it's a pretty easy trans to rebuild. If you have the right literature. theres a manual on line.

I'd like to see one rebuilt !!!
I have a 1984 500 sec and the transmission is starting to go out on me. I've been looking for a 722.3 rebuild video for a bit now. Hope to see you guys do one.

I would LOVE to see the rebuild video!!! I haven't taken apart a transmission since auto tech school in '95! I prefer trans rebuild to engine. Just a preference.

thank you, my 722.3 will not go forward only reverse.
I changed the oil,filter and drained the tc.
same problem, installed a new modulator because the original wasn't holding vacuum.
I also adjusted the line pressure to 42 lbs. as required for this trans. it was set at 62 psi.
I do have vacuum of 22 inches at the vcv.
so after all that it still won't go forward. upon putting it in gear it does slightly nudge forward but totally slips after that.
I did have clutch material in the pan and drained oil
I am assuming I need to rebuild it.

Thanks for the video Pierre! I have a 722.118 that has been sitting for years. It has no leaks and the pressure is according to the manuals. The problem is that at times the pressure drops to zero and the exchange doesn't work. I changed the oil and filter, but the problem persists. It only works again when I accelerate above 3000rpm. Any suggestion?
Did you end up making that series of videos regarding the transmissions rebuild? If so, can I subscribe to them?

Everyone replace your kickdown switch it’s soooo easy to replace on our cars and it’s not to expensive it can get stuck and make your car shift at redline every time. So if you Change it, it might fix the problem.
i had a kd switch failure recently on a 380se...your advice is good.
What Transmission fluid do you recommend for 722.3
It's normal @3000rpm it's a 4 speed transmission but why does it flares when shifting from 2nd to 3rd @low rpm?
I have a 722.4 it shifts very late in 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4 i changed all fluids checked vaccums when it shift it pushes me forward with a weird bonk in the back if a throttle a little bit.If im full throttle every gear is smooth and nice but at high rpms...could a bad vaccum modulator do this?
I would ABSOLUTELY be interested in seeing a start-to-finish trans rebuild. My '84 300D has the same issue...
Re: the previous comment about audio...I agree. Pierre, I'm an audio engineer and would be happy to do pro bono audio post-processing work for you. In the case of this video, you've got some serious low frequency content caused by the wind that's triggering compression on either your recording device or your software (or both). I can help with this :-) Cheers!
