We now have 9 guinea fowl. One is setting on a nest of eggs in the barn. I'm afraid some of them are making nests outdoors but I haven't found them yet. They all come into the barn at night so if they have nests out there we haven't found them yet.

Do your brooding coops keep the snakes out as well?

I recently acquired some guinea fowl two females one male . They’re still in the coop getting settled . Do you think I need another male ? Also do you think they’ll lay eggs in the coop or they need to roam to be able to lay . Thanks

Hi, I think you'll be okay with one male and two females. In my experience problems occurred only when I had more males than females. The "extra" males were run off by the males who secured relationship with the females. Good luck! :)

    Please I have a question,
Can a guinea flow still lay eggs and hatch if the feathers are peal off or cut constantly ?
(peal off or cut so that thay won't away)
    Thanks for your answer.

Hi, yes, they will still lay eggs and set on eggs if their wing feathers are cut off. They will definitely still lay eggs. For setting on the eggs, they have to feel they have a good place to make a nest and sit on it for 26 days. Good luck!

They will still lay eggs if their wing feathers are trimmed. They will set and hatch as long as they feel safe and make sure they have enough feathers left to keep eggs warm.

I love 🥰 my guinea fowl! We live in West Texas. Recently we had to rehome our chickens; due to an unexpected vaccine disability. I kept my guineas because they're so independent! We love the eggs! Do y'all have any advice on nesting boxes for guineas? They've been laying under a shelf with a pallet propped against. Lately I'm only getting 2 eggs; we have 4 laying hens. I have 10 teenage guineas coming up; everyone is free ranging on 15 acres. Due to my new disability I can only get to the barn and back to the house. Any nesting advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! I love your videos!

Hi, guinea fowl much prefer to nest down low on the ground, so the pallet situation sounds ideal. Just make sure they have plenty of straw or other nesting materials. By putting their eggs there, they are telling you that's where they want to nest. Just also make sure they are protected from predators, including snakes, possums, and rats.

Hi, no, ours have always preferred to build a nest on the floor or on the ground, even when they had the option to put it in a nest box up higher.

Make sure they have an ideal habitat for nesting, then protect them once they begin to nest.

I shoot any possum, skunk or Raccoon that comes around. I go out on patrol at night once in awhile it seems to work lol

I don't blame you. You have to protect your birds or else something will kill them. We're lucky so far not to have raccoons (as far as I know), but we do get possums and skunks.
