Def a fantastic video. Very informative, showing all the pertinent tackle and explains everything. Good job. I am a trophy Striper hunter and was looking at the tranx 4 and 500 and some calcuttas but I went with a Daiwa Prorex 400 8.1 for my glide and swim baits. Great small palmable reel with nice capacity and 30 lbs of drag. Smooth as butter. I fish rough fast rivers and under dams in Tennessee and gotta have serious tough tackle, it paired with a 10 ft skeet Reese big swimbait rod. It's a awesome combo for big 12 inch baits. Coastals have wimpy drags with 12 lbs of drag. Not enuff drag. Tranx only have 18 lbs. Prorex 30 lbs. Also...there are plenty of new spinning reels that handle big swimbaits. Like my saragosa 6000, daiwa saltiga dogfight 5000 and the new penn authority or any of the Daiwa Saltist MQ The BGMQ have plenty of line capacity and are super tough for the big glides and swimmers. I have a fenwick hotstik thats perfect for spinning and big glides
Hell yeah I fish for pike and musky up in Canada and use the prorex as well, absolute beast of a reel, I was looking into a tranx 300 tho you like the prorex better?
I love my prorex 400 it's awesome, however I found a great deal on a NIB Tranx 400. I only got it yesterday so will try it this week on the trophy striper quest.
I thought I needed a 300 size, but now realize I really need a 200 size. I'm not throwing anything bigger than 4 oz. Thanks bro, this video helped a lot. The Shimano guys are all but hurt because you left out the Tranx 😂

Abu Garcia for the win. I grew up with shimano and own mostly shimano reels but lately I’ve been very disappointed and unimpressed with shimano especially my tranx 400 which I use for musky fishing and casting very large lures for flathead catfish. My friend is a Abu Garcia fanboy and I used to be a shimano fanboy but he has been proving me wrong with damn near every reel I purchase. Abu is just way more durable, most times for half the price and just as smooth. Everyone of his reels have lasted double the lifetime than any of my shimanos.

@@crazybassfisher this video really helped me. Because you really went in depth on which reels were good for certain baits so. Depending on the person they can choose a reel that fits what they like to fish.I give this vid a 10/10

I know this videos a little old but Im getting into the smaller side of the swimbait game 1 and 1/2 to 4 oz range just scooped the Megabass TB because i do mainly shore fishing ,what is a good reel youd suggest / have you seen the new curado 200 dc
No reason to be honest. It’s such a common one, I wanted to talk about other options. I didn’t talk about the curado 200 either for the same reason. That Tatula 200 is a great reel as well no doubt
I need your help with my 10inch mag draft so I’m trying to tie a stinger hook (decoy quad) but my knot keeps slipping what do I do. I have watched your video on rigging
Anyone know if it's ok to use a Shimano Tekota for 300/400 for swimbaits ? Specs are very similar to Shimano TranX and I've read that they cast very well. Please reply.
would a 100 size reel ok for "pitching" swimbait in the 2oz range? at the moment i am looking at the calcutta conquest DC 19/20 and the calcutta conquest 21.
Hey thanks for your video, a lot of informations and nice reels!! What do you think about Abu Garcia ambassadeur C3 and c4 those are also great reels on the market and not to expensive, what do you think about those reels?
Note sure if my opinion counts but abu stuff isn't built as well as the diawa and shimano stuff. This coming from a guy that musky fishes a lot and throws big baits.
what size reel should i get if im throwing 2-6 oz baits? u said 300 is good for 4-6oz but will it do fine at lower weights too? im looking to get my first swimbait setup and i think im goin with the tatula elite 8' swimbait heavy moderate for hard baits with treble hooks and need to find a reel now to pair with it.
I’m going to fish mostly 6 ounces and below for my swimbaits. For now at least… So I’m thinking the Diawa Z 2020 in that 300-ish size would be cool. 20-25 pound test? Do you have any Rod suggestions? I’ll probably throw some of the DEPS side swimmers but I also have the Bullshooter And some Jackall Gantarel’s which I’ve come to love
That has to be one of the best reel guide videos i have seen to date on choosing a swimbait reel! Thank you! You just saved me slot of money.

I know this videos a little old but Im getting into the smaller side of the swimbait game 1 and 1/2 to 4 oz range just scooped the Megabass TB because i do mainly shore fishing ,what is a good reel youd suggest / have you seen the new curado 200 dc
Got the curado 300, what pound line do I need for the 8 inch huddelstons???
150 slx dc with a river2sea s waiver yes or no
You kept referring to the Daiwa tatula 200 but don't recommend it, why?
No reason to be honest. It’s such a common one, I wanted to talk about other options. I didn’t talk about the curado 200 either for the same reason. That Tatula 200 is a great reel as well no doubt
z2020 classified as Size 200 reel due to the shallower spool and wider spool
Thanks, that helps
I need your help with my 10inch mag draft so I’m trying to tie a stinger hook (decoy quad) but my knot keeps slipping what do I do. I have watched your video on rigging
Great video
Anyone know if it's ok to use a Shimano Tekota for 300/400 for swimbaits ? Specs are very similar to Shimano TranX and I've read that they cast very well. Please reply.
Great video you should go thru rods be awesome to pick your brain about rods too fishing from the boat and bank
I’ll try and get a rod video up sometime soon for sure!
@@crazybassfisher can't wait be nice to hear someone who know the struggle of trying to cast a long rod around trees
would a 100 size reel ok for "pitching" swimbait in the 2oz range? at the moment i am looking at the calcutta conquest DC 19/20 and the calcutta conquest 21.
How about the gold shamano 200 gt b
The Calcutta 200’s are great reels, I just rarely ever see them in shops or online though!
Just got a zillion hd what rod do u recommend under 200?
Hey thanks for your video, a lot of informations and nice reels!! What do you think about Abu Garcia ambassadeur C3 and c4 those are also great reels on the market and not to expensive, what do you think about those reels?
Note sure if my opinion counts but abu stuff isn't built as well as the diawa and shimano stuff. This coming from a guy that musky fishes a lot and throws big baits.
You’re gonna pull out that Z2020 and not mention the Scorpion MD 300. Not Z2020 fancy but still fancy. And no Calcutta DC?
Just got mb warhammer and 200 tatula for 2oz and less
That setup is gonna work wonders for you dude!
what size reel should i get if im throwing 2-6 oz baits? u said 300 is good for 4-6oz but will it do fine at lower weights too? im looking to get my first swimbait setup and i think im goin with the tatula elite 8' swimbait heavy moderate for hard baits with treble hooks and need to find a reel now to pair with it.
300 is perfect for those sizes...go for it.
What’s your opinion on the new scorpion MD?
🔥 I own 2. Look on digitaka right now, pretty cheap!
@@reelfunnyfishing651 I have one now, I’ve had it for 9 months now and love it.
First that come to my mind is Megabass Baccarat, that rod is able to launch 6 oz baits with full swing
Can I use a spinning reel? Casting reels are too expensive for me right now 😔
What real do you think would best pair with Deps 250 of all the 300 size you reviewed
I love my Z2020, I think it’s the best, but if that’s out of the budget, getting the Tatula would be the other great option
