He’s still young relatively, but situations like his are why I wish the NBA draft process was similar to baseball has. They allow players to be drafted out of high school but if they decide to go to college they have to wait 3 years before they can be eligible for the draft again. One year if they go to a JUCO. Seems like the best of both worlds to me. The guys that are clearly ready for the next level could come in the league and those that need more seasoning can play college ball.

It's crazy I thought Quickly wasn't going to make it because Hagens was playing the 1 for UK. What saved Quickly was his shot and he showed he can come off the bench and make something happen consistently.
You nailed it. I'm a Knicks fan and had no faith in Quickley, I figured he'd be gone in a year, but he has become a solid player and fixture that helps the Knicks every game.

I’m a Kentucky fan, I live 20 mins away from Lexington. Hagans could have used another year before leaving just my opinion. He has all the talent but his maturity was the problem. Another year here at Kentucky and I think he would be a lottery pick for sure.

First Team All American, Big10 Player of the Year, National Player of the Year. He's the all time leading scorer in Indiana and Big10 history. Then the 6th pick in the draft... just crazy how he never made it in the league. He was unreal
This a quick one. He reclassified back up to go to UK, he initially was supposed to go to UGA. Askew did the same thing and went to UK this year. His game got founded out to be suspect, real quick. I thought at a minimum. His defense and size at the position would give him a look. Appreciate this one. People are really realizing that Cal can't coach or develop guys..

Aaron Craft didn’t really care for ball professionally, he was a gifted student and has a great career in the medical field I believe. He played a few times in the espn tournament and overseas if I remember correct.
Thing about Calipari is he doesn't develop anyone. If the kid doesn't have it when he arrives he won't get it. The good thing about Calipari is he's such a good recruiter that every that the majority of the kids he bring in are NBA ready when they arrive on campus and he still manages to screw a few up.

I think Hagans biggest mistake was leaving college too early. I think he improved dramatically, especially defensively, but never was able to shoot consistently. Another year or two with Calipari could have done wonders for his game. It may have advanced his maturity as well. I think Ashton still has a chance, but really needs to work hard on his shooting. No NBA team wants a point guard that cannot shoot.
I don’t think the school was a mistake because calipari stuck with Ashton through thick and thin, Ashton started every game at Kentucky both years, but then arises the question why didn’t the program help develop him in areas that he was obviously lacking in such as shooting and finishing.

It is sad because these guys all feel they will play in the nba. Look at Brandon Boston, his last game in the sec tourney he scored 0 once again, yet still declared for the nba draft which I thought was a smart move because another horrible year he would have been totally off the radar with the scouts. Guys like Hagans are not humble and unappreciative for these types of opportunities and feel that the world revolves around them because they were once coveted as top nba future players. So with an afflux of players the chances are very dismal and with bad rap and marginal nba talent no team want a guy like him when you have tons more coming every year.
You mention Quade Green not working out as a reason UK is a wrong path, but don’t mention that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the same year as Green and is currently a star in the NBA

His parents held him back a year so he was old for his grade. Happens a lot nowadays some people can be more physically developed and dominate younger competition.. but it catches up to you in the long run most of the time

Number #2 -Hagans should’ve went to UGA over UK. 😂😂 The narrator never watched Hagans play at UK obviously. He was given every opportunity to succeed to the detriment of the team I believe. Didn't cal recruit other guards to take his place? In my opinion ever since Rod Strickland was forced off Cal's staff point guard development has not been as good.

Nothing you said made sense. Everything you mentioned could’ve been easier at a lower expectation level like UGA. Him there as the featured player instead of sharing the light with 3 highly touted guards 100% of the time not to mention other players that made the league didn't give him opportunity, even though like you said, he had opportunity. 35min featured vs 35 min with 4-5 other NBA prospects makes a lot of difference. And no one compared Green to Young trust me. I said he was compared to young. Meaning evaluators did that when he was in high school. I never thought he was that good at all. Did a vid on him too. Never was a fan of his game.

If your not a great point guard it not wise to go to Kentucky. Rose, Evans, Wall was great to the point that cal didn't have to develop then. Cal is a good developer of wing players and big men. If your a good point guard you might want to pass up Kentucky.

Didn't cal recruit other guards to take his place? Those two was lucky(I'm actually happy for them) but do your research on the high profile (point) guards that went there and look where they are at now.
