I am most interested in using the ski erg to train for actual nordic ski racing. I don’t think that all techniques for going “faster” (Your’e not really going anywhere.) on the ski erg translate to good, fast, and efficient technique on snow.
Awesome video. I’ve been debating on buying the rower vs skierg. My buddy swears by the skierg. This looks like a rough workout. I’ll probably go for the skierg and one day but a rower too haha
How can a smaller guy (77kg.) get a better time on a 100 meter sprint? Cannot get under 17.8. Damper setting 10, Watts 490 or so and stroke rate upper 50s. By the way, I'm 63.
Outstanding training video. Beach ball visual cue very helpful. When and when not to use sprint start also excellent. Now put together a two-dat- a-week program and I'll buy it!
Your videos are great, just subscribed :) In your one video you mentioned that rowing is 60% legs and 10% arms (and I assume the remaining 30% is core & back). You also suggested that beginners should to row at least twice a week to enjoy the benefits of rowing. So with that in mind, on the remaining 3 to 5 days, what other workouts would you recommend to complement rowing, in order to balance out the muscles that are otherwise neglected (the most obvious one being chest). Keep up the great work and cheers from South Africa :)
Hello South Africa! The 30% is actually hips/glutes, but nonetheless depending on your fitness level and looking at a full program we'd add 2-3 sessions of cross-training and 2-3 strength sessions with recovery (stretching, active recovery etc ) matching the volume of course. Best of luck! Thanks for watching.
I am interested in a progressive Skierg program geared toward preparing for Tour de Skierg. Like the commenter below, I also am interested in a program that combines rower and Skierg. Concept2 has a few of these type of workouts. I especially like the descending ladder interval one. Again, how to progressively build is where I seem to need help. Rowing and Skierg are new disciplines for me. I either go too hard on oworkout
Hey John! Are you looking for advice on volume/ratios for training on a hybrid program? If you're new to both the rower and the Skierg 2 days on each will be plenty. Focus on laying down a base for good movement instead of just volume or target. Main goals should be technique/consistency/intensity in this order and it will pay off on the long run. Hope this helps!
Hey dude! Warming up is usually low intensity. If you are working on a piece we suggest proper warming up then wait 3-5 minutes. During that time you can mentally prepare for the workout, rehearse the strategy one last time and bring down your HR a little so you won't "blow up" in the first part of the workout. If you're only practicing multiple sprint starts, 1:30 seems an appropriate break.
How about an instructional video on what to consider when determining the drag factor for the Skierg?
There is a ski machine at my local gym now, so excited to try it!! Thanks for the tips!!
Enjoy it Mon!
Would be great to have more tips on ski erg

Quality info, thank you !!

Get the skierg. Most gyms have rowers, but skiergs are harder to come by.
@@colleenr2 Good point. If you use both ... I can't imagine a better combo of machines ... SO complete
Thanks for the information!! 💪💪
Thank YOU Virgil! We hope the info helps.
Best of best

We've got one for rowing! How bout dat? Are you just interested in SkiErg?
Great Video!
Thanks so much for tuning in!
any plans for a row/ski-erg hybrid program?
Ah, excellent question. You never know what might come out of DHR headquarters! Stay tuned!
Really good info here. Thanks for posting.
Thanks so much for watching! We're glad you're here.
thanks Guy
I think the skierg is tougher than a rower
100% agree. It is a brutal machine.
Is the Skierg or rower harder than a Versaclimber?
it is, and there ar a lot of other positions that these vids don't show you, try using it backwards to really burn those triceps! xx
Any tips for a 1 minute sprint?
where can I get the T shirt that you wear ?
We hope to be offering them soon! Stay tuned to our website www.darkhorserowing.com

Sorry, I hit the wrong button. To finish my thought. I seem to either go too hard one day and not hard enough the next.

The article link for the 4 rowing tips from the email isn't working for me
So sorry about that. Totally my fault! Here is the link: wp.me/p7ueDm-qd
Does warming up "lose" it? If I "lose" it warming up, how long does it take to "recharge"? Thanks!

Couldn't find more than 4 SkiErg videos in your channel is that about right? Thought you guys are gonna make more SkiErg clips ....
Hey, Cisco! 4 is all we have right now. We are looking at making more in the future.
How you much?
Much how is the question you must ask.
Bicini
Please do better in condensing information. Too wordy. I have a Concept 2 rower & there's nothing like it.
I am a wordy coach Angel. I hope you still find value in what we're saying.
