introduction to horror and has a great commentary on racism and social mores. Such a great film!
Agree. This one is more suspense than horror but it's still brilliant. Nope fucked me up though, that movie is disturbing.
this is the kind of movie that deserves a rewatch to spot all the hints, like when the father shows the place around to Chris, and when arriving in the kitchen he says that his mother loved her kitchen so they kept a piece of here in it WHILE GEORGINA IS STANDING IS THE DAMN KITCHEN OMG
I like actor Stephen Root, he plays the blind art gallery owner in this film and he also played a blind character in O' Brother Where Art Thou, he was the man who ran the radio station.
Natalie is me when I watch ANY horror film. Glad to know I’m not alone.
Natalie is me when Chris starts his rampage on the family.
You watch it after you have already watched it and thats why you know everything? Is that what you mean? Thid gal is a fraud. And her laughs are forced and fake. And she always looks to her right when she laughs. Checking to see herself in a mirror to validate how real it looks.
I was so excited to see this notification!!! AHH!!
Post-watch: Definitely recommend watching this a second or third time. There are SO many hints and hidden things leading to the ending that make the film that much more enjoyable.
Also, side note, apparently Jordan had a more "realistic" ending planned, which went along the lines of what you thought was going to happen (with the red and blue); I'm very happy he gave this official ending instead. It's like, a breath of fresh air. Much appreciated.
The cop car lights flashing at the end was seriously the scariest part of the movie. You get such a massive feeling of dread. Which says so much.
I just love how aggressively you were cheering for Chris! It's a testament to how great the movie builds up the tension and payooff
and I LOVE reliving these moments that I also had, watching for the first time~
Hooray for Natalie Gold videos!
Jordan Peele has quickly become one of my favorite modern directors. Get Out is probably his best but I loved 'Us' and 'Nope' is my personal favorite of his. I hope you get to check those out in the future if you don't get to watch them this year.
An incredible career arc for Jordan Peele. Starting out as a comedian and then becoming an Oscar-winning writer/director of Horror films (he won Original Screenplay Oscar for this). I also love his recently released film NOPE (2022).
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Key and Peele sketches (which he did in collaboration with Keegan Michael-Key). Their valet sketches (especially GAME OF THRONES S1-4, Batman, and Iron Man) remain my personal favorite.
nat’s “You, YES YOU!” is the closest ive ever been to a parasocial relationship.
It gives me tingles in the same way ASMR does. i have no clue way.

@@ravissary79 its a parasitic relationship between viewer and creator. the viewer views them as a close friend while to the creator, theyre nothing but one of thousands.
@@assssdaw3443 You realize he's joking, right?
When I first heard Peele was doing a movie called "Get Out" I really thought it was going to be more tongue and cheek; then I saw and it scared the shit out of me. It just validated all that old conspiracies from uncles chatting at family picnics.
In the slave days I believe they referred to black men as "Bucks" so that stag head on the wall might also have that symbolism. Him being a trophy buck, didn't think about it until you pointed out how prominent it was in the scene.
Allison Williams was terrifying. Also just realized she is drinking the milk without the fruit loops so the colors don't mix. As a product of miscegenation this makes me laugh but also hurts. Fucking ouch.
If you're black it is kinda horrific the whole time :D
Great commentary throughout, you made me see some shit miseed.
I love the fact that pretty much everyone agrees that the way Rose eats cereal is the creepiest thing in the entire movie.

You've got this!
First time I saw this movie, it literally had me on the edge of my seat from the very first scene all the way to the end. Can't remember the last time a movie gripped me that tightly. Terrifying.
All of your reaction videos are wonderful but this may be my favorite. Your energy, insight, shock, amusement, and clever comments are all on-point. You are fabulously entertaining on this one. I've re-watched this several times already. You've made this now-classic film even more fun and interesting. Thanks.
This is one you have to watch again to get all the references Jordan Peele put through the whole movie! 💚🖤
Your reaction to the ending was great and also exactly what they hoped for. Jordan Peele has talked about how his originally written ending was what you and most of the audience feared as we watched, that the police pull up and arrest Chris for killing a bunch of white folks, and they were going to have Rod visit Chris in prison and have a similar but with a totally-opposite-tone "I told you so" talk. But Peele and the producers eventually thought that was too depressing and that it'd work better with a happy ending, so they pulled the TSA/cop car twist precisely to elicit the type of reaction you had. It's so great.
Yes, the train to NOPE begins. That was the funniest reaction to the running scene I have ever seen lol.
I highly recommend that you submit to your patrons "Train to Busan". This South Korean zombie film is considered one fo the best films in its genre. I has multiple characters that you feel empathy for, character arcs, and is very different from the typical US gory , mindless zombie film. It also has a great child actress, Even skeptical zombie film connoisseurs who view this film love it.
Jordan Peele actually filmed an alternate ending you can find and watch where it was actually a cop that shows up and the movie ends with Chris in prison lol
Also lol at Nat, "She's eating the fruit loops like a psychopath! To be fair, I've done this.." 🤣🤣😂😂
The actress playing Rose was terrifying in this. That soulless, empty expression on her face. She did a very good job.
If you want your heart crushed than watch the alternate ending. It's, unfortunately, more realistic to today's world and depressing af, but super impactful
I'm so glad they changed it. This movie really needs to be viewed multiple times to catch everything but if the alternate ending was the real one it would really not be a movie I'd want to re-watch
The scream you gave at the end.....happened in my theater from EVERYONE....it was amazing lol
“They’re playing bad mitten over there, that’s a nice little white touch”😂 I lol’d

LET'S GOOOOO NAT, omg this movie is literally a masterpiece and it never gets old! i think i've watched every single reaction of get out possible on youtube lol so happy you finally watched it!
There are so many little details that stand out on repeat watch once you know what's up. Such as:
1. The girlfriend didn't want the officer to run Chris's ID because it would be a paper trail of Chris going to their home.
2. The grandfather was running because he (as a white man) was beat by Jessie Owens. He runs because he never fully got over it, like the dad said.
3. Georgina saying, "I don't answer to anyone." She is the grandma, she's the matron of the house. Also ties back to the scene where the dad is giving a tour of the house and says "We still keep a bit of her [his mother] in the kitchen" and it immediately reveals Georgina in the kitchen.
4. Chris saves himself from the teacup sounds on the TV by literally picking cotton [from the armchair].
The original ending was supposed to have the actual police show up and end on Chris in prison. When it was shown to test audiences, it didn't sit well because it was "too real". Considering this came out in 2017 when racial violence was on the rise, Peele changed it so Chris wins.
I have only seen this film four times but I am still discovering new things. At around 1:34:13, as Georgina wakes up and looks at Chris, her wig comes off and exposes her surgery scar line. We can see this with Walter at around 1:35:30 when his cap comes off after tackling Chris. I will assume it's the same with Andre's (aka Logan) boater hat at around 45:00. This shows the level of brilliance in detail and consistency this film has.
This reaction was so good! This film is very well made!

Rose is eating the "colored" cereal separately from the white milk. Gotta love that touch. Also her stone-faced phone conversation with Rod, and her smile as Chris is choking her to death. Girl was the perfect psychopath. Truly the craziest member of her family. The work Allison Williams does in the second half of the movie is legendary.
the director said that there was no deeper meaning with that. it was just something weird with her character he wanted to put it.

I watched this film in a cinema without knowing anything about it. Not even that it was a thriller. What a surprise that was! A fresh, different film, clever, captivating. I love it when that happens 😊
I think the reason why Rose made such a big deal about not wanting Chris to give the cop his ID was that she didn’t want a paper trail tying them together for when he inevitably went missing. It’s such a subtle thing, but really smart once you realize how insidious all her decisions really are.
Also cause the cop had no right to request it.
