I remember this movie being widely popular when it came out. So I was surprised to learn that this movie has apparently become "terrible" at some point in history. I'll always like this movie and the ON LAND version! Which is "The PostMan"
Thanks for making these, man. This show has ignited my imagination since I was young and obviously still does. You keep makin’ em and we’ll keep watching’ em.
@@TheAtolltrangely I always saw him more like the wizard of oz but I guess there is more than a pinch of Leonardo da Vinci in the Wizard at least in the movie
Technically Gregor’s Dirigible is a Blimp, not an an actual Dirigible. A dirigible is a Lighter than air craft with a ‘Rigid Frame” holding the envelope together, such as the Hindenburg; a Rigid Air Ship, hence ‘Dirigible”. A Blimp is a lighter than air craft that relies solely upon the Lift Envelope to contain its Lifting agent and retain its own shape.
You should do a video on the Dryland! Like, what place on the present day earth is it? What was the society like there? And most importantly, what were Enola's parents like?
I 1000% agree! That would be a very good topic to explore, with a ton of questions to be answered! Thank you for the suggestions, I will for sure make a video on everything we know about Dryland soon!
Fun Fact: Hydrolysis of Salt Water creates Hydrogen gas and Chlorine gas, as the chloride in the salt water separates at the molecular level. Gregor likely used salt water, considering pure water's value as a resource. in other words, Gregor's lab is a floating WWI trench.
Just compared your very first video to this one- you’ve come a long way to improving your voiceover audio! Are you cleaning it up with built in tools in your video editor, or some other method (if you don’t mind me asking)? Great work, by the way!
Yeah, my very first video (Thunder Ski toy review) was a bit of a blunder! I forgot to change the batteries in my mic before I started recording. But, yes, the biggest thing I have learned from creating this channel, from a production stand point, is how to better record and read my scripts. I use Adobe Audition to "master" my audio in more recent videos.
i wouldn't call its fate at dryland a "wreck".. we see the gasbag behind the gondola and it seems intact. most likely Gregor vented most of the lifting gas in order to land, since he did not seem to have any other way to control the blimp's altitude. given that he would have been dealing with leaks the whole time, odds are he has at least some ability to electrolyze water to refill it on board (perhaps charged by the same power source that ran his propellers) so it is very likely he could refill it and use the airship to go back to the atoller society to spread the news. the gondola itself looks perfectly intact, so it was likely a fairly gentle landing, though probably one with little directional control due to the limited thrust and control surfaces, thus why it landed on the rocks at the water's edge and not further inland on the grass. (also the 2nd gondola seems like it would double as a boat, so even if he can't refill the gasbag, he could probably repurpose the gondola into a sailing boat easily enough.)
They never showed what powered the propellers. After all the complaining about fossil fuels, they probably realized nothing beat good old dinosaur blood. Circumnavigation of the globe has since been done by changing altitude & relying on the jetstream.
Haha, yeah, I have wondered the propellers are powered as well. Perhaps batteries charged by the windmill on the Atoll? Or gasoline as you suggested. Just not sure!
@@TheAtoll @The Atoll Its a nitpick but when you describe the Deacon and smoker's jetskis "diverging" on Enola around 8:45, it would mean seperate rather than converge, meaning to close in on a single point. But I'm watching this video for the second time, after the new atoll video because the whole channel is so great. So I'm only pointing it out to improve the video because I care, not tear it down. Thank you for all the great vids and podcast

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement! I'm currently sitting down to write the script for the next video as we speak!
Pretty cool that lighter than Aircraft do make a comeback in Waterworld. Gregor is definitely the equivalent of Leonardo da Vinci of Waterworld.
Yeah, for sure! I feel like if the Mariner and Gregor put their heads together they could have built some amazing inventions!

Oh, okay, good to know. I thought Dirigible and airship were interchangeable words. I didn't know it had to have an internal structure.

Excellent video! Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for watching Forrest!!!
Sorry I'm late, just finished watching right now, loved the Led Zeppelin easter egg. Another banger!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Its comments like these that encourage me to keep making more videos!

Your videos give me life. Amazing job, thank you for sharing!
Glad you like them! They're so much fun to make!
Awesome video!!!
Thanks Jeffrey!!

Oh yeah, totally! I hope that Gregor got to do some joy rides around Dryland once he got his dirigible back in the air!
Is it just me or does the base of the Dirigible looks like a foldable ladder with a chair placed on it!! :)
Oh yeah! Totally! I never noticed that

Gregor was probably bored as hell waiting for act 3 😂
Haha, very true! The Enforcer also disappears in the middle of the film
@TheAtoll I was gonna buy the movie on UA-cam but they only have the theatrical edition 🤔
Disappointing

Converge?

Aww, got it! Sorry for the mistake.
Didn't this movie cost like 300 million dollars???
Not quite that much, somewhere closer to 200 mil
@@TheAtoll that's still a lot of money.
good video but, Gondola, not Gondoela
Thanks! I had to look it up, but I believe both pronunciations are correct. I'm from the northeast of the US, so maybe it a regional thing.
