My 1990 300D is making a whining sound while idling and increases at higher rpms. Sounds like it's close to the torque converter
I have a 722.4 which causes a mild but still "wrong" seeming thump/bang 2-3rd and when selecting reverse-drive-reverse. I've changed one flex disc and the transmission mount with improvement. I wonder if they need to be broken in at all before this will go away.
Pierre hello. At the 3:00mins mark; the "Tiktiktik sound" at the rear you mentioned for the Secondary Pump...yes it does sound like that on my 722.3 trans for my 1994 C36 when i roll down my window i hear that sound on the rear part underneath. As if your scraping a spoon inside an empty tin can. Additional symptom experienced since yesterday is i think my trans went on limp mode. Shifts smoothly 1, 2, 3 on slow speed. But at higher speeds at 60 to 70kph it wont shift to 3rd anymore. I can hear a light toktoktok sound vibrating on my shifter lever. I have enough atf fluid. But have parked the car under my shed for more than a month but i run it once a week. Could this secondary pump be my issue now? No thuds or shudders, shifts smoothly just does not want to go to 3rd and 4th. Thank you Pierre for your time and patience always!
Have a 722.3 with a whine only in Neutral or Park. Completely quiet in drive and reverse. This seems really strange?
Hi, I have w140 300 se with 722.3 gearbox and especially on hard accelerations it becomes to screech just before gear change and screeches hard when it changes the second gear
check your right side engine mount..it might be collapsed
I have a 81 W126 SD with the 4th gear whine which starts at approx 60 kmh, but what really makes me wonder if my trans is rebuild-able or if I should just source another is in reverse the trans has nasty grinding sound that can be altered by adding or subtracting throttle pressure.
sounds to me like the number of shims in the rear clutch pack might be incorrect....or you may have a bad output shaft bearing
Intermittent transmission flare when vehicle hot and been sitting for 5mimutes then starts shifting normally please help lol
How about a thumping between 2-3 upshift on a 722.3? For an 89 300E. All other shifts are fine. Louder under harderish acceleration.
is the vacuum modulator leaking?
also, is your flex disc ok?
Oh hell! I never even considered the flex disc. Ill check it out after the window regulator is fixed...tks
Park and neutral whine normal?

722.1....4 bolt pan....used on all diesel and 6 cyl. w116 and w114/115

Symptom: trans whining in park and neutral at vareying pitch with rpm. Put it in drive and it stops whining until I start rolling again varying pitch but with speed. Car starts in first then jumps to third but I believe this is a totally deferent issue, B1? 1995 s500. ANY input is much appreciated. Trans is not original, changed the oil and filter awhile ago, nasty oil.
sounds like your front pump might be noisy. Also, the b1 piston seal is leaking if it skips 2nd gear. this can be accessed under the cover on the front right side of the trans.
Mines doing the same. Did you ever find a remedy?
