I prefer the Silky saws, the Bahco is good too and durable.
Yep had one of these for years! Great little saws and that’s why they were issued by the Military! I believe they still carry a NATO stock number! Best wishes brother 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Nicely done and yup the laplander is designed by the clever Swedes to do wood and bone saves carring two saws out hunting used one for about 20 years when doing the deer cull magic wee saw
Solid, reliable, humble. I love the laplander ATB.
Loving this new channel!!!!
I must be doing something right, I do have one 😀 And you’re correct, it’s a great little thingy. Take care mate 👍
Will always have their place! :)
Sharp presentation !!!
I have had my laplander since 2007, purchased in the UK, been in my kit all over the world and still going. Same bloody blade. I know the Japanese Silky's are amazing but the old Bahco works for me and cheap as chips.
Have one, but found my Silky is better. Both great.
I've had years of pleasure out of my Laplander, but recently found a slight upgrade in the Silky F180 (the one with the red handle & larger teeth). It's lighter and easier to pocket then the Bahco, but saws quicker/less effortless and it is also very affordable. Check it out if you like. Cheers mate.
Great review Andy. Absolutely love this little saw. I bought one about two years ago. I haven't abused it, but I haven't exactly babied it either. The set and the sharpness of the teeth show no wear as yet. Over 5K sub's!!! Good to see. Be well. Roger
They last so well! thanks.. I think 5 K on the main channel took well over a year haha
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 I'm betting you will see between 50-100K by years end.🛶
I love the laplander, yet to be tempted by the silky saws, thanks Andy 👍🙂
Its all going to depend on your needs I think.. if its mainly smaller stuff up to a wrist thick I still love the laplander
Never used a Bahco, but for the extra few bucks, I think I will stick to Silky. Appreciate your effort and time in making this new channel of reviews. Keep breathin'.
For amazing value and durability, these things are absolutely unbeatable.
Along with other comments... yep I've had one for years and it's brilliant!!! Bought it for camping trips initially but so useful in the garden too. Well done for featuring in a review because I wouldn't be without it!!!
you can straighten any bends in the blade without fear of breaking, the steel used is very forgiving of that. regards.
Excellent job editing the title sequence for the new channel, Andy. It looks great. 👍🙂
Thanks for the great review. Like you, I have the Big Boy, which I use when I need to cut larger diameter wood, but the Bahco is what I carry 99% of the time. Tried and true.
It's a must have! Very versatile and strong. I bought it as kit along with the mora knife. I bought it to be part of my outdoor toolbox and it ended being the favorite everyday gardening tool of my wife!
What bout some maintenance or cleaning tips on these reviews? Great video, keep em coming
Yep . Great little saw . Had mine a year now and it does the trick. Take care fella 👍
Love this! Compact, sturdy, gets the job done. Thanks Andy.
I love my one. Must be good part of 3 years old and still strong as a ox. Can you review or suggest a top notch multi tool/swiss army knife? It will be my next purchase as one i got for Christmas is way to flimsy.
Laplanders cut both ways, some other saws only cut on the backward pull.
very true.. efficient little thing
Really enjoying this new channel even though I don't do wild camping.
Superb item!
I just bought the kit; If you buy the Japanese edge it will be better
This is a fantastic bit of kit, well worth the money 👍👌
Wish I would have had that with me Saturday... Would have saved a day working on the Green Hornet...
Nice review Andy 👍. I got one for $ 2:00 at a yard sale 😜. Found it hard to buy a replacement blade for it . Bass pro and Cabela's , don't sell replacement blades 😖
Cool may buy a similar one.
Good to have in the forest with a simple stove.
So, you'll be hitting 1500 views in under 24 hrs.....🤠👍no worries about this channel taking off. A quality saw, the silky is legend but the Laplander has the advantage when taking branches off a fallen tree on the ground because of the limited travel room for the blade.
Nice video Andy. Good info
Ordered mine...Cheers Andy...
Hey you can list your secondary channels on your main channel so when people check you out they can see your others.
I love the Laplander! (Tennessee, USA) Inexpensive on Amazon
I’ve got three! Industry standard.
Love it and the price is awesome got that and the knife for £23👍
'Hot' saws come and go on Bushcraft channels, so it is good to know that the Bahco is still 'up there' in the mix.
certainly.. I have one of these in my truck at all times :)
Quality saw for the dollar Andy, love mine mate... Lee
don't leave home without it haha... funny looks in the pub though lol
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 😂🤣
After seeing you use this in previous vids decided in needed one myself, picked up a Silky super accel 👌, do you plan on reviewing hatchets 🪓 to Forrest axes 🪓. Ps I am now a fat wood harvesting master lol.
Love my Laplander, went with it over the silky... never seen a Laplander with the tip broke off. Great review!
I have one I've still never had the time to test. Lol🍻
I love mine. I have a Silky but I tend to bring the Laplander out more with me. Especially if I’m out with family or friends. For people that aren’t as “experienced” the Laplander is easier to use and safer. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
First one that counts
Hello Kent, I have one aswell . How long does the blade last and can it be sharpened?
( Would also like to see a video on gear maintenance!)
Wonder how this compares to the Silky pocket boy?
Ordered 👍
won't regret it :)
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 Never Doubted it Andy if you Rate it, Cuts on both Strokes I read .Bonus 👍
Here's an advice. Try the BAHCO 2449. Thank me later.
Thanks for the review. Just not a fan of saws of this size. Sven saw backpacking; actual chainsaw when horsepacking.
Love your channel. Would be nice to get lost in an area where one doesn't need to worry about Griz...
How fast does the Laplander blade become dull? Does it wear down and become dull fairly fast, when using it to cut wood?
Sandvik has more than earned its legendary status over the last 100+ years as being one of the most efficient and reliable blade steels. No matter wether it's a knife a wood saw or a metal saw, if it's got 'Sandvik' stamped on the blade you can rest assured that you're holding a quality bit of kit that's built like a tank. Sandvik steel is extremely sharp and hard wearing because of its properties and its heat treatment. Laplander saw blades will cut through tough dense materials with ease. The only thing that will prematurely dull the blade on a Laplander is if you persistently hit anything metal while using it. Nails/screws/steel wire etc. I say 'persistently' cos Sandvik blade steel is so hard that you can get away with the occasional light pressure collision with a bit of hidden metal. If you use the Laplander for cutting the various specific materials it's been designed for, you can abuse the blade to your hearts content. You'll be scratching your head 12 months later, wondering why it's still so sharp 💪👌
I use the Laplander for buskraft but also as professional gardener. The blade will bent but rearly break. It's thuff steal. I had a big boy but gave it away. The blade is very hard and the tip will snap off. 3 times in my case. Laplander is cheaper too.
Absolutely brilliant Andy
Usefull info
I bought the winnerwell stove from canvas tent as you recommended
Can u recommend pans etc to cook with????
Haha
Cheers
Ah nice!, which one did you get? ive used cast iron and aluminium on it but I think a stainless steel one is a good middle ground.. iron takes a while to heat and aluminium can warp a little and if its not in full contact with the stove top can take longer or have hot spots.. something like the Stanley or pathfinder pans would be good.
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 I got the same as you showed in Ur video Andy
Ur testing an advice is brill
Thanks!!!!!!
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 thanks for the pan advice!!!!!haha
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 getting the kokoon deluxe bell tent from canvas tent shop aswell.i did name drop but ultimately thanks
It's a great channel
Just got one from Amazon but it looks like a fake: cheap build, it doesn't lock in the open position and when it is in the closed position you can slide it open at least an inch until the locks blocks the opening movement exposing the teeth at the point of the blade. Is this how the original works too??? Thanks for any feedback.
Yea, nope. I have used my friends Bahco Laplanders and wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. A lot of that is the fact that they are massively over priced here in Canada but my old Cohglans Sierra saw that I have had for years makes a Bahco look sad, so no way I would downgrade for more money.
ohno, silky gomboy
Do you have a link that supports you for a ferro rod?
I prefer a curved sawblade, which saws in two directions as well. Does anyone have recommandations for that?
Lost mine, sigh... Unless it is hooked up to a tree branch somewhere...
