Just caught a 5,7 and 10lb bass Saturday. The 10lb bass I caught on an 8in savage gear line through trout. Other two on the strike king megadog. Double digits are rare for here in east ky but I catch them every April for the last eight or so years. I never see anyone else around here using big swimbaits so they get really fired up when I throw them. Even if they won't bite it they'll follow it and then I'll get them to bite a seven inch fluke or walking bait. I love the spawn.
@@geoffreythekingfishing what would you recommend as the max thickest FC line for throwing the Klash or the Ghost? I go from time to fishing with my wife for big pikes and I am a bit afraid that she will lose one of my baits - I am not saying that this could not happen to me as well :).
Owner now make an 8/0 with both 1/2 and 3/4 oz beast hook, I use on the citizen. The 3/4 looks like it won't work but it does. You can fish a citizen 15-20 ft with the 3/4. Pretty cool deal
Buddy lost a huge fish on the st36, bent out two of the three hooks on his swimbait. We swapped all of our 36's out for the 41 after that. lol. Have you tried the tactical Angler's clip? I've been doing well with those, the 25lb rated clip, held up well on a DD and a few carp.
I used tungsten putty once and never again... it's messy AF. You can do the same thing with rubber core lead sinkers (remove the rubber core, just use the lead), pliers, and a hammer to shape it any way you want or need. I'm definitely going to get a couple sizes of the STY35MF hooks to check out, had my eye on them for a minute. If they're good enough for Purcell, they're good enough for me.
Yea the rubber core sinkers are way easier. And they come in any size you need. And they're cheap. Only thing I use tungsten for is Texas rig baits when I'm in ultra clear water and want to make it as finesse as possible. Other than that I use lead.
Do you know of can you do a vid on, how fast a 6 " freestyle sinks, feet per second, so u can count it down, owner beast rigged, popular sizes, also stock 8" magdraft, they used to say a sinking lure like a 1/2 oz rattletrap would sink 1 foot a second
Have you tried making your own weighted hooks? I run quads on most of my baits but they tend to change sink rate of most baits. I started making assist hooks and wrapping golfers lead tape in with the assist line. and than sealing it in with UV resin.
outstanding information as always! I would like your opinion on split rings vs. tying hooks via assist with kevlar or cord; also have you experimented with twin hooks like I see in some Japanese videos? I also think that rather than adding the weight to your line ties it works great to add that weight to the tail end...that creates more side to side action without interfering with the hook.
Well, I’ve used both split rings and pe assist line and honestly, both work great. The assist line is more natural and less flashy as a split ring. You get better twist with the assist line than just a normal split ring as well. The only down side to assist line is that it can be a pain in the ass to make and change out frequently. With the weight, you can definitely add weight anywhere for sure
I have tried twin hooks before and hated them. I felt that the hook up ratio was bad with them actually. But if you got one pinned on it, it wasn’t coming off
U should check out the owner ultras. I run the size 5 on everything, from my rm negotiatior to the hinkle trout, strongest ring on the market. So strong ur gonna need to buy a beefier set of split ring pliers to open them up
Best overall swimbait reel? Been thinking about getting a Calcutta forever!!! Im in Texas btw won't be throwing giant trout lol not sure if that matters 🤷♀️
I use the Abu Garcia max Toro. It's $150 but if you search on eBay you can get deals. They're solid swimbait reels. 25Lbs of drag. Way more power than any shimano even the tranx. Or if you want to spend more you can get the revo toro beast. It's the best of the best but I've caught everything on my max toro and it does great. Just caught a 5,7 and 10lb bass Saturday. But it'll also handle giant stripers and musky.
Just as an experiment if you ever come across a bedding female you can't get to bite no matter what you throw that's when the trout lures work their magic. Huge bass will never turn down a rainbow trout. Never. That's if you make it look realistic.
Awesome , thanks for info/suggestions - Ever try Norman brand "magnum Clips" ? I trust them over egg clips (never had one fail , just because Normans construction and design LOOKS so much better).......... :) Thanks for showin n sharin bro!
I def mess with the decoy quad hooks an also the ryugi quad hooks an also wish they made larger sizes for striper lures but still a good hook because u have a higher hook ratio but if u want a strong hook the owner stinger 3x hooks are really great an strong an u cant go wrong with the decoy snaps there snaps are such good quality an its all I use for my cranks an jerk baits an some for swim baits.
This was super helpful my dude. Your content is always very informative and gets me so stoked on swimbait fishing. 🤙
Great video. On the owner sty-35mf on a bait like the Klash 9 do you go with a 1/0 like the stock hooks or do you upsize to 2/0?
Yeah, how do you talk about hooks and not recommend a particular size? Duhh?
Perfect timed video I needed this
Thanks for watching big dog!

Owners pretty much hands down! Good vid
Thx Bro! Love your videos! How many bass did you catch already on your DRT’s? They look really bad :)). Greetings from Germany
Haha I’ve caught a lot of fish on my Klash baits. Definitely one of my favorite swimbaits of all time!

Hello, I am a beginner. Can I ask you a question? Can you tell me how to choose the jighead weight?
Do you use snaps on your rats lures? If so what brand and size? Like the PB Rat.
What size decoy quad hook would you use for k9?

how sensitive are the DRT baits to extra weight. grate vid
Would you recommended 20lb Izorline XXX for a 300 size reel?
Question ab the weights. What’s the differance in the grenade weights on the back of the klash vs just using the board weight in the back?
Mostly space. Sometimes you just don’t have enough room to fit the full size 2gram weight so the grenade weight can be used instead

I’ve never quite understood the weighted hook thing. I would just rather weight the actual bait instead but if it works, that’s awesome too.
Great Info I use all owner hooks and rings but decoy snaps I like the st 41 hooks Great Video!!! Cheers!! :))
I absolutely hate those 41’s. All it took was one day to completely hate those hooks haha. But it did seem that if you hooked one, it was hooked good
@@geoffreythekingfishing i hear a lot of people do I love them Cheers

@@geoffreythekingfishing thank you I'm definitely going to try the ST-35's - I really like the 36's so can't go wrong!
Can someone please make a “truck nuts” weight mold for the grenade weight idea? Please!
Fishing for bass or yellowfin tuna?lol killer set of swimbsits, looks like surface irons

I’ll have to check those out my dude! They sound perfect!
That shirt is dope!
Isn’t it? It’s so sick haha

And huge trout swimbaits will catch bass anywhere even if you don't have trout.

I actually haven’t tried out the Norman ones, I’ll have to check them out and see!
Ok, good tips, but if you retie your knot, why would you use a snap in the first place?
Would love to see you fish with Oliver Ngy.
I hope I can meet you on the water someday im going out to rose this weekend throwing some bigger baits
There you go dude! Rosy has been hot lately so you should be able to fool a big girl out there!

Great info -- Thanks!
Do a video on your electronics. Is that a helix 9 in background?
I have a helix 7 actually, I just bought it and have only used it like 3 times haha
Owner ST56 ftw
Sick tips!!!
