How To Clean A Keurig Coffee Maker - Навчання та стиль
DO NOT USE UNDILUTED VINEGAR TO CLEAN! I watched this video so that I could clean my keurig. I filled the reservoir halfway with vinegar, ran 2 cycles & now it won’t turn on. I did more research that you need to dilute the vinegar with water because the vinegar alone has way too much acidity & it can ruin the mechanisms. now I have to get a new coffee maker! please make it know that you need to dilute the vinegar in the reservoir before running a brew cycle.
Thank you for saying something because I was about to try this video. Was also a little concerned with using only vinegar in the tank
@@caseyholder5850 of course! I wish I had read the comments before following the video🤦🏼♀️
I have had my Keurig for years and have descaled it multiple times. I always use undiluted vinegar and have never had a problem.
This happened to me last week. Had to get a new coffee maker this week. It was for the best tho. This one is so much better 😂
Thanks for sharing sorry about your
coffee machine
Pro tip: Fill the machine with 3/4 vinegar the rest with water cycle the machine until you start to see a drip. Turn it off. Let it sit overnight. I’m in the morning finish the cycle and run to four containers of hot water through it.. letting the vinegar sit allows it to break up the hard water build up it off insides the water line.
This may have already been commented, but the attachments are not dishwasher safe. They all say specifically, "Hand wash only" and I have the same one she is demonstrating with.
the one i have specifically says dishwasher safe, but i hand wash it regardless
My Keurig 2.0 is NOT dishwasher safe!
Thank you so much for posting this video. My Keurig has been in the garage for over a year because my daughter bought me a new coffee maker. I wanted to get it all cleaned up to take to our lake house for my dad to have coffee. This worked like a charm with items I had here at home. 2 thumbs up!!!
Thank you so much. It was very helpful and now I can enjoy my Keurig again.
Thanks so much for this!! My Keurig has been in storage for a while and I was finally able to get out and wanted to start using it again. Instant coffee is not where it’s at anymore 😂😂
Girl if you don’t want your Keurig give it to me
@@USA-CANADA1480 oh I wanted it I just lost my home and had to put everything in storage lol
Thanks for the video! I haven’t used mine in a while since my mother in law moved out. It definitely needed a good cleaning…😂 I enjoy a cup of coffee every once in a while…
Thank you!! This was very helpful🤘🏾
Thanks for sharing I will defenitely try this!
Excellent and to the point. Why are there so many 10 minute videos on this topic??!
Probably because there's a reservoir that always holds water. Disassembling it way further than this video demonstrates is the only way to clean that.
I've read that on the rinse cycle, to get Vinegar completely out, best to use distilled water which won't have the minerals left behind. Also, the rinse should be repeated at least 6 times! Here's an article that says 12 times, which seems over kill, but it was a credible source "Good housekeeping"
"Empty and rinse the reservoir thoroughly. Fill it to the MAX line with fresh water and perform 12 rinsing brews using the largest brew size to remove any traces of vinegar or descaling solution"
12 rinses? Ridiculous
12 doesn't seem excessive to me. The last time I cleaned with vinegar my coffee tasted like vinegar for the next two weeks 😝
THANK YOU!
Thank you❤
Thank you! I did a thorough cleaning of essential components as directed by this video and now my Keurig, which hadn't seemingly been brewing correctly, is running the water tests correctly. Hopefully, that means coffee will brew just as well.
Thank you for sharing useful tips:)
How about disassembling the pod holder after a pod disintegrates covering the interior with grounds? (Asking for a friend?)
This tutorial was surprisingly helpful for when I lost my key inside my keurig
@@jrcoolcat101 Right?! What key? Does the unit HAVE a key? HOUSE key? CAR key? I'll tell ya, I thought I was confused before ...😜
@@cornfusedatbest3980 now I gotta know, what key and how?
@@tamimiller6720 Prolly used the end of a car key or other key, to pick away at the coffee ground buildup around the k-cup holder on the machine...my guess! 🤔
I have a descale button on my coffee maker. How does it work?
I just bought a K-Express single serve coffee maker . Where does the filters go. doesn't see anyplace that shows that. I would like to know before I order them
How do you clean out all the gunk that builds up in the area behind where the pod goes in?
Or the top lid that punctures the pod!.. the inverted part..
Thank you I have 2.0
Can you use used motor oil to clean a Keurig? A guy named Tyler Durden use to use it on his lawn as fertilizer.
What about the filter inside the resivior?
Good point, also what about under the lid where the kcup holder goes, lots of buildup in my inherited Keurig. I'm tempted to pitch the whole thing in the dw, let it dry then take my chances on whether it works or not. Toothbrush doesn't deal with the corners.
Maybe get it wet then blast it with an airhose.
Can I use apple cider vinegar?
Thank you for this helpful video. It looks like you stuck your index finger down inside the K-cup holder and poked it on the needle. Ouch. (I did it myself so I know how it feels 😲.)
This is good for the basics. But does anyone know how to clean out the caked up coffee grounds from within the KCup holder and funnel. You can’t get a toothbrush in the hole to reach the edges. I have tried multiple tiny bottle brushes but because there is so much “gunk” it won’t touch it. Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.
I use a metal dental pick with a clorox wipe wrapped around the end .
Or paper clip straightened out with a wipe
I use the small brush that came with my metal drinking straws and also a q-tip & wipes.
Happens if you can take anything apart
This and all others I've checked don't deal with the buildup in the corners where the K cup holder goes. I inherited a machine and still can't get the buildup out of the corners
I haven’t found anything to help as well, so I tried something myself. I took Q-tips and tried to clean it that way. I swiped up whatever I could with them, and whatever it didn’t pick up, it knocked it loose. After I finished with the Q-tips, I poured water down where the K-cups go and it went through the machine and down into a cup. I repeated this several several times (times will vary depending how bad the buildup is) and it helped clean the build up quite a bit. You can see all the build up fall into the cup while pouring the water and the water get cleaner and cleaner till clear 😊
You can also pop out the part that holds the K cups, and purchase a new one at Walmart or online for like $10, so you don’t have to try to clean it lol.
@@makaylacarnrike7202 Thanks, I tried taking it apart and broke it so into the dumpster.
Found a brand new one at a Thrift store for 29 bucks.. it still had the original wrapping tape holding the instructions in place.
@@makaylacarnrike7202 Regular Q tips were not long enough so I got a couple of Q tips from my med kit. They are twice as long and can reach. We use them for dealing with foreign objects in the eye. Also the fuzzy part is smaller and not as fuzzy.
Even a Tupperware orange peeler using the flat end with a rag. Anything to get into the corners.
It takes a variety of ‘tools’ and tricks.
The new one gets a cup of water run thru after each brew.
That’s what the instructions say.
What about the filter? How do you clean that?
You replace the filter. You can buy replacements online
I did that and the descale light is still on ,
Yeah I guess this video helps if you have the top of the line Keurig but my Keurig only has half of the removable stuff yours does
I tried this and my kurig won’t turn on now :(
Please help
same here! I ran 2 cycles with just white vinegar like she said & now mine won’t turn on. I researched more & found numerous articles saying that straight vinegar has too much acidity & will ruin the mechanisms! i’m pretty mad cause now I am out $100 & have to buy a new one.
I cleaned my coffee maker like video said with half White vinegar half water my machine will no longer work and found out if you use vinegar to clean will void your warranty
I did this and my Keurig stopped working, wont brew at all anymore. :/
I like your Boogaloo shirt! 😉 #Represent
🇺🇸🇩🇲🐸🦍🚁
You didn't clean the needle.
Paper clip ......opened up...... (push through)
My coffee has a permanent vinegar after taste after cleaning it like this I hate it.
It’s still shuts off mid brew. Comments section is full of bots.
There is no way to get all the mold out if the inside of the machine without taking it a part. These things are gross
Uhmmm no. I refuse to use Heinz vinegar to just clean my Keurig. It’s too expensive. I’ll use Walmart Great Value Vinegar which is the only vinegar I can afford even with cooking 😂
Just like most water filters, you don't clean a Keurig filter, you replace it with a new one.
This is no help putting it back together if the cleaning person took the piece off that holds the funnel part.
Vinegar killed my machine.
Same here lol
@@rowlag Hey Guys, I Used 50% Filter Water, 25% Cleaning Vinegar, 25% Multi-purpose Vinegar. The Cleaning vinegar Cleans What The Multi-Purpose Vinegar Leaves Behind. Your Both Correct. When I Used Straight Vinegar I Ruined my Machine Also. Thanks
mine won’t turn on now😡
Thanks. Now my coffee taste like vinegar.
My Keurig broke after this because you didn’t state to add water with vinegar 🤦♂️
Do don’t follow this. They literally make a special solution to clean your Keurig. You could possibly break the machine.
There are a ton of comments saying people's Keurig have stopped working because they used straight vinegar which messed up the mechanisms. I've never once used a Keurig before but I ended up clicking the vid anyway. So, i want you to delete this video right now. Good effort in making the vid but since it is false info and causing thousands of dollars of damage, that is uncalled for. You should feel terrible, these are the kind of b.s videos that need to be reported. Matter of fact I'll do just that. Good day
Why on EARTH are you telling people to use undiluted vinegar?! Do you work for Keurig and want people to ruin their machines so they have to buy new ones?! It's nearly common knowledge that you can't use that much acidity on something that's mechanical. Or at least, it should be.
Home insider you need to delete this video or run the risk being sued giving advice for ruining machines for views, likes and subscriptions.
