I just picked this pedal up. I've been looking for a Plexi sound for years. I've tried pedal after pedal and this one finally gives me that real Plexi sound. Pick this one up and you won't regret it.
Such a great presentation of the PlexiRanger! I went and bought one after seeing (and hearing) this excellent demo. It sounds even better irl... I own a (1969) 50w plexi that I sometimes gig with: it is VERY loud and lugging it (and a 4x12) around is no fun... But it is the best sounding amp I have ever owned by far... So I pay the price. For rehearsals (and small gigs) I used a plexi SV20H through a 4x12. The plexi sound is what I'm into. For a change of pace (and more gain, hehe) I bought a Silver Jube mini head that I mainly use at home. It is a fine amp but I missed having that plexi sound. I've tried a LOT of plexi pedals to get it a sound akin to my 1969. To my delight the PlexiRanger does exactly what I was looking for: a really convincing, responsive plexi sound (even at lower volumes). The ranger side is not only great for boosting (I goose all my amps with a pedal or two) but allows me to dial in the mids and highs to be exactly where I want them to be (the jube is a bit more mid scooped than a plexi). The two sides go together like peanutbutter and jelly! The result: a gorgeous plexi tone that is very, very close to the real thing! The Jube gets played out a lot more often now... I can go from sparkly cleans to massive roar now, and best of all: there is a plexi in between those extremes somewhere! A very versatile (yet simple to operate) pedal at a ridiculously low pricepoint. Thanks, Brett!
The 3 button Plexitone has been one of my all-time favorite overdrives for many years now. I like the design principle behind this version even better. And as luck would have it, I’ve been shopping 2 stage overdrives! Terrific demo as always, Burgs. Thanks, brother!
In my opinion this is by far the best demo of this pedal yet. Brett, thanks for the concept for this pedal and thanks to the crew at Carl Martin for bringing it to life. I have 2 boards and one on each.
IMO the secret power of putting a TB in front of a loose-goosy cranked Plexi is that you can now tame to wool out of neck humbuckers. All the throaty tone minus the woof.
What a great video. I’m looking at this or the Wampler plexi deluxe. I’m using humbuckers med high output and a Marshall origin which is a kind of modern low gain plexi ish amp. Which do you think would be better after jcm800 kind of tones? Or anything else you would recommend if not these I’ve mentioned. New subscriber right here from the Uk 🇬🇧. Your advice would be appreciated . Thanks
Carl Martin pedals are great sounding and very well made, expensive I know but you have to pay for the Danish pro-end quality, their individual pedals are excellent not sure about their multi fx units, I’m sure the sound quality and build of them will be great, if it suits you and your setup go for it, I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
This pedal rocks I haven't played a plexi but really don't care as the tones out this guy through my hot rod deluxe give me what I need to rock out it stacks well also
As always, great demonstration of the pedal, Brett. It captures that classic Marshall tone in spades. The addition of the treble boost makes it even more attractive. I know it was just released but I couldn’t find any pricing information on Carls website. Any idea on what it might be?
Trying to decide between this and the Dry Bell Engine. Which would you recommend to serve as a gain channel for a vintage Traynor as a clean platform? Is the treble booster on one of the pedals more nasal & Iommi-like than the other? Mostly going after classic metal tones and really want to get one of them! Not many people have played both so would love to hear how they compare. Thanks
Great demo! Does this or the drybell engine have more gain? I cant find any information on how the two pedals compare. Can you share the strengths of each and how they differ? thank you!
The ac-cord big box plexitone is still the best classic style miab there is. I get new stuff, keep going back to that one. I run it with a hbe germania for solos so this new ranger def needs a look.
They're very different. This one marries a rangemaster-type circuit with a hot-rodded Plexi. The Colombo is a far more subtle affair that has the three main Plexi flavours with much the same gain range as the real thing. There's room for both.
So, basically the Boost is pre-gain, so you will not get a "volume" increase at all, more like a mids-color boost when stacked, but not volume per se, am I correct?
For the early EVH tonality The Wampler Pinnacle...Nails it...And the pedal is endorsed by EVH's road guitar tech as being spot on for the 78,79,80 years...kindly check the various demos...Good Luck
Sounds great but as with most of the Carl Martin plexi pedals theres always too much gain. The clones are the same. Even with the gain at minimum it's way too pushed. I wish CM would give more control. I tried the low gain version but I thought it was lifeless. Wampler got it right.
I think it sounds great too, but I agree about too much gain for Plexi. Lots of the Plexi and 800 style stuff is way too gainy. They end up sounding more like the modded Marshall thing. Probably because that's the 80s hair metal tone much of the US market associates with Marshall. Lots of preamp gain. I suspect that to get it right they would have emulate the power amp overdriving to get the Plexi sound. The classic crunch tone of Marshall before they added a master volume control. I understood it best when i got my JMP50 clone. The preamp hardly distorts at all. Almost all the overdrive is coming from the power section and those EL-34s being pushed beyond their limits. It is a completely different sound from modern hi-gain that has the distortion generated in the preamp section of the amp, while the power amp runs fairly clean, i.e. it's the opposite way of getting overdrive (to solve the issue of getting overdrive at less than insane volume, they made the preamp distort and added a master volume. Then they modders made the preamp distort even more and the hi-gain sound was born).
@@aquilarossa5191 Whine whine....plenty of other shit to buy....they where never made for anything but the hardrock sound...not EC or something like that!
Jeez Burgs ... you must go into a totally confused state when you are trying to decide which effects you are going to use when you gig ... 🤣🤔.. pick mee pick mee

This sounds incredible! The treble boost addition is a perfect complement on the pedal. Great demo! 👍
Sounds phenomenal! Now all we need is a Treble Booster + Big Muff dual. That's a killer combo.

That BARK! This will be mine. Killer review, brother.
Awesome sounds
Great pedal Brett. I know I’m a bit late to post but I got it awhile back and it’s really great. It’s a keeper. Nice demo and playing.
Sounds great. Very good idea to put these in the same box.
Awesome pedal great demo Bret 👍
OMG! As soon as you joined up the 2 channels, my hair stood on end!
OMG...sounds so Good!
Love the tones, Sir!
Hate it how this product release matches my recent Plexi tones gas))
That is amazing . For real sound like a plexi.
Wow! Incredible tones. "Burn" was exact! Perfect tone! I'm going to need to buy this...
Sounds great
Great sounds, very useful set up.
Marshall is going to have to step up it's game.
That boost side on it's own sounds great, and plexi side on its own, of course, also sounds great
Thanks
The folks in heaven know it was your idea, so you got that goin' for you! Great stuff, per usual, Sir.
Awesome... 🤘
I think my Plexi pedal and Treble Booster are about to hit the sales forums.
Ah thanks Brett More GAS :) Should have called it The PlexiBrett.
This sounds unreal
Very good demo, witch tells me that, if I have a good Marshall,I don't need this pedal!
Which witch tell you that ? 😁

Where can this be purchased? I want one now.

The Pinnacle was really designed to work exclusively with a clean amp to highlight the pedals "brown sound" tonality.
