Yeah, South Africa is one of the best countries in the world. We may have political and social issues but it's ours and we're proud of them. Great challenge by the way, it feels so good hearing a South African voice on UA-cam
Simba chips are low quality junk. You eat them often they will scratch the roof of your mouth. Stopped eating them completely. I guess there is something better in the USA since food is cheap.
Currently living in America and from Pretoria and miss everything you mentioned and here you only get butter popcorn (not great at all) and miss SA a lot! I am proud to be South African!
I miss Smoked Beef chips. I miss biltong and have started making my own. I miss Iron Brew... I even miss the word bru lol. I miss Afrikaans people's blatant racism. I miss Castle Lite, I miss driving on the proper side of the road, I miss Lemon n Herb, I miss Hake, I miss cheap Chinese food, I would kill for a December holiday in summer, I miss Black people, I miss getting my hair cut by someone who knows what they are doing, I miss reasonable Swazi, I miss DSTV, I miss Sunday Times, I miss Chisa Nyama, I miss the Townships, I miss calling mixed race people Coloured, I miss iKota, I miss Indians. I miss knowing there is wild life everywhere around me even though I don't visit the Zoo, I miss cheap airtime, I miss rugby. I would binge on 7 de Laan right now even though I've never watched an episode. I miss Jozi, I miss Cape Town and Durban, I miss my car. I even miss my exes, I miss speaking my own language, I miss wearing All Stars till they fall of my feet, I miss South Africans complaining about relocating, I miss Vicks and Bostol. I miss drinking water straight from the tap but mostly I miss the people.
I only spent a couple months traveling throughout SA and have only been back home in the US for about 2 months but watching this video made me realize how much I miss SA!! Your slang video really hit hard because it reminded me of all the amazing friends I made over there. Also miss Mugg & Bean surprisingly :)
I completely agree about the Rooibos tea!! I wish Spur and Steers could come to Australia! Even after living in Aus for 10 years I still get cravings for some of the stuff!! But what I normally get when I go back home is also speckled eggs and Iron Brew! #GOODTOSEEPOSITIVEVIDEOSABOUTHOME
Stefan Hollstein 10 years and the cravings haven't stopped? Oh my goodness 🙈 we need to start introducing the world to SA products and restaurants and start making them international 😉😊
When I lived in South Africa I'd always wanted to move overseas permanently, then I got a permanent job overseas and I've changed my mind completely now. Despite ANC, Zuma, Guptas, crime and potholes, SA you beauty. I'm never moving anywhere permanently, SA will always be home for me. 3 things I miss about SA: - Woolworths Food - Vrigin Active - DsTV I kid you not, you will not have any similar experience anywhere.

Wines, what an amazing wines and wine farms! Extraordinary landscapes and hikes! Great food and wild braais with friends! The sun light is extraordinary beautiful... what about people? everyone has been really friendly with me. I have made a lot of friends... coming from Spain right after winning the World Cup was easier... I was a champion hehehehe.... In summary, South Africa has given me all I need to become a better man and these 3 lovely years living there has changed my way of living my life ... LOVE YOU SA!!!! T.I.A!!!!!
Hello Melissa! I can honestly say I watch your videos to remind me of how beautiful your accents are in South Africa. My vision of a wife is a South African woman. I also enjoy how much you laugh and smile in your videos! We need more of that in the world.
I literally just sent my mother a list of stuff to send to me here in California. Basically everything haha i miss lekker snacks. OMG its so difficult to find salt and vinegar chips here. Ahh woolies i miss the nougat and tennis biscuits and rooibos tea. Ok im going to stop.. but i loved the video.

I miss Woolworths. I miss Iron Brew, biltong, braaing, boerewors, Old Gold tomato sauce. Czech Republic has none of this. So heart broken. Can't wait to go home and eat. ❤️🇿🇦
Lived in Uganda for 21 years and missed bovril, nice brown bread, good biltong, (to mention a few) for years. Also missed DisChem. Now I am like a child in a chocolate factory..every shop is amazing and the variety of the same food is almost overwhelming. Just great to be home - might not be for good but i will enjoy it while i can. I missed the way people talk - can listen for hours. Good luck with your adventures.
My husband was born in England, but raised in Johannesburg South Africa from age seven until he moved here to Canada in his early 40’s. He said one thing he misses is the jacaranda trees, with their purple blossoms, in September/October......which he told me is spring time there. We don’t have those trees here in Canada. Another thing he misses is celebrating Christmas in the summer. lol In other words, having Christmas in warm sunny weather. He REFUSES to acclimatize to our snowy cold winters here!! He complains bitterly all winter......even though we have plenty of warm clothing.....leaving us no excuse to complain about being cold! lol At this very moment, 9:20 am on Monday Nov. 11th (our Remembrance Day).....the air is SOLID WHITE with our first big snowfall!! YAAAAAY😁 👍🏻 🇨🇦 ❤️
Hi Melissa, I´m a South African, and I´m in Portugal for 19 years now, I came a child. What I miss the most is the biltong, fanta grape, the braais(in a South African way), the weather, but what I miss the most is the people, the way people behave, so nice and lovely. Nice vlog Melissa, do more. Peace and love to you all.
Ahhh how much i can relate to this video!! Im a South African living in the Netherlands and i miss bilton, jelly babies and cream soda so muchh. Awesome video ❤
I moved to Australia 6 months ago, I also miss Woolworths!! You never know how good it is until you leave!!! And the small packed food and the best!! You could always stop there before going to sport and get some delicious healthyish snacks!!
The best way to be happy is to stop chasing happiness. Happy is very self focused. Joy is the overflow of a greatful heart. Practice gratitude about everything. If you don't have big things to be grateful for because your spouse or your parent or your child died (mine did) be grateful for small things like chocolate. Give yourself permission to be happy when you suffer a great loss. Remember to always do the next right thing. No matter how bad you have messed up you can crawl out one right act at a time.
Hi there! Love your videos. I am living in Australia and I really miss the zoo biscuits. We used to be able to get them in Woolworths but then they stopped selling them! Also really miss the biltong.
Biltong | Boerewors |The fantastic schools and university campuses | The lovely and polite people | Organised and planned cities | People's involvement in nature surrounded activities | The fantastic food | The accent | The multicultural environment | The incredible variety of landscapes | The fantastic Bread n Breakfasts | The intensity of sports in the people's lifes | Friendly driving | Wide streets | etc etc
Haha, my dad and his wife went to South Africa a couple times and picked up a taste for Rooibos tea. You can get it here in Toronto too. Always more of an Irish breakfast or chamomile kind of guy.
I miss the camping and listening to the afrikaans music and the farms along with the traditional south african braai on a saturday whilst the rugby is on and i miss my best friend to😭😭💔❤
How is it that I am a South African, but I don't know what Super M's are??? I know how you feel +MelissaInLisbon . I am from Pretoria, but I live in Canada now. I miss the land and the wildlife so much. I wouldn't mind seeing potholes either. We actually have an SA shop near us, so we can buy Aromat, Fizzers, Chappies, biltong, etc. Make sure you enjoy and appreciate Oros, and the marshmallows with coconut on them. I miss those! And rusks... boy, I would love a rusk now. Anyway, thanks for the video! Take care.
You've gained a fellow South African sub here 👍👍 But girl you're blessed you get to see the world some of us can only dream to get out of here 😑😑 and I agree with the Super M but these you can get anything online from anywhere.. 😊
I'm a South African, but born and raised in Belgium. I only go back to SA during the holidays in July and August. I really enjoy running into other South Africans abroad, because the beautiful SA accent reminds me of all my family back in SA. And yo, it's so hard to get droewors and biltong over here. But most of all: ek mis dit om lekker rugby te kyk by die braai.
Red grapetiser! Yes! I'm in the UK and they have Appletiser, but no grape! Whyyyyyyy? And the salt n vinegar popcorn at the movies! I've started buying salt n vinegar salt (at the SA shops) and smuggling it into the movies to put on my popcorn!
YAS i just subscribeddd. I found your videos cuz i wanted to hear Afrikaans and wanted to know if i could understand it (Im dutch :'3). So now i have a new youtuber to binge watch, thanks haha
I love South Africa and I’m from the uk ever since I was a kid I’m 21 now and gonna move there in a few years it’s unexplainable my love for sa a long story😂
Aaww😿😿😿♥♥♥♥I'm with you all the way girl...when you get back you must make a vid of you going to the places and doing the things you miss and we'll be here cheering you on😊😊
I am Australian btw. Australia has nandos, aromat, biltong, salt and vinegar seasoning for popcorn, simba chips, plain rooibos tea, appletizer, cream soda and Woolworths. Gosh we even have a Spur! My boyfriend is South African and I just LOVE the South Africa culture. The food, the respect and friendliness. We braai all the time too and it's baie lekker. He even taught me a little Afrikaans😁 O how I wish I lived in SA...
My family has a hous in SA, but we are full Swiss, but i really miss it, but my parents and i are going to PE in january... i just can’t wait. Also gonna make videos when we are down(also gonna fly my drone)... so exited. But i really miss all friends we have in SA, the natur, the food, the wildlife... Just those things you can’t get in Switzerland... PS: I’m listening to KFM every single day... So i feel like im in SA
I Never Moved but was in the States for half a year and I remember also missing Sparletta Cream Soda big time. I had found a cream soda in the states but it was nothing like ours...was vanilla tasting and had a honey bee on the glass bottle label. MY BRAIN was SO CONFUSED LOL. Also the diversity of different cultures, traditions and people. South Africa has the best of things from the states and europe. So much more variety in sweets, chips (crisps), chocolates, food etc. SA music....aaaah. I LOVE SA!! #ANOTHERAWESOMEVIDEOMEL
WES :) Ah man, so true - we have such a beautiful, diverse population! South African music is amazing...hopefully more of our artists get international recognition! :) Miss you my friend! xx
I’m a bit late to this UA-cam channel. But I relate so so much!! I’m an au pair in France and flip I agree with all you said! Dischem has been my major one lately I miss it, it’s a one stop for all those needs and more. Rooibos and Milo. And wimpy! I visited home in March and had a list for my mom to stock up.
Hi, I am from a South Africa and I'm living in the USA at the moment and I have missed SA so much! The food and the accent and the language! People in America don't understand "lis" and "lekker" and "eina" when you hurt yourself. I am an aupair so I taught my one little host girl to say "eina" when she hurts herself. I miss Woolworths! They have the best sweeties and food.😬😬😬
I live in Canada and what's up with the flavoured rooibos tea. Sigh!!!! I miss South Africa!!! Things that I miss about South Africa bbq spice, aromat, Braai, malva pudding, vanilla custard, Mrs HS Balls chutney, eating beetroot on Sunday, chakalaka, and washing them all down with Stoney ginger beer or appetizer . No place like it🇿🇦❤🇿🇦❤🇿🇦

And the salt n vinegar popcorn at the movies! I've started buying salt n vinegar salt (at the SA shops) and smuggling it into the movies to put on my popcorn!

Woolworths is the best. I'M in love with their designs.
...thanks Mel, from the greatest nation on earth, South Africa. 💙💚💛💜
You can get Simba chips, biltong, boerewors and jelly tots and cream soda in Portimão Algarve. 👍🏻🇿🇦
I miss those warm South African days when your with your family and you have a lekker braai 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
"Miles and miles. Oh sorry, kilometers and kilometers". I died😂😂😂

:) Miss you my friend! xx
I relate to this so much! I moved to the uk and I miss sa so much
Thanks for making my heart burn woman...Bianca from Cape Town living in Istanbul...
Things that I miss about South Africa
bbq spice, aromat,
Braai, malva pudding, vanilla custard, Mrs HS Balls chutney, eating beetroot on Sunday, chakalaka, and washing them all down with Stoney ginger beer or appetizer .
No place like it🇿🇦❤🇿🇦❤🇿🇦
