Excellent info. Mike! First aid kit...should be on the boat which is a given, a socket set, extra fuses, electrical tape, in case of breakdown . P.S.A. - Always tell a family member, friend etc. where you'll be fishing and what time you'll return!!
I think one of the coolest things in fishing is, basically every cast you make is a free lottery ticket than can win you your next PB and thats why I always have a scale on me even if im at a pond throwin a senko. Even for yourself you don't want wonder the rest of your life just how big it was.
Like the video. Fishing in SoCal is a bucket list destination for me for sure, even though I’m on a pretty good lake myself (Chickamauga). Been doing videos myself for a year now. I enjoy helping people too. Keep up the good work.
Nice advices, I once read a study that sayd that fish pierced in the bladder with the needle have 50% possibility of death in the next 24h hours, the best method to releas those gassed fish should be by attaching them to a heavy weight connected to a reverse hook and sendind them to the bottom, then the hook that is placed backwards in the line (obviously without the barb) and behind the gillplate should release the fish and its all fine, the gas with the pressure returne to the initial volume. Hope u understand im not very good with English.
Nice vid and info as always ! I’d like to add a hook sharpener ! how many times did i regret not having one in the moment ! S/o from Germany ! Amazing work !
Instead of a bends mender, have you tried a long string and a weight to get the fish back to the bottom for release? Zero holes put in the fish and released back to the depth it was hooked. Granted you can't see what happens when it gets down there but surely having all gasses throughout the fishes swim bladder, blood stream and all internal organs return to normal pressure in the way nature intended is very desirable. You could even attach a simple clip to your plug knocker that grips the fishes lip, tows them back down to the deep, give it a quick yank and it pops off their lip letting them swim free.
Fishing solo most of the time of of the things I always have with me is fish grips. I feel like it decreases the chances of me getting hooked if the fish decides to shake as I'm trying to get hooks out. Also I know that fish is going nowhere after I clamp her down.
During the summer when the surface temp is in the 80s and the fish are in deeper and cooler water u should keep a block of ice in the live well so u don’t shock the fish
Some extra line-this one is a given but I ran out of 20 pound the other day on my boat and had to fish with a pretty much empty spool for the rest of the day…
Do snaps hurt the fish when they eat a seimbait? Most snaps have that one end that sticks out seems like it could rip up their mouth and if near gill is not good
The hook doesnt go through the gills. It resides in the space between the gill plate and the gills. Is there a better way? Possibly. My personal experience with the grippers is that I used it one time where I heard it crunch something along the jaw line of the bass, I didnt like how it sounded for the fish so I was done and went right back to how i've been weighing them for years with no issue.
Always carry extra batteries and chargers. Nothing worse than catching a giant and phone dies or scale is out of batteries. Oh and to always make sure the phone storage is low. I’ve had videos cut out short and didn’t notice due to low memory storage. Half assed documentation. Lol.
Don't Fizz Fish! just slip a 4 or 5oz Bank Sinker into a bass' stomach...they will sink!... and when they get down to depth they feel better and take off on their own...sinker just slips right out.
Unless u have a LOT of $$$ on the line, WHY put a fish in your livewell? Ok... It's a 14lb er... & ur PB. I get it. But ANY other reason, let em go IMMEDIATELY! We're KILLING the future of our sport guys!! LET EM GO IMMEDIATELY!!
WE UNDERSTAND. We understand that you’re a busy man and appreciate the efforts you’re putting in. But WE NEED more of the UA-cam content. NEED
Best hook cutters are knipex. Cut like butter

Yes. My focus for this video wasn't about general safety equipment or other things that should be on board but its good to mention in the comments.
That last part

Bro, you assume we know these things... I'm a new angler, this is gold! Thank you for making this video Mike!
Have all of that just need a boat 😂 great video as always!! Keep them coming
Loving all the uploads lately
Dikes are great for saving fish eyes for sure
Dope video mike 🔥🤙🏽🤙🏽 knowledge is key thank you for these tips
The term “good documentation” gave me a quick flashback to work. Stressed me out a bit.
🔥🔥100% agree Mike, I believe you didn’t miss anything, you definitely hit the key things 👊👍
Nice to see ya back dude

Excellent video. For me, it’s much easier to fizz 2 scales back from the end tip of the side fin 18gauge needle 3/4 inch deep.
I like to have a hook sharpener on hand if I snag on some rocks, wood etc.
I put a 2 1/2 oz weight in the fish gut on a marker buoy line takes them back to the bottom pull on the line few times out comes the weight..
How about line choice and test for certain sized swimbaits? That’ll be an awesome video 💯

Mike do you use a jaw grabber clamp on your scales out do you use the hook provided? Great video thank you.

🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've been to jail. I'd never keep anything in a box I wasn't going to eat.

I don’t have a plug knocker but you know what I do have I got a snorkel mask😂 I’ve been meaning to a plug knocker tho
Snorkel and short fins.
I heard scales that hook under fish's gills actually hurt them and scales with grips are better for fish health. Is that true??
If you have a fish gripper is better but if not just make sure that the hook is pushing on the gillplate and not on the gills
@UCUoRUUxiGWzmiZ03eVE5AAA ya thats what I meant! I would never put anything in any fish's gills

heres some crazy health advice for bass: dont fish depths causing floaters
Let's fast forward to point where we are talking about putting giant hooks through their lips, cheeks and occasionally eyeballs.
