If you’re ever in Leyte I’d be happy to show you the farm but honestly it’s not that impressive yet. We are just getting set up here. I have a big business plan but we are starting small and trying to build up as fast as we can. What part of Florida are you from? I’m excited to talk to you more. BTW, I have big killer bees on top of my tree!!! The colony is soooo big that my workers told me not to ever build fire near the area.

    • @beekeepinginparadise5935
      @beekeepinginparadise5935  Рік тому +2

      You’re so lucky! Those aren’t killer bees. There are no killer bees in the Philippines. What you probably have are giant bees known scientifically as Apis Dorsata. They live in trees and in overhangs of caves or buildings. They make tons of honey and massive amounts of wonderful bees wax. I wish I had some on my property. I can’t wait to try to work with them and collect their products. Your workers might know a local honey hunter who can make a very smokey fire to drive the bees away and then maybe you can split the honey and wax with him. It’s a shame though because when they do this they will often force the bees to leave and then the whole hive is harvested and destroyed. It’s hard on the bees. Good luck with it. I hope you’ll include it in your next video if you do anything with them. I hope to hear from you again soon. Take care.

      @beekeepinginparadise5935  Рік тому

      I get it completely. No problem or argument there. I’m just saying it would be best if you can find someone who can harvest all that wax and possibly some honey for you before you drive them away. I have an older video on how to process all the wax for free with things you may have in your kitchen already. You might be able to make some nice candles. Good luck and I hope to see it on video sometime. God bless.

      @beekeepinginparadise5935  Рік тому

      Thank you for the kind comment my friend. I'm so happy to hear from you. Yes! Mission accomplished indeed, but this was the easy part. I'm learning fast that keeping these little bugs alive is actually way harder here than in the USA. You'll have to keep watching. It's incredible how nature works for the good and for the tragic. I'm happy for the bees mostly. They were so gentle. None of us got stung when we were installing them into the hives. I thought they might be grumpy from the long move, but they were really nice. They actually find their way home by sight. They navigate by the sun and by landmarks which is why they fly in circles so long as soon as they come out of the box in a new location. They are fascinating! Pheromones play a really huge role inside the hive to communicate and to alert other bees to threats. If I live 2 more lifetimes I'll never know everything I want to learn about these bugs. Take care and God bless you buddy. I hope to hear from you again really soon. Keep the comments coming.

    Whoooooh! Finally! I'll be praying for your success alongside many others.
    Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand, the bees you have are all subspecies of A. mellifera? Or are they separate species entirely?
    Also you seem to have an Arctic Warbler in the farm, right around 8:45. I think it's hanging out around the coconuts. :)
    A few other species too were distracting me from your commentary hahaha...

      Thank you so much. I’m going to need all those prayers. This is already proving to be a huge challenge. You’ll see more in the next video. All the bees are apis melifera, just 3 different subspecies, Italians, Buckfast (named by a monk Beekeeper from the Buckfast Abbey) and Caucasian. Sometimes I get distracted by the beautiful bird calls too. I wish I had the talent to be able to identify them like you. God bless you my friend. I appreciate the kind comment as always. • @beekeepinginparadise5935
      @beekeepinginparadise5935  Рік тому

      Ithank you for the comment Patrick. I know what you mean but these bees are from Manila I didn’t import them. There are thousands of European bee colonies all over the Philippines being raised for honey production and of all the bees in the country these are the most difficult to keep alive and propagate. There is no chance of these taking over and pushing out other native species. I’m very aware of the stingless bees but I have no experience in raising them and they produce very small amounts of very expensive honey. My goal here is to bring a product to market that can satisfy the demand for pure natural honey for my community at an affordable price while returning a profit that can support my family. For me, this is the best way I can achieve that goal. Thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate it. God bless you my friend. Bee well. I hope to hear from you again soon.
