The Bluetooth will be the selling point for me. I work on aerial equipment I often have to take readings from the ground control while being in the basket. I have to be real creative to it. It should have a rubber protective case as option. Same with the multi-probe I would use it more if it had more drop or damage protection.
Blake Pankratz You can get a brand new 2 channel pico 4225 for ~$700. You can get the Autel 4 channel that you can use with a laptop for $500 or even a little less. There are other options as well. You can get a Micsig 4 channel tablet oscilloscope for $400-500 on Amazon that has great reviews from people that use it for automotive purposes. I picked up a otc 3840 when I was browsing through the pawn shop one day last year for $200. I already have a pico 4425 but it was too good of a deal to pass up. It looked brand new with the plastic still on the screen and all the leads still in the packages. If you can’t find a decent scope for $700 then you’re not looking hard enough.
@@Jpilgrim30 Thanks for the info, I have not heard of the Micsig, and did not know Autel made one. I will look into those options. The reason I'm even on this video is because I was hoping they had added a scope feature to this multimeter.
The pico scope is the way to go if you don't need a handheld scope. If you do want a handheld scope, get a vantage pro. You can find them used for around $600-700. You can't go wrong with either option. I'm not a fan of the autel scope but love their scan tool. Happy wrenching
Mine came with a strong magnet strap which has a hook on it to. Magnet holds it pretty good. I always usually take my new tools home and check them out.
Just picked one of these up for work as a diesel mechanic on class C motorhomes and I am the shops electrical diagnostician. This tool is very ry handy when you need to hook up at the back of the coaches and activate a switch inside and can see real time data from outside. You could in theory use a spool of jumper leads but that’s time consuming stringing all that wire out lol
Great video as always!!! Thank you for your tool reviews and sharing your professional view on new tools. Snap-on always makes the best equipment and that Bluetooth feature is amazing!!!
I hear these comments about their $50 meter doing just as good. Sticker shock always gets me on the SO truck no doubt and I hate spending all this money on tools I could get cheaper but I hate it even more when I save a buck and end up with something that just doesn’t do it right. These guys who clean their cheap meters are just fine, I doubt they have been in the situations I have been in. Just picked up this meter. It will be fine. Had a Mac one that was great except the leads keep the pulling out of the meter. The fluke is a great meter too by the way.
Just bought one brand new for $600 from my Mac guy of all people, some older guy had it and was to advanced for him, still had the plastic over the screen. Thing is sick I love that multimeter
I think the Bluetooth would be useful for checking bad wires hooking the meter on one side then using the phone to look at the meter while shaking the wires looking at the ohms but I think it would be nice also to see a hanger for the meter to hang in a position at eye level instead of on the floor while in different positions were it might be difficult to view
I’m clutching my Fluke 115 like a Bond villain does their cat! (Precious!) This looks like a really nifty meter tho, I have a feeling tho that you would have to get a separate phone just for it so that you don’t leave your personal phone behind someplace when taking measurements remotely when utilizing Bluetooth. I’m sure they are going to include a printout device, because knowing where I work, they want a Midtronics printout for every single charging and starting system test we do on PMs, unless it has a USB output to connect to a printer, but I guess that’s why you can email it all to yourself.
I think for the price its a great DVOM. Im with you on the amp clamps. Snap on does offer a few options on amp clamps but the prices are a little out of line for an accessory. I was really looking forward to being able to change the function from the app. I think that is the biggest downside to it. It is VERY fast reacting, and that is the biggest plus in my opinion. All in all I am very happy with my purchase so far.
All the guys saying its not needed. Well im a heavy equipment mechanic and I work on a lot off boom lifts. Its nice to be able to go 60 feet in air and leave the meter on the ground work the controls and see my voltage on my phone 60ft away. Great way to test stuff. But 50% agree with being just a pretty meter that snaps the wallet.
Just picked up this meter from my snap on guy. I purchased it along with an "accessories" package with a whole thing of different test leads. I'm impressed with the presentation of it all and looking forward to using it but damn don't want to get this thing dirty lol.
@michaelpatton5012 the meter itself was around $700 with the accessories running an additional $200 if I'm not mistaken. About a grand for the whole thing. I'll get you the part numbers for both when I get off of work later today if you'd like.
Love this tool... My Snap-on guy gave me pretty nice discount so I bought it. So far I have no issues with it. Even If later on, Snap-on came out with a meter more geared like a scan tool, with instead of using your phone and a app, everything is now on the multimeter screen... I would still hold on to this one.
The tool can be used for Electric vehicles, but it looks like it doesn't do an insulation test. So you'll have to buy another meter to do that. And who uses a rpm pick-up? A good Amp-clamp would have been more useful.
very true. I just bought this today for the blue tooth feature alone. i was working on the combine last night and i need to measure the voltage going to a actuator that only runs for 3 seconds and that is impossible to do when the switch is in the cab and the actuator is on the back of the combine. When i was checking it out on the truck i was under the impression it was a amp pick up and while watching this video i learned other wise and i am slightly upset about that to say the least. But there is always tomorrow to spend another 700 dollars lol.
$700 that is crazy. Can do same tests with $50 multimeter. But I guess you are paying $650 for the Snap-on logo and $50 for the multimeter. Logo should say Strap-on because your dealer just gave it to you hard and dry
Just got one the the other day to replace my Fluke 115. The Bluetooth was a big selling point for me. Seems like it’s probably the last meter that I’ll need in my career -- also why I shelled the money out.
Good review honest from your view point. Snap on should stick to wrenches and sockets. For the money you can buy a fluke with more options and can measure dc current with a amp probe type pickup.
That would be extremely helpful in my work. Would be so much easier to claim warranty on slide out motors leveling jacks hydraulic pumps and air conditioning units to just graph the operation record it and email it off to the mfg to show I’m not bs ing them on the readings. Only thing I didn’t catch was if it has a clamp amp tool for reading amp draws. Would really like to see it in action on a amp draw if so. Nice review bud.
Thanks man, I tried to do an amp draw with the low amp clamp and it really isn’t tuned towards this application. But hopefully in the near future they will have one that is not so touchy and tuned for this meter.
O man your kidding. If it had that capability that would be so worth it to me. Sometimes the money is an issue but on the other hand sometimes it’s easier to make the money with the right tools. Let me know if u hear anything about that.
Thanks for the real review I As Master M B Tech have been looking for a modern replacement for My Mac low amp multimeter. I would love to have repeatability and a more modern replacement. This meter was the only one I know of that is inductive and is not atacheted to the voltage input. Thanks Jim

Truck Mechanic I figured it would be a grand when they previewed it. I’ve had several Fluke meters over the last 40 years or so. You can get a 1587 or pico for that price.
roaddoglv ,,, I would use the $700.00 for anything better.. Snap On needs to stick to hand tools.. I have a Modis and use the scope all the time and that scanner BUT as we both know there is/are better out there for the same money.. But there hand tools are very hard to beat.

Amp clamp should work on any DVOM. Turn auto range setting off. Set it on DC volts. Amp clamp should show conversion scale on front of clamp. Ie 10mv for every 100 ma.
Yes it does work that way...only other thing I would point out is that if on mA setting the meter has a small resistive value that is not accounted for. Would be interesting to see a good low amp clamp tuned to this meter.
I am not sure the refresh rate will be fast enough to get to graphing faster then that, you might need an oscope for that. For a comparison you can use the Owon B41T+ multimeter it has similar specs and capability minus doing the math for rpms vs hz.
NICE!!! Good job beating that other guy by getting your video out first and you'll actually be using it! Lol, I'm actually trying to sell myself on a meter.
My last one was a B series from 08 that was barely hanging on. This one is a big step into actually being modern and yes, I’ll be using it nearly daily.
Hey Rustbelt Mechanic what lights are you using in your hutch? I'm looking at upgrading to LED from the florescent style I have. Thanks for the review on the Multi-meter mine should be here any week now.
Instead of being used for automotive work, it should be safely preserved in the Museum Of Ridiculousness. Any mechanic good enough at what they do to afford this, won't need to spend $50, let alone $700. All it really is, is a thief magnet. Considering this, it should have a built in GPS locator with a phone app, and also a proximity sensor and locator fob so you can hunt down where it went. Even then, don't forget to invest in theft insurance and while you're at it, get your head examined if you feel $700 for a meter is a wise purchase. I just know there is some Snap-On shill out there that will tell us this lets him work faster. Not really, once you factor in having to get it out of your wall safe because you can't leave it lying around unattended, lol.
Too true, a $4.99 multi-meter will often do just as well for majority of tasks and you have no problem leaving it laying around. Personally I prefer separate meters, an all in one goes missing and your screwed (although I guess not many mechanics need capacitor testers or ultrasonic thickness testers?)
@@peterjones6945 lol this is funny. If you are a DIYer, sure, a Harbor Freight multimeter will work fine. But, they are inaccurate. If you are a professional technician, inaccurate measurements will be very harmful to you. In addition, if you work on Hybrid vehicles, you need a Hybrid rated multimeter that you can trust your life with. If you try to use your Harbor Freight meter on a hybrid system, you will be shocked and possibly die.
Techs that want to diagnose cars properly need a good multimeter. It can be Fluke, Klein, or Snap On. The only thing that sets Snap On ahead is it’s student discount. Snap On sells a similar meter that is around $400. With a discount, it goes to around $200. That is way cheaper than the Fluke 87 or 88.
Appearance: A Price: D- New function, aka the blue tooth : C Warranty: 1 year like everything else? (F) Am say 700 ? Hmmm I can buy better stuff (real scope) from ASE Wave on credit Great video And yes I hit subscrbe
Another still on overpriced shit, do not get strap-on you by paying this weekly for a lifetime, they do make great tools but you always can get them at a fraction of the price second hand, stay safe and avoid the man with the van.
why would an automotive meter not come with an inductive high current clamp? I'm sure they are willing to sell you one for another $300-500, but that isn't the point. For the people bitching about price, this is Snap-On. You pay for that guy to come to your shop each week. Just the way it is. Also, if you think you can find a $50 true RMS DMM , go ahead on that! I paid $600 for a Fluke 88 on the Matco truck years ago. $700 isn't a bad price all things considered. If it came with a current clamp, it would be a pretty damn good value, assuming the specs are good.
If you really want the ultimate meter for automotive, get a Power Probe IV or the hook, you'll seldom to never touch that meter again. The RPM thing I shrug at since wires have all but gone away and those clips don't work on coil packs.
Unfortunately I’ve not found one that connects into this meter to work really reliably. Because it’s such a low amperage that you are looking for, the meter would need to be “tuned” more or less to the clamp. I use the snapon eedm570.
Yes it’s not like the older B-D class meters where you had to pry half the meter part. Four screws on the back panel and the two fuses are easily accessible, not exactly sure about the fuse numbers.
That will be the next test to see how fast of a signal it can pickup but my guess would be about the speed of turning a wheel hub by hand and graphing the wheel speed sensor.
The Snap-On multimeter is great! You can use it to check the drain on your wallet.
lol. best comment ever!

They need to make bluetooth leads that way your meter is away from danger and ease of measuring outputs and inputs
Thanks for video
Looks like nice tool

I'm not a mechanic. But why do mechanics have to buy Snap-on if I hear it super expensive? Is Craftsman or Husky tools or their boxes not good?
It would take a couple of days to answer your first question. The answer to the second question is No (with some caveats).
Appearance: A

Great video
And yes I hit subscrbe

That’s why I put all this info out there for you guys to make your own personal decisions about it👍
Actually it has a 7 year warranty
@@PatriotEquipmentRepair WHAT!!!!🤯🤯🤯EVERTHING ON MY GUYS TRUCK 1 YEAR THEN THE OLD REFURBISH FEE
AM SHOCKED ,but hey finally a decent warranty
What's the difference the advance, enhanced, and basic.
Verdict meter with wave-forms is more useful.
Being able to graph an 8th of a second makes all the difference with digital circuits in micro-electronics. Less of a use on the mechanical side.
Have you tried the rpm magnetic pickup yet?
Excellent! Thank you!
Thanks for the review bro, i like it I think same as you 👍
How much is the tool multimeters?
$699
If you really want the ultimate meter for automotive, get a Power Probe IV or the hook, you'll seldom to never touch that meter again. The RPM thing I shrug at since wires have all but gone away and those clips don't work on coil packs.
I noticed when checking continuity the beep is very muffled can barely hear it
What Clamp would you recommend for amp draw testing on a battery? 🍻👍
Unfortunately I’ve not found one that connects into this meter to work really reliably. Because it’s such a low amperage that you are looking for, the meter would need to be “tuned” more or less to the clamp. I use the snapon eedm570.
Tank for share the product
How did you mount your tv on the hutch
Haven't seen on my truck yet how much do they cost ?
$699
Happy Thanksgiving Bro. I want one. Not sure why I don’t use them often enough to drop the coin, but looks pretty sweet too me.
Lol, the shiny new electronic tools tend to have that effect👍🏻
Rustbelt Mechanic Yes they do.lol
You drank the cool aid lol
Those don't look like really good silicone wire leads , cheap looking alligator clips .. I'll keep my Fluke gear ..
lufkin tape I would use fluke leads even with the snap-on meter
Is the fuse easy to access and what type does it use?
Yes it’s not like the older B-D class meters where you had to pry half the meter part. Four screws on the back panel and the two fuses are easily accessible, not exactly sure about the fuse numbers.
@@RustbeltMechanic ok cool thanks was hoping that it used automotive type fuses like the vantage thanks
Great job, will this some how link to Verus Edge
No it will not, I forgot to throw that in the video but it does not. It is only IOS or android app based.
What about the 1 man taillight testing?!
Good video. Nice job
Anybody know the Bluetooth range in distance ft or meters???
I think Snap On should (maybe they do), sell the meter without the accessories. Anybody that has purchased a meter in the past already has them.
No way, 700 and no scope. The meter that came with the verdict has a scope they use to sell it stand alone and it was around the same price.
How fast is the Sampling rate?
That will be the next test to see how fast of a signal it can pickup but my guess would be about the speed of turning a wheel hub by hand and graphing the wheel speed sensor.
shame its not made in USA
Snap-on sold a graphing meter in 2000
