Thank you for the mud turtle video. Of all the herping channels I'm subscribed to, I almost never hear any mention of mud turtles. Would love to hear more in the future if you ever come across any.
Damn dude Georgia seems to be a turtle guys dream with so many species you come across..I have a 3stripe mud turtle as a hatchling 2yrs now found in the community pool after a big rain just like you mentioned...keep that girl and nurse her to good health I have a feeling you’re doing just that. Love the channel and keep it up!🐢❤️✌️
@@lulutravels5914 My turtle doesn't bask at all, I have her in a 45 gallon tub with a 25 watt uvb and a 70 watt heat bulb but she preferse to be at the bottom of the tub, I don't know why, but every once in a while you'll see her bask for like 2 hours and then jump back in the water.
hi, thanks for your videos, the turtles you show, I keep at home in the czech republic, it's perfect to see their natural environment where they live. So I can create a piece of nature for them in the aquarium at home.
I live down in Clearwater Florida n I found two 3 stripes in a local park near where I live, the first one was on a concrete sidewalk that goes through the park n she was hiding in her shell right by a bench in the park n imo she was looking to lay some eggs. She was about half a foot from dirt on top of the concrete sidewalk by the park bench n that was about another 500-800 feet from the park stream I think she came from n it too had been after the rains when i found her, anyway I took her home with me n I’ve become attached to her. Then we went n bought her a striped turtle friend at the pet shop for 60$, then just last week we were walking in the same park n decided to cover all the steam that went through the park instead of just walking in one spot, n we did it about 4-5 times n we found a 2nd one swimming in the stream this time, I hopped in n got her but not before she looked up at me and hid under a rock in the stream. Now I’ve got two three stripe muds from the park steam n another one from a local pet shop. In order from first to last that I found them they are Mable, Sammy, n Rocky. I’m addicted to them now. I fill my bathtub up ( almost to the top ) every night n let them swim in it for two hours n imo they love it. Sammy n Rocky float on the top n Mable for whatever reason she’s a bottom dweller. Anyway just thought I’d share my three striped mud turtle odyssey, cheers 🍻😊
I know nothing of the native mud turtle habits, living in N. Illinois. You mentioned them hunting on land. Do they not require water to swallow their prey? Thanks.
Hey u cover so many turtle species but what I miss is some spotted turtle footage :) Do u see them sometimes in the wild ? The population is sadly fast declining...
Here in Ga they are rare and protected, I have talked with a few folks and I’m working on a spotted turtle video, but best chances will be in fall or march
