Still pricey but when your miss these products on keto, it is worth indulging every so often. Be sure to freeze the bread/buns when you get home.
I’m happy you liked my comment. Based upon the comments on the Hero web site and personal experience, I now immediately open their tortilla bags upon arrival. I separate the tortillas and place a precut 8” parchment paper circle between each tortilla, then I put the bags into my freezer; it is very easy to remove one or more tortillas from the freezer in the bag. I usually order 8 bags of 8 tortillas at a time so I will never run out of Hero tortillas, and to share with friends and family members. Again, thank you for bringing the Hero products to my family’s attention!! I LOVE your channel.❤❤ Thank you, too, for all of your wonderful ideas and experiments.
I have stored tortillas in the freezer like that for some time. However I cut off a narrow strip of parchment paper then divide that strip into several small 2 or 3 inch squares. I then place one small square in the center of each tortilla to keep them separate it is quick and uses much less parchment paper. It keeps them separate just fine
struggling with weight issues and heart concerns, approaching sixty made me rethink my lifestyle. Aspect Health became a game-changer, their personalized plan tailored to my body's signals made weight management feel achievable. incorporating dietary shifts, physical activity, and stress techniques transformed my life. now, watching this cooking demo, i appreciate low-carb options like hero tortillas. they're versatile, and the hosts' keto-friendly samosas look tempting.
...HOOORAY !!!...After watching your video I checked my cupboards and found out I had EVERYTHING to make Raspberry Creamcheese Turnovers.....they turned out great. I did everything you did but filled each triangle " turnover " with cream cheese and 1 Tbs. of ChocZero Raspberry jam( 1Tbsp is 1 net carb )....I used avocado oil and the Crust turned out crispy and delicious !....I plan on making apple turnovers next. THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR THIS IDEA TO USE HERO TORTILLAS.
This recipe is amazing! We made up using Mission low carb (4 Net carbs) tortillas. Had some leftover hamburger patties. The patties had been seasoned with some egg, pork rind panko, onion powder, garlic powder, and Tony's Creole Seasoning. Threw them in the food processor with 1 C shredded cheddar, 1 C shredded mozzarella, with a handful of Costco pre-cooked bacon pieces. Mixed well. Used whisked egg white with Xanthin gum as the glue. Cooked in olive oil. These were so good, we ate them without any sauce! The filling ideas are endless. Thank you for trying and sharing this recipe! Love your channel!
some East African call them Sambusa. In Kenya they are Samosas. Nigeria has meat pie, with similar insides but the outside is thick like piecrust& usually baked not fried. I cant wait to try these. We love these from our local CairoMarket in Minneapolis. People order them by the pan/50 at a time! I prefer the ground beef ones over the curry potatoe& peas one.( I think the raw onions would sweat and make the bread soggy. Cook first.)
I have just used some left over taco mince and added some bell peppers, diced olives and some tomato feta pesto (cause that is what I had in the fridge to use up). Sprayed with avocado oil and 8 minutes in the airfryer and they are so good. They don't come out as 'fried' as they do in oil but still really good.
Delicious! I was inspired by this video and decided to give it a try. In order to use up some items from the fridge I used some Costco pulled white meat chicken diced up, Kirkland bacon crumbles, shredded mozzarella cheese and a few drizzles of Ranch dressing all mixed up in a bowl. I used the Carb Balance Mission tortillas and the egg white and xanthan gum mixture as a binder for the seems. This was super easy. I ended up making nearly 20 and we ate almost all of them using some keto bbq sauce for dipping. So good! My wife and I were brainstorming future fillings... like... a chicken pot pie filling! Can't wait to try that. Taco filling, cheeseburger filling, pizza filling, the sky's the limit! Thank you for all you do. Aloha!
Another commenter mentioned separating the tortillas before freezing, adding a parchment sheet between them. I've found the parchment unnecessary as long as you don't stack the tortilla packs until after they're frozen. Open, separate, gently place the tortilla package in the freezer. They will stick together slightly, but come apart with no damage. I spread the packages out until frozen, then put them all in one stack. Keep them flat.
Serrano chilis are just a bit spicier than jalapenos. You could absolutely substitute jalapenos in this recipe. There are probably more chili peppers that are less spicy than jalapenos, but I don't know which ones they are. I also note that the powdered chilis you are using is Kashmiri Chili, which is milder than other powdered chilis - but still hot if you're not used to it.
I'm so very happy that Hero changed to olive oil because I loved their products as you recommended them a while back. This may be our New Years Eve surprise, thank you and Happy New Year!
Thank you Emily and Sarah!! I made a already cooked chicken, cream cheese and cheddar cheese mixture, shallow fried and baked for 5 minutes. Amazing! This might be a a weekly staple. Next time pizza filling!
Keto is practically unheard of in Ireland!! 😢 😭 There is a huge opportunity for an enterprising Keto Products Company (HERO?!!!) to move in and create a whole new market!! 🙏 🙏 🤞 🇮🇪 ☘️
Sealing the samosa was hard, not sure how you guys made it look easy. I also tried folding a full tortilla into a burrito and shallow frying it. This was much easier to do and similar texture and taste 😊
I discovered Hero buns and tortillas last summer. What a wonderful discovery! I've used the buns for guests without saying anything about them, and not a single complaint. The buns hold up to a fully loaded cheeseburger. My only complaint about them is now satisfied thanks to them switching to olive oil. Wise move, Hero!
Great vlog ladies! You are so right about the “possibilities are endless”. I’m curious to try cheesy mashed cauliflower w/bacon & chives served w/sour cream…….
I ordered the Hero croissants and tortillas based on your review of them. I was able to get the bread, hot dog & hamburger rolls at Sprouts. I really like every thing I have tried and was thrilled when I got the email that they switched to olive oil. I am on the wait list for the croissants and slider rolls and look forward to more offering from Hero.
Pizza filling of choice.. cheese.. dip in marinara. Mine would be hot Italian sausage.. peppers.. diced pepporoni.. maybe even some ricotta .. some spinach.. ham and swiss... cheese steak style wit... . like you say,, the possibilities are endless. Thanks!
Love you 2, thnx for great samosa recipe! Next time just make 4 slices down the side of Serrano pepper, then throw away the middle part w/ all the seeds.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I made empanadas using your method, and then realized that a taquito is simply a rolled empanada, so I rolled the eat mix in the tortillas and then fried them. Much quicker and just as tasty! This will become a regular for us. Another winner from The Twins!
I have never had a Samosa. These look delish ladies and I can't wait to try this recipe. I love the Hero brand products. The seed bread is the best. Omg, yum. Have a Happy New Years.
I made these samosas this evening. I'm telling you, it was the best thing I've tasted in a very, very long time! It took a while for the 'glue' to seal the low carb tortillas but it was so worth the wait! I plan to make the filling in bulk and freeze it. Thank you for sharing!!! You sweet girls are just awesome!!!!
I have been craving Spanakopita lately... Flakey feta and spinach filled pastry. I made your samosas filled with the mixture and OMG!!! Craving satisfied!! Sending much love to you both and wishing you a fantastic new year!!
I have used arrowroot flour which is low carb to make the paste to glue them wraps . I love you girls and your dynamic fun filled cooking ideas and your commitment to excellence . You both are a real delight love ya to the moon and back 😊
Try egg life wraps! They come in plain, everything bagel, Italian, southwest chipotle and garden salsa. They're made with egg whites which get crunchy in the oven for hard tacos and chips. Haven't tried to deep fry them yet but I would try filling a wrap with the filling and putting it in the oven for 25 minutes at 350° fahrenheit. Any longer and the tortilla will start to crack.
One of my favorite pre-Keto food is Jamaican meat pies. (A Jamaican friend would bring me them from Jamaica when visiting family) I cannot wait to try this to make them. Thank you!
I made samosas with lowcarb wraps and sealed with beaten whole egg, brushed with oil and cooked in the airfryer, still came out super crispy, I've seen recipes for sweet versions like chocolate & hazelnut, would love to see you create a sweet one, I'm thinking baklava style with pistachios!!! Xx

We don't have any Hero bread in these parts of the world. So I'm thinking of trying something else to make sort of crepes instead. I saw in some video they use tahini, eggs, lemon juice and baking soda to make a keto bread (2 eggs, 3 tablespoons of tahini, quarter teaspoon baking soda, less than half a lemon's juice and maybe some salt to taste). It works very well baking in the oven as a loaf or in a pan as pancakes. I'm thinking if I don't put in the backing soda and add some water I might be able to make some crepes from it. It would have a strong tahini taste, but I already enjoy the taste of tahini :-)
This looks sooooo yummy 😋😋😋, Emily and Sarah buuuuuuuuuut unfortunately we don't have these lowcarb / keto Tortillas here in Germany 😢😭😭😭😭!! Nice greetings and I'm wishing you a Happy New Year 2024 with lot of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 and especially lots of HEALTH from Germany, Ela 🤗

Adding water to the ground beef helps to make it a finer (smaller) grind.
I prep my ground beef in the instapot chill it then freeze it in gallon bags. The water definitely makes it crumble easier 😊

Another great tool to strip seeds from peppers is a strawberry huller.
I have one of those burger choppers too. They work great. Thanks for another great recipe.

What oil did you use to fry it?
Avocado oil
Love the Hero tortilla
These are amazing! I made them today with preppy kitchen”s empanadas recipe. So flaky and delicious!! Thanks for creating this video, I would have never thought to use low carb tortillas to create such amazingness!
OMG, I love these - I've been making egg rolls with them. Being a Philly girl, I make Philly cheese steak egg rolls - delish!!!! Uuuuhhhh they make great chimichongas too...
Gonna try it!
That meat filling sounds delicious! I can't wait to try it! Hero looks like a great product! I hope lots of people take you up on trying their offerings (I can't, sadly, because of wheat)!
Bless you for this. I love samosas.
Currypuff/karipap is my fav! Especially the flakyyyy shell! We called it karipap pusing here in Malaysia 😙
They are so good! We are half Malay! ❤️❤️
Those look delish 😋Gonna make these without the chili's. I do not like heat in my food. Not a spicy gal LOL
