How good was Maradona actually? #GOAT
New episode of a documentary series where I plan to present all the greatest players of all time and then give them a score so a ranking of the best players can be created. In this episode we take on Diego Maradona who played for Napoli and Barcelona for most of his career, not only one of the greatest number 10s of all time but one of the greatest players of all time. See how Maradona ranks and just how good was he. - Спорт
This might be the greatest video I have ever watched, my uncle is from Naples and I remember when I asked him why the Neapolitans loved him so much, what Maradona meant for him, he replied telling me about a free kick by Maradona from inside the area against Juventus, he said "I was at the stadium, the barrier was too close, there was no space ... it was impossible "he told me that Maradona was summed up in that freekick, that he was not an idol but something more, that he was capable of giving dignity to a people through football “Maradona was the hope, faith and embodiment of every Neapolitan " “In effect the closest thing to God I've ever seen "
Well summed up.. 👌
el diego is greek god in napoli he is everything there
Santo maradona. Messi is unbelievable, but el Diego is a league apart
To answer your title "Just how GOOD was Diego Maradona Actually?". He was simply the best, the most purely talented footballer I've ever seen. Some may have been close (Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi etc), but overall Maradona was a different level of genius. As an Englishman, I hated him for a couple of weeks in 1986, but that was just one moment in a career of superb achievement. RIP Diego and thank you for sharing your talent with the world and giving us so many moments of awe to remember. God bless.
Very true! John
" He was simply the best,"
Well said.
@@bigstroker1300 Pelé was not the best. Everybody knows that.
@@bigstroker1300 Pelé was advertised by FIFA to promote the game. Go watch his full matches on UA-cam. There's enough games to judge him by. Its ridiculous to compare him to the greats of football. Never mind the great Maradona.
Go watch it for yourself before you start the normal stupid debates. Or link me one full match on UA-cam to prove me wrong.
Highlights of a specific player can make any player look like a genius.
I don't think I've ever seen a player with a better first touch, he was one of my childhood heroes.
This was a very profound and moving tribute to a individual whose ability with a football was supernatural.
better anything... he was just not of this world divine...
The perfect example of a man representing a nation. He wore his heart in his sleeve. Watching him play was like going back to the school days. So witty, talented and unnasuming guy. An anti hero. His fan base came from his humanity, his imperfections. God given talent and hard working man determination.
This man woke up every day and took on player after player as if he was eating and drinking. And he started it in his early childhood and proved to everyone who saw him that he was unstoppable. I have seen many promising starts who stuttered as they go along their careers facing wild beasts of defenders. Doing it once would be worthy of talk. Yet doing it again and again is insane. He was surely born with a very very rare x factor.
Diego Armando Maradona we don't know for many hundred years to come a man like you will be born into this world. I had spend most of my time watching stories about of you recently and one thing I can concluded "You are God`s person and had a good heart to everyone you met. RIP Maradona you are such a saint for World of Football"
the best athlete in history
I was 10yrs old when I first saw Maradona. 1980, Wembley, against England, BBC highlights.
During the first half, he went on a dribble going past 4 or 5 England players.
It made me get off my chair in awe at what I saw.
No other player has ever made me stand up to their skill.

Bullshit! He needed "God" to handball the ball into the net!
@@sprinter1832 I dont like Argentina football team but Maradona was the best of all time.
I'd also like to add that Maradonna being a coke addict adds to him being the best, coke isn't a drug I'd like to play football on! Especially in big pressure situations and against the best players, the fact he was able to preform while addicted to coke is mind blowing, the other players should of supported that because a healthy clean Maradonna would of being on another level again!

I haven't seen Maradona play. But as someone who was privileged enough to watch Messi throughout his career, I can't comprehend how someone could be better than him. Can you say how Messi, in your eyes, compares to Maradona?
The man was from another planet, he could do things with a football you couldn't even dream of doing.
with a football, with an orange, with a golf ball, with a table tennis ball...
@TheGiorgi7
You are laughable and clueless. The players you mentioned doesn't even approach his league
@TheGiorgi7 your claims are so stupid and the fact that you think that even zidane comes close is ridiculous and an absolute discrace. may I ask you a question, did your beloved zidane bring a team battling to even stay in the top league of football to champions of
Europe.
No.
Things zidane could do with a ball maradona could do with an orange and the fact that you even compare the two is laughable and makes me want to spit in your face
@TheGiorgi7 how can you say players in Italy were half amateur even though it was the best league at the time yet in other comments you are saying pele Is great even though he played in the Brazilian league
Once again I am not discrediting pele but I would just like an answer
Watch the video where Diego says Jorge " el magico Gonzalez" was better than him.
One of my earliest memories was the 1986 world Cup when he dribbled past 5 English players and scored. Maradona was by far the best ever pure footballer. The incredible ability he had you can never really find today.
Difference between him and Messi is that Maradona was the chosen one that God put his hand on.
Maradona took a low par napoli team and made them win the Italian league and Cup.
You would never see the likes of Messi or cr7 go to a below par team and make them brilliant. To put players in the same league as maradona one would have to do what he did. This will never be done again. Closest player to maradona with relation to skill was Ronaldinho.
Rip el Diego. God is now showing you all th hearts you touch. Rip real number 10
By far the most truthful comment here! 👍
"if you don't play for a small team you are worse" 🤦🏼♂️🤡🤡🤡

Dude... I can feel the pain through your words... I live near Napoli, here Diego was just a God... And even if I'm a Juventus fan, the worst Napoli's enemy, when I read about his dead I felt like if I was dead... He wasn't a football player... He was just THE football... We all miss you Diego... @TheGiorgi7 even with Var today there are mis calls and many fauls goes unpunished , u can't really call his hand bag cheating else most of players these days dive r all cheaters . What Maradona did no one can do , just look at recent worldcup winners all had extraordinary team. , Maradona did it with a decent team . Even Pele had Garricha who is kind of underrated. It means a lot to hear that, thanks! Everything on this channel is 100% solo work, so it's been quite the grind
Maradona was the ultimate one man team
Best ever player, no one came even close. Imagine him playing on today’s pitches and with the protection current players have from referees, pure genius.
VAR may have rules out 2 of his most important goals
Roberto Baggio...Romario could argue
@@goitsisegone713 Yes he was a fabulous player, also Del Piero
Diego is one of the best, but there would be no place for him in today's football because football from his time and today's football cannot be compared, Diego would play two or three seasons in today's football because as he was, his nature, there is no chances of enduring in today's football ... that's why Messi and Ronaldo are the best of all time, because if he brought them back to Diego's time, they would score five or six goals in every game, and Diego, if he played in today's football, no he would have endured a game with overtime, not only Diego, but everyone else from that time ... so in my opinion, neither Pele, nor Maradona nor Messi, Ronaldo can be compared ... they were all the best in their time and that's so!
@@nemanjakojicic1990 That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard, you’re obviously following the wrong sport, you’re delusional. Footballers in the last 15 years have had it so easy compared to Diego’s time. Claudio Gentile fouled Diego 23 times in one game before he got booked. Imagine that happening with Ronaldo and Messi, they wouldn’t be able to cope. There was a lot more World class players back then., the standard has dropped alarmingly. Maradona, Cruyff, Zico were streets ahead of Ronaldo. Ronaldo isn’t even the best Ronaldo with the phenomenon much better than the Portuguese. Don’t think any of those players had to play against Angola. Pitches were terrible and defenders were sometimes animals, very little protection for players.

I think it was Gary Lineker that said he had never seen anything like it. Maradona doing kick ups in the centre circle, but not your conventional kick ups! He was kicking the ball as high as he could, and then on the volley doing the same again.... multipul times. He was watching Maradona warm up for a match, and he was in awe of Diego's relationship with the ball. He described it as Maradona and the ball were one. He had never seen anyone with greater affection with a football! This coming from a professional footballer says it all!
ua-cam.com/video/MKIFPaR_ZIo/v-deo.html
Yes, he was. Lineker even said that other players tried and after 2 or 3 kicks the ball will go out of reach. However, in Maradona's case, it was always within 2 yards.
@@condasheridanlab7301 The ball chose him and obeyed his every command
@@johnrockyryan 😅🤣😂 and I suppose he never handled the ball against England,🤡🤡🤡🤡 He was a cheat💩💩💩
Lineker is a prick who just uses every single opportunity to put himself in the centre of attention not because he admired what Maradona did in the training. Maradona doesn’t need the approval of an overrated player like Lineker anyway.

People nowadays talk about Messi or Ronaldo being the GOAT. All I can say to that is, you can't have seen him play. I was there, in the San Paulo in Napoli for the semi-final against Italy & the guy was still mesmerising, even though many would say he was past his best. As an Englishman, I watched both sides of him as he broke our hearts in Mexico, scoring what has to be the greatest goal of all time in a World Cup & like the guy said, everyone still applauded, because we all knew we'd been beaten by something special.
