I didn't know about the secret tunel in my first playthrough, so I did the same thing. Luckily I was a Warlock so persuasion checks were easy since I Shadowheart's Guidance, but I got a nat 1 on the last one and didn't have inspiration to reroll it, leading to aggroing a lot of the grove since of course I got caught in the middle of it. Sazza died in the fight before I could have a chance to save her and I never got to see her interaction with Minthara, or that there even was one 😅 I could have save scummed to before rescuing her I suppose, but I'd saved a bit before that point, and it'd taken me a lot of sneaking and turn based mode shenaggigans to get that far and didn't want to do it again so after she died I just fled combat. Nowadays I just use that tunnel to save her easily; sometimes I've cleared out the goblins waiting in there and disabled the traps to make it easier, but most times I do it while I have her with me.
@@erininsoup My first plan was buying from Aunty Ethel an invisibility potion, so i could turn Sazza invisible - except she already left to her hut, and while i searched for the way towards the hut i found the secret tunnel, where i could bring Sazza out safely. The goblins at the camp are easier to deal with, if you are either a Drow, or can Disguise Self yourself into one. They have a strict order to be respectful toward Drows. It helps a lot, if you has some basic knowledge about Drow culture - they are matriarchal, so being a male Drow doesn't give as much advantage, than being a female one. Just do not forget to change your disguise when you are not among them - there is no sane race, who would trust a Drow... Also, if you wish to kill Sazza personally without consequences, you need to CLOSE THE DOOR. Then the guard doesn't see, what are you doing there.
normally nettie gives you the apple and mugwort pouch anyway in thanks, but it was really cool to see they add the antidote to the pouch if she managed to successfully poison you!
Oooh, I was actually wondering if she still gave you the apple normally - somehow on my regular playthroughs I've never gone back and talked to her after rescuing Halsin!

The game REALLY wants Zevlor to survive that goblin fight, and also REALLY wants you to be able to interact with the tieflings, so if you kill him during that encounter (You won't get in trouble), it can break some stuff. Aradin for example, ran to the top of the hill in my game with his buddies after the goblins died and got stuck there with no dialogue.
i prefer to play a good guy in rpgs because it makes me actually uncomfortable being evil. i appreciate videos like these where it's all played for laughs. i can experience other parts of the game without having to be uneasy about it
You can skip the gobbling fight cutscene at the Druid gate at the beginning if you enhance leap jump somewhere BUT the game will still treat you as if you still helped fight the goblins off at the beginning but there will be no dead bodies for you to loot outside the gate. Kanin is still dead and you’re still a hero of the grove.
I should truly use enhanced leap more often - I guess maybe this would be a fun route to go if you wanted to be a character (probably a bard) who loved bragging about their accomplishments and being praised as a hero but was a coward at their core
@@erininsoup The problem is, bards don't get to learn Enhance Leap. You need to be a sorcerer, a druid or a wizard to get it on level 1, rangers can get it on level 2.

This is probably it! I thought I had been in stealth mode out of vision a couple other times that I tried it out, but I went around the other side of the clearing so maybe the rock kept me partially obscured?
Did you know you can befriend those spiders and have them fight on your side? They won't attack you after that. It's too bad though that they don't seem to be very strong once outside their case.
You can get Zevlor to jump down during the grove entrance fight, where he will use his smites too. You have to be a druid that wildshapes into a spider to set up a webbed surface. I have a video on my channel if you're curious.
Oh that's sick!! Interesting that he'll only do it with a webbed surface...I wonder if there's any other way to get him down, or what would happen if you got up from behind him and shoved him down haha
The AI does a lot of surprisingly smart things in this game. One of my favorite moments was a group of enemies trapping me on the stairs with a Steel Watch on the stairs leading to a cloud kill on my entire party with two enemies on the stairs preventing me from escaping. Really forced me to search through everyone's spells and look at the environment to find a solution to prevent a TPK. Luckily got out of it with a dimension door scroll and some fortunately placed explosive barrels.
I have the habit of before I leave discarding Nettie's poison back on the table in front of her after accepting it. I never thought she would do anything but this was more just my own personal "Screw this shit" approach. lol
I would love a Definitive Edition (but even if the game was 100 percent polished everywhere, I'd still crave more 🥺). From what I've heard, I don't think we'll get one - but I'm super psyched for the Evil Endings patch.
That be great, a Definitive Edtion. However, I agree with others I doubt it will happen sadly. Really feels as if they are building to a wrap-up of sorts. Once they finish up with all the mod-related stuff that seems to be happening in the coming months.
I dont know what it is about Sazza, she wants all the good people dead, she tries to betray you when you bring her to Minthara, but i still want to save her for some reason. I dont know, there is just something about Sazza that is endearing in a weird way.
So true - it's just something about her tone of voice, and the way she rolls her eyes at you when you're naive but just saved her life. Sazza romance WHEN Larian?!
as for Saza Experiment, as in killing guard who'd push her and attacking Minthara while talking: it works. She didn't talk to me afterwards, but still appeared at the Moonrise.
Question What if you free sazza take her into the cave. Then have your separate party members raid the grove. Then with sazza in the party head back to minthara
Use the Wyvern poison on the Hag in her house, and she doesn't turn invisible, which means you can kill her before she escapes to her lair. That means all her victims (or at least as many as possible) will survive and can be spoken to.
Your videos are so under appreciated! I love that you took the time to answer all the questions I have but are to lazy to seek the answers for! It makes me appreciate BG3 even more. And btw, production, video and VoiceOver quality are far above what a channel of your size normally has. Keep up the great work!

yeah, sneaking around that first fight is a thing i wanna do too - really weird they haven't thought of that... got the same as you, sneaking out of the fight, nobody ever saw me... everyone died... and still got greeted as a hero inside the grove...

Ooooh good question!! You can open the gate in the fight, but when I've done this no one acknowledges it - either during or after the fight. I honestly don't know if the goblins can win the battle, since when we flee the Grove still wins, so they don't necessarily still need my party. Buuuuut...maybe if my party started 'accidentally' wounding allies, that could tip the scales. I'll have to give that a try!
What you should have Tried was to get past the fight OUTSIDE the druid grove then Run straight to Minthara to tell where the Grove is and THEN See if the battle is still going on outside
I finished it eventually lmao. Maybe I missed something, because I’ve never gone to Minthara with Sazza, but why does Minthara get angry that she brought us to her? Just because we’re a True Soul? What’s so bad about that?
Just now seeing this sorry, but good question! I think it's because Sazza intends to betray us (she says something like let's reward them with a good poke I believe) and Minthara can't have that. But perhaps it's just because poor Sazza didn't manage to murder the Grove and capture the artifact either way Minthara remains equal parts scary and mesmerizing to me haha @GabbyPlaysGames02
FYI - if you loot the gnome that is laying in that cave with the goblins (the first cave near the grove fight), they have a headpiece that allows you to sneak into the other entrance in the grove right in that very cave. (not the door going to the prison to Sazza.) You'll know you went into the correct place because the room has basically unbeatable poison traps you can just walk around. To kill Sazza quickly before she heals, turn on Turn-Based mode and you should have enough time to kill her.
23:30 this literally happened to me on my first play through in balanced. I was in such a state of shock, I sat there and stared at my screen for a solid 20 seconds
really nice video, one tip that may help you with further testing, when you grab a character to go somewhere with them, you can cancel which stops your character on the spot and they gently drop the character you were holding. and combining that with a teleportation to a waypoint you can grab anyone and bring them anywhere you want.
Ooooh thank you so much for the tip! Another commenter let me know that you had to cancel the action, but I didn't know it still works when paired with a waypoint teleport - definitely have to try out some shenanigans
Oh, I actually tried directly go away after get involved the druid fight since I thought playing as Lae'zel won't bother in fight like this (I realized maybe not like this afterward though), I have zero involvement in the battle but after go into the grove for accidental encountered Karlach, I still regarded as saved the Tieflings.
Funny enough, I also killed all the goblins but Sazza, but I did so in the comversation with Minthara. I brought Sazza to Minthara, talked her down from executing Sazza, then triggered the encounter. Nonlethally taking down Sazza and Minthara led to the next day Sazza appearing near Gut's area in the middle of the hide out, thanking me for bailing her out from Minthara like she normally would. Sazza even appeared in Moonrise, the next act!
The map is designed to funnel you into that first goblin encounter and the trigger is big enough to cover all paths leading towards it. Even though a couple of the paths are far enough back that you would not know the gate was there if you pass through them correctly.
The reason why probably she is temporarily hostile is because there's an achievement to save her up until the Moonlight Towers and maybe considering that, you just not really meant to kill her

I'm surprised you needed to buy a speak to the dead scroll. Every time I restarted BG3, I get to Wither's temple before the grove and there's an amulet to cast speak with the dead/recast speak with the dead infinite amount of times.
I have found that amulet before, but I beelined straight to the Grove for these experiments. Although I am ashamed to admit during my first two playthroughs I went into the crypt, pressed the button that unlocks the doors to Withers, but somehow never opened the sarcophagus?! 😭
I managed to go from the grove straight to Karlach recruitment point by jumping from Lakrissa's place to the High Road. I wonder if one can do this the other way around? Perhaps by going solo, specking into thief rogue, using a scroll of flight and dashing three times. Perhaps you could get into the grove this way even if it gets locked down.
I just found out that you can see Karlach from that point earlier this week, during some different experiments! I was so shocked that I had never gone that route before - but that's a great suggestion 💛
I did this at the grove a long time ago because I wasn't in the mood to do that fight. I managed to avoid fighting my first try at this. What I did was have everyone hide and moved them one at a time towards the hidden door. The fight scene does start, but I wasn't locked into the cinematic. Also, I was far enough from the battle that being part of the initiative wasn't a problem. Not a single goblin attacked me and I snuck in the back way. After clearing the caverns I came to the jail and freed the female goblin and led her back out through the now empty cave. Once she left I went around to the main entrance again, the fight was over, the goblins dead and all the good guys alive inside. There was no confrontation with the tiefling leader and mercenary either because they were no longer on the path inside. They had gone to their 'after confrontation' places. Edit: I disabled all the traps behind Nettie's secret door when I first cleared the cave. I didn't know how to open it though. Now I know.
Oooooh, cool that you got everyone to sneak past initiative! The only time that happened to me was the time where we were hidden by a rock or something but still too close to the battle. But the Zevlor and Aradin moving positions thing also happened to me - it's kind of nice in a way because I have had to watch their pre-fight dialogue too many times to remain sane
There is a random chance the battle goes either way when you flee combat. Each time you do anything pretty much, its RNG that determines the outcome, AKA a dice roll. Aradin might be alive in one playthrough, dead in another. Can you leap up the rocks to sneak past the fight AND grove? Yes. Use use enhanced leap, elixir of glorious vaulting, or anything similar (flying pots, etc., going invisible and running that one invisible character past the battle area, and so on). Then you just bypass the fight and go on your happy way. The fight will wait for ya and the scene will trigger when you finally get by.
I love you videos :) Not sure if you're aware, but if you use improvised melee weapon you can target a creature and throw them on the ground far from you, you can cancel the action (using right click) mid-walk, which basically lets you move npcs around. Additionally, I know this'll take a lot more time, but I wonder what'll happen if you recruit Halsin in act two then go back to talk with Nettie as Halsin? Looking forward to more videos :)

And oooh, good suggestion - I'll definitely try that out, but I think by the time you can recruit Halsin in Act II he refuses to go back to Act 1 (?), but there might be some ways to get around that.
If you enter Act 1 after Halsin and/or Minthara become playable party members, then they just won't be available and you'll get their inventory packed into backpacks and sent to your own inventory. You can't play them or send items to them from Act 1 but they'll function normally again once you re-enter Act 2. Source: me traveling back between the 2 acts to get stuff I missed. IDK if people have found some weird strat that otherwise makes it possible tho
I will note that a round is 6 seconds. So I'm shocked that you were able to distort time by fighting those goblins in the cave, talk to people and steal the gloves from zevlor in 6 seconds before helping lae'zel!
It should also be noted that this is also somewhat of a double-edged sword. Either passing the checks or using a Drow disguise will reward exp for passing the area via checks, but Sazza doing the work for you results in no exp (interestingly, it makes sense since Sazza is denying the party any persuasion/combat experience they'd develop via doing it themselves). Saving Sazza is safer, but also comes with a bit of a penalty for how safe she makes goblin camp contact.
Oh that's cool that using a drow disguise still gets you the XP. I played as a drow in my third run, but I don't remember if I got any experience from just using my drow-ness to force my way through

If you fast travel while midway through carrying an npc as part of using them as an improvised weapon they will teleport with you. You can also just cancel the attack after carrying them as long as you do it just before reaching the location you clicked to attack and it will drop them at the location you cancelled at. The best part is that neither of these count as you attacking that character too.
Whoah, I'm editing a druid experiment video right now where I tried to drag Arabella's dead body over to her parents but I couldn't get it to work (I got stuck by the door) but the waypoint could help with that! For some reason, I kept leaving her behind - is it not enough to click on an NPC using improvised weapon? Or do you have to click on them, then click on a different point on the map, and before you throw them down hurry and click the waypoint?
@@erininsoup You have to click them, click a point (preferably far away to give you as much time as possible) to throw them on the ground at and then quickly fast travel while your character is making their way to the point you clicked to throw them down at after having visibly picked up the NPC. I've never tried it on dead bodies though so I'm not sure what happens then.
@@erininsoup There's a video titled "Gortash would never have imagined that we could do this | Baldur's Gate 3" that demonstrates it pretty nicely. It was done on an older patch but I've still been able to do it on the current one.
Hmmm so you can't actually drink it you can only coat it to use as a weapon (unless you're poisoning the goblin camp) but she doesn't react if you do it off-screen, but thanks to you I just learned that if you spark a conversation with Nettie inside her office but kill Tav before Nettie says anything, then resurrect Tav and talk to Nettie again, she'll act as if she poisoned you even when you're fine. She also has two lines I've never heard her say in the other versions, and Gale wanted to speak to me after.
As an FYI I do not believe that jumping up the cliff would have worked to avoid the fight even if it was possible, I summoned a bird and had it fly up the cliff and that also triggered the fight, so the trigger is way bigger than you would think
i love experimenting in the game... i like finding backside entrances so much... a shame you can't just jump from the cliffs by the waypoint into the grove to avoid the fight... ever so proud finding one before having seen a video about it... i like flying on the roofs and slipping in through balconies in the city... (Philgrave, Steelwatch) what i had to play around with the camera to find the right ancles to get where i wanted to.... as i rarely play as gaseos form or little animal but more with flying ability... and just shadow step through walls... it was such a find that made me so happy - that you can play things you just see and are not highlighted in the game... so proud of finding that you can shadowstep through holes in walls... like into the arcane tower cellar or outer entrence of the Orin dungeon... at the time i know 3 ways into the cellar of arcane tower and lets says 4-5 ways into the Orin dungeon first door... (being assissin and bring hands, deliver any dead body, the body there, any blood sacryfice just being bloodied, and shadowstep into the chamber above) just a shame i didn't find a way around the inner door till now... and so surprised as i lately played a druid and found out the statues in the grove don't attack me if i transform into a wolf... and still allways hard for me to get that bear of the elevator from above.. the fishes i throw just disapear instead of luring him away... only found that mage hand works till now...

@@erininsoup yeah was proud of that find... didn't know how to open the first Orin door, then saw the crack in the wall and the box in front of it... thought that must be some hint... moved the box so that when i stepped up i had an imaginary line of sight onto the dark floor in that upper room... and voila - it worked... - arcane tower just a few steps up, and on can step through the crack in the wall behind the oven... no need to learn poems 😄 so impressed by the game that you can play without shift or strg or anything the mouse can hover, but only with your eyes and brain...
@@erininsoup Yeah he did 😭. He tried to attack a different goblin and took like 3 opportunity attacks. I think that character was cursed cause then two of her allies proceeded to die in the Harpy fight.
Random idea, after killing Sazza, Arka (crossbow tiefling) decides to go solo the goblins by herself, but doesn't get past the goblins in the first area, the one where they try to ambush you. What if you were to kill all the goblins in that area before letting her kill Sazza, then going back, see her kill Sazza, and head back to that goblin place? Would she still be dead?

The next place Sazza will wait is in the front hall arguing with the entry guards lol Got a bit confused myself 27:00 only 1 jailor now, throw him into the pit before he can push Sazza? 29:40 LOL, attack button EXTREMELY bugged there considering using the dialogue option to attack him, only he agros and no else finds out
I really do need to go back and just push that one lone guard into the pit! And haha, good to know that Findel triggering the Grove fight was likely a bug - I just thought Kagha had eyes everywhere 😂
You did not enter combat in the grove because you were hidden from sight. Characters who start a combat sequence while hidden will not enter combat themselves.
You missed one w/ Sazza... you almost had it too. After you get her sent to the spiders you *can* save her before she's thrown into the pit, and only have to deal with the two guards there. This will give a new conversation w/Sazza (and I believe an achievement... something about saving Sazza again, and again). She rewards you with her loot (no unaliving her necessary) thanks you and then leaves... sadly I do *not* know if she reappears later if you successfully save her as I'm still in act 1 on that run and it took me 5 attempts to save her (the guards tend to focus on shoving her off, so you pretty much have to go first in combat and take them both out quickly)
Ooooooh thank you for detailing what happens for me!! I can't believe I gave up on that one after accidentally killing lil Sazz with the cloud of daggers. I wonder if the loot she gives you is the same one you get if you intervene on her behalf with Minthara. Either way, super cool there's an achievement for that route!!

I always save sazza 3x in the run, it's quite challenging and not something I'd bother in honor mode if I'd ever play but it always feels rewarding. I don't know, I adore Sazza. I wish she appears act 3 again. in my recent play I found a way to avoid grove fight and went to get karlach instead Upon return I realise no fight ever broke loose, there were no pouches of dead villains or heroes. No blood trails.....nothing! Which also means missing out on gloves of power. Of course Wyll was sneaking in my camp to surprise Karlach so he wasn't around............ only thing that did happen was zevlor+aradin. but from outside if a new player would accidentally take this route they'd have no idea what happened/a fight ever occured.
If you don't stop Arka from killing Sazza, when she leaves, you can find her dead body on a cliff across the chasm with view to the temple where the goblins are having their party, after Blighted Village. So stopping her rage saves her life. :) If you "gatekeep" Sazza with Minthara, she gives us a cool magic knife, so if you are hunting items you can't get other way, that's a plus. :) Finally, Netty is a stupid druid, so I find it's better to just kill her and get the magical diadem (Nature+1) she carries, that is also the key to the doors in that room. You can barter with her for both the Elixir of SIlvanus and the poison when you are talking to her in the previous room.
Love the idea - I don't think you could leave act 1 based on some experiments I did with Gale (your party has to be ready) but it'd be fun to try and see how far you could go. I did a little something similar in my next video with the druids!
Imagine if Kannon just opened the dang gate while there were no goblins in sight instead of arguing about protocol during what was obviously an emergency. Zevlor and Aradin got heated but the biggest one at fault was Kannon. Zevlor gets there late and is in shock before doing what Aradin said from the start and Halsin was the one who volunteered to go with the mercs on his own knowing the risks
Okay, maybe I just took the easiest way, but I saved Sazza a third time and the Journal said something about she now owes me big time? However, I'm not even close to Act II yet, so I don't know if rescuing her will have any consequences.

I basically sided with Sazza and knocked Minthara unconscious (which I am really interested on if that worked) and then saved her from the goblin that wanted to throw her down to the spiders. Then she thanked me and ran away. I would REALLY like to see her anywhere in Act II or III, that would be so cool. :D

The game REALLY wants Zevlor to survive that goblin fight, and also REALLY wants you to be able to interact with the tieflings, so if you kill him during that encounter (You won't get in trouble), it can break some stuff. Aradin for example, ran to the top of the hill in my game with his buddies after the goblins died and got stuck there with no dialogue.

You can skip the gobbling fight cutscene at the Druid gate at the beginning if you enhance leap jump somewhere BUT the game will still treat you as if you still helped fight the goblins off at the beginning but there will be no dead bodies for you to loot outside the gate. Kanin is still dead and you’re still a hero of the grove.
I should truly use enhanced leap more often - I guess maybe this would be a fun route to go if you wanted to be a character (probably a bard) who loved bragging about their accomplishments and being praised as a hero but was a coward at their core
@@erininsoup The problem is, bards don't get to learn Enhance Leap. You need to be a sorcerer, a druid or a wizard to get it on level 1, rangers can get it on level 2.

This is probably it! I thought I had been in stealth mode out of vision a couple other times that I tried it out, but I went around the other side of the clearing so maybe the rock kept me partially obscured?

They won't attack you after that.
It's too bad though that they don't seem to be very strong once outside their case.
Yes I love befriending the spiders!! I use them a lot off-screen when I need to take down the goblin prison but don't want to do alllll the hard work

You can get Zevlor to jump down during the grove entrance fight, where he will use his smites too. You have to be a druid that wildshapes into a spider to set up a webbed surface. I have a video on my channel if you're curious.

The AI does a lot of surprisingly smart things in this game. One of my favorite moments was a group of enemies trapping me on the stairs with a Steel Watch on the stairs leading to a cloud kill on my entire party with two enemies on the stairs preventing me from escaping. Really forced me to search through everyone's spells and look at the environment to find a solution to prevent a TPK. Luckily got out of it with a dimension door scroll and some fortunately placed explosive barrels.
He randomly jumps down at certain spots where he doesn't take damage too.

Use the Wyvern poison on the Hag in her house, and she doesn't turn invisible, which means you can kill her before she escapes to her lair. That means all her victims (or at least as many as possible) will survive and can be spoken to.

Ooooh good question!! You can open the gate in the fight, but when I've done this no one acknowledges it - either during or after the fight. I honestly don't know if the goblins can win the battle, since when we flee the Grove still wins, so they don't necessarily still need my party. Buuuuut...maybe if my party started 'accidentally' wounding allies, that could tip the scales. I'll have to give that a try!

What you should have Tried was to get past the fight OUTSIDE the druid grove then Run straight to Minthara to tell where the Grove is and THEN See if the battle is still going on outside

I have had people tell me that Minthara has a spider web tattoo on her neck, but that is clearly the prism.
FYI - if you loot the gnome that is laying in that cave with the goblins (the first cave near the grove fight), they have a headpiece that allows you to sneak into the other entrance in the grove right in that very cave. (not the door going to the prison to Sazza.)
You'll know you went into the correct place because the room has basically unbeatable poison traps you can just walk around.
To kill Sazza quickly before she heals, turn on Turn-Based mode and you should have enough time to kill her.
23:30 this literally happened to me on my first play through in balanced. I was in such a state of shock, I sat there and stared at my screen for a solid 20 seconds
You can also revivify companions, if you kill them before they join you. As happened to Astarion after he threatened me when we first met.

I see a lot of people use the jump spell to avoid cutscenes
really nice video, one tip that may help you with further testing, when you grab a character to go somewhere with them, you can cancel which stops your character on the spot and they gently drop the character you were holding. and combining that with a teleportation to a waypoint you can grab anyone and bring them anywhere you want.

Oh, I actually tried directly go away after get involved the druid fight since I thought playing as Lae'zel won't bother in fight like this (I realized maybe not like this afterward though), I have zero involvement in the battle but after go into the grove for accidental encountered Karlach, I still regarded as saved the Tieflings.
Oh and definitely love these small idea vids. Bg3 has a ton of small shit, insanity to try and find em all ourselves
Funny enough, I also killed all the goblins but Sazza, but I did so in the comversation with Minthara.
I brought Sazza to Minthara, talked her down from executing Sazza, then triggered the encounter. Nonlethally taking down Sazza and Minthara led to the next day Sazza appearing near Gut's area in the middle of the hide out, thanking me for bailing her out from Minthara like she normally would.
Sazza even appeared in Moonrise, the next act!
Seeing you use speak to the dead on Aradin made me wonder about using speak to the dead on Wyll before you revived him
The map is designed to funnel you into that first goblin encounter and the trigger is big enough to cover all paths leading towards it. Even though a couple of the paths are far enough back that you would not know the gate was there if you pass through them correctly.
People used Enhanced Leap to skip the Goblin fight. But it was in earlier versions of the game. I don't know if it still works :P
The reason why probably she is temporarily hostile is because there's an achievement to save her up until the Moonlight Towers and maybe considering that, you just not really meant to kill her

I'm surprised you needed to buy a speak to the dead scroll. Every time I restarted BG3, I get to Wither's temple before the grove and there's an amulet to cast speak with the dead/recast speak with the dead infinite amount of times.
I have found that amulet before, but I beelined straight to the Grove for these experiments. Although I am ashamed to admit during my first two playthroughs I went into the crypt, pressed the button that unlocks the doors to Withers, but somehow never opened the sarcophagus?! 😭
I managed to go from the grove straight to Karlach recruitment point by jumping from Lakrissa's place to the High Road.
I wonder if one can do this the other way around? Perhaps by going solo, specking into thief rogue, using a scroll of flight and dashing three times.
Perhaps you could get into the grove this way even if it gets locked down.
I just found out that you can see Karlach from that point earlier this week, during some different experiments! I was so shocked that I had never gone that route before - but that's a great suggestion 💛

I did this at the grove a long time ago because I wasn't in the mood to do that fight. I managed to avoid fighting my first try at this.
What I did was have everyone hide and moved them one at a time towards the hidden door. The fight scene does start, but I wasn't locked into the cinematic. Also, I was far enough from the battle that being part of the initiative wasn't a problem. Not a single goblin attacked me and I snuck in the back way.
After clearing the caverns I came to the jail and freed the female goblin and led her back out through the now empty cave.
Once she left I went around to the main entrance again, the fight was over, the goblins dead and all the good guys alive inside. There was no confrontation with the tiefling leader and mercenary either because they were no longer on the path inside. They had gone to their 'after confrontation' places.
Edit: I disabled all the traps behind Nettie's secret door when I first cleared the cave. I didn't know how to open it though. Now I know.
Oooooh, cool that you got everyone to sneak past initiative! The only time that happened to me was the time where we were hidden by a rock or something but still too close to the battle. But the Zevlor and Aradin moving positions thing also happened to me - it's kind of nice in a way because I have had to watch their pre-fight dialogue too many times to remain sane

If you pick a high strength character with enhanced leap, there is a way to get past the grove without the fight triggering.
There is a random chance the battle goes either way when you flee combat. Each time you do anything pretty much, its RNG that determines the outcome, AKA a dice roll. Aradin might be alive in one playthrough, dead in another.
Can you leap up the rocks to sneak past the fight AND grove? Yes. Use use enhanced leap, elixir of glorious vaulting, or anything similar (flying pots, etc., going invisible and running that one invisible character past the battle area, and so on). Then you just bypass the fight and go on your happy way. The fight will wait for ya and the scene will trigger when you finally get by.
You can also jump into the grove with a high strength character that has Enhanced Leap
I love you videos :) Not sure if you're aware, but if you use improvised melee weapon you can target a creature and throw them on the ground far from you, you can cancel the action (using right click) mid-walk, which basically lets you move npcs around.
Additionally, I know this'll take a lot more time, but I wonder what'll happen if you recruit Halsin in act two then go back to talk with Nettie as Halsin?

If you enter Act 1 after Halsin and/or Minthara become playable party members, then they just won't be available and you'll get their inventory packed into backpacks and sent to your own inventory. You can't play them or send items to them from Act 1 but they'll function normally again once you re-enter Act 2.
Source: me traveling back between the 2 acts to get stuff I missed. IDK if people have found some weird strat that otherwise makes it possible tho
I will note that a round is 6 seconds. So I'm shocked that you were able to distort time by fighting those goblins in the cave, talk to people and steal the gloves from zevlor in 6 seconds before helping lae'zel!

Yeeees, and if you want to roleplay being good you can just betray her in the end
It should also be noted that this is also somewhat of a double-edged sword. Either passing the checks or using a Drow disguise will reward exp for passing the area via checks, but Sazza doing the work for you results in no exp (interestingly, it makes sense since Sazza is denying the party any persuasion/combat experience they'd develop via doing it themselves). Saving Sazza is safer, but also comes with a bit of a penalty for how safe she makes goblin camp contact.
Oh that's cool that using a drow disguise still gets you the XP. I played as a drow in my third run, but I don't remember if I got any experience from just using my drow-ness to force my way through

If you fast travel while midway through carrying an npc as part of using them as an improvised weapon they will teleport with you. You can also just cancel the attack after carrying them as long as you do it just before reaching the location you clicked to attack and it will drop them at the location you cancelled at. The best part is that neither of these count as you attacking that character too.
Whoah, I'm editing a druid experiment video right now where I tried to drag Arabella's dead body over to her parents but I couldn't get it to work (I got stuck by the door) but the waypoint could help with that! For some reason, I kept leaving her behind - is it not enough to click on an NPC using improvised weapon? Or do you have to click on them, then click on a different point on the map, and before you throw them down hurry and click the waypoint?
@@erininsoup You have to click them, click a point (preferably far away to give you as much time as possible) to throw them on the ground at and then quickly fast travel while your character is making their way to the point you clicked to throw them down at after having visibly picked up the NPC.
I've never tried it on dead bodies though so I'm not sure what happens then.

What happens if you steal and then drink the wyvern poison before meeting Nettie?
Hmmm so you can't actually drink it you can only coat it to use as a weapon (unless you're poisoning the goblin camp) but she doesn't react if you do it off-screen, but thanks to you I just learned that if you spark a conversation with Nettie inside her office but kill Tav before Nettie says anything, then resurrect Tav and talk to Nettie again, she'll act as if she poisoned you even when you're fine. She also has two lines I've never heard her say in the other versions, and Gale wanted to speak to me after.
As an FYI I do not believe that jumping up the cliff would have worked to avoid the fight even if it was possible, I summoned a bird and had it fly up the cliff and that also triggered the fight, so the trigger is way bigger than you would think

i like flying on the roofs and slipping in through balconies in the city... (Philgrave, Steelwatch) what i had to play around with the camera to find the right ancles to get where i wanted to....
as i rarely play as gaseos form or little animal but more with flying ability...
and just shadow step through walls... it was such a find that made me so happy - that you can play things you just see and are not highlighted in the game... so proud of finding that you can shadowstep through holes in walls... like into the arcane tower cellar or outer entrence of the Orin dungeon... at the time i know 3 ways into the cellar of arcane tower and lets says 4-5 ways into the Orin dungeon first door... (being assissin and bring hands, deliver any dead body, the body there, any blood sacryfice just being bloodied, and shadowstep into the chamber above)
just a shame i didn't find a way around the inner door till now...
and so surprised as i lately played a druid and found out the statues in the grove don't attack me if i transform into a wolf... and still allways hard for me to get that bear of the elevator from above.. the fishes i throw just disapear instead of luring him away... only found that mage hand works till now...

@@erininsoup yeah was proud of that find... didn't know how to open the first Orin door, then saw the crack in the wall and the box in front of it... thought that must be some hint... moved the box so that when i stepped up i had an imaginary line of sight onto the dark floor in that upper room... and voila - it worked... - arcane tower just a few steps up, and on can step through the crack in the wall behind the oven... no need to learn poems 😄

@@erininsoup Yeah he did 😭. He tried to attack a different goblin and took like 3 opportunity attacks. I think that character was cursed cause then two of her allies proceeded to die in the Harpy fight.
Random idea, after killing Sazza, Arka (crossbow tiefling) decides to go solo the goblins by herself, but doesn't get past the goblins in the first area, the one where they try to ambush you. What if you were to kill all the goblins in that area before letting her kill Sazza, then going back, see her kill Sazza, and head back to that goblin place? Would she still be dead?
Ooooh, that's such an interesting question - definitely never thought about this before, as I didn't know Arka heads that way after Sazza. I'll definitely have to give this a try in the future - thank you 💛

You did not enter combat in the grove because you were hidden from sight. Characters who start a combat sequence while hidden will not enter combat themselves.
You missed one w/ Sazza... you almost had it too. After you get her sent to the spiders you *can* save her before she's thrown into the pit, and only have to deal with the two guards there. This will give a new conversation w/Sazza (and I believe an achievement... something about saving Sazza again, and again). She rewards you with her loot (no unaliving her necessary) thanks you and then leaves... sadly I do *not* know if she reappears later if you successfully save her as I'm still in act 1 on that run and it took me 5 attempts to save her (the guards tend to focus on shoving her off, so you pretty much have to go first in combat and take them both out quickly)
Ooooooh thank you for detailing what happens for me!! I can't believe I gave up on that one after accidentally killing lil Sazz with the cloud of daggers. I wonder if the loot she gives you is the same one you get if you intervene on her behalf with Minthara. Either way, super cool there's an achievement for that route!!
In my first play-through, I didn’t talk to Arka or Sazza at all. Later on, I found Sazza dead in the cell. Seems like Arka always kills her.

I always save sazza 3x in the run, it's quite challenging and not something I'd bother in honor mode if I'd ever play but it always feels rewarding. I don't know, I adore Sazza. I wish she appears act 3 again. in my recent play I found a way to avoid grove fight and went to get karlach instead Upon return I realise no fight ever broke loose, there were no pouches of dead villains or heroes. No blood trails.....nothing! Which also means missing out on gloves of power. Of course Wyll was sneaking in my camp to surprise Karlach so he wasn't around............ only thing that did happen was zevlor+aradin. but from outside if a new player would accidentally take this route they'd have no idea what happened/a fight ever occured.
Sazza should have been a companion and romance option, imo.
A tier opinion
If you don't stop Arka from killing Sazza, when she leaves, you can find her dead body on a cliff across the chasm with view to the temple where the goblins are having their party, after Blighted Village. So stopping her rage saves her life. :)
If you "gatekeep" Sazza with Minthara, she gives us a cool magic knife, so if you are hunting items you can't get other way, that's a plus. :)
Finally, Netty is a stupid druid, so I find it's better to just kill her and get the magical diadem (Nature+1) she carries, that is also the key to the doors in that room. You can barter with her for both the Elixir of SIlvanus and the poison when you are talking to her in the previous room.

what if you leave one party member holding up the fight and then go of to adventure ignoring that fight? and finish the act 1 with 3 party members lol
Love the idea - I don't think you could leave act 1 based on some experiments I did with Gale (your party has to be ready) but it'd be fun to try and see how far you could go. I did a little something similar in my next video with the druids!

Imagine if Kannon just opened the dang gate while there were no goblins in sight instead of arguing about protocol during what was obviously an emergency. Zevlor and Aradin got heated but the biggest one at fault was Kannon. Zevlor gets there late and is in shock before doing what Aradin said from the start and Halsin was the one who volunteered to go with the mercs on his own knowing the risks

Okay, maybe I just took the easiest way, but I saved Sazza a third time and the Journal said something about she now owes me big time? However, I'm not even close to Act II yet, so I don't know if rescuing her will have any consequences.
Was the third time with Minthara? (First cage, second the goblins in the secret tunnel) Or was there another opportunity I missed?
@@erininsoup No, it was Minthara. I basically sided with Sazza and knocked Minthara unconscious (which I am really interested on if that worked) and then saved her from the goblin that wanted to throw her down to the spiders. Then she thanked me and ran away. I would REALLY like to see her anywhere in Act II or III, that would be so cool. :D
