I think this is the best video I’ve seen from your channel so far since I came across. Starting to jump into color grading and this video definitely shows tons of value. It completely change how I will look at scenes on movies from now on and have references for future projects. Thanks a lot. 🙌🏻
The interesting thing is Jill pushed the skin tones cyan often when the backgrounds were red but orange when the backgrounds were cyan. That's honestly kinda brilliant I would never be that bold.
This reminds me of referencing audio when doing a mix. This did connect the dots on how to create a library and how to use it. I was just collecting screenshots and putting them in a folder and then dropping them on a timeline. This is super valuable! Thank you! 👍🏼
I like what you're doing here, this makes a lot of sense to look at other peoples work and check out the scopes, I never really thought about doing this!
3:46 Thank you Qazi. I've been trying to figure out how you do before and afters for a hot minute, and I'm so glad you added the keyboard shortcut there. You're the best!
@@theqazman I can’t wait to enroll in your course! I’ve got some client work lined up now through January that’s gonna allow me to invest back into my skill set and you’re at the top of my list! Love this Qazi, so helpful to know what you're looking for when looking at a gorgeous image and your thought process, would love to see more videos like this one, thanks Qazi!
Amazing video, amazing work and a great way to explain that we need Scopes always in our job. "Scopes never lies", is what a i told to my students. Thnx for your videos. They are a must in grading world.
The exercise at the end of the video was the best thing I have learned to do with my footage. Thank you very much for your work, and valuable things that you deliver to us!
1:43 - I know this isn't the objective of the video but holy hell that's a massive TIL there Qazman. I can now include that as part of my review process for my team's wedding films. Thanks a bunch for showing that.
Love your videos, such a great source of knowledge. Just joined the FCM and looking forward to diving into that. Would love to see a video where you do a breakdown of the “New” orange and teal look :)
Superb video! I just noticed, the scene where the other hotel owner in introduced is a similar colour blocking and progression of colours found in the Paris church courtyard scene !!! The cool blue and shadows then at the end, the deep red orange sunrise! This vid is soo good thank you
I have a question, in many videos I saw that the inicial video before any coloring was desaturated but my camera (Canon Eos Rebel T6) doesn't have that profile and I freeze thinking how do I even start the same process you are teaching, I know I can download "free" footage but what about when my only tool doesn't have the Clog or AppleRes resolution? Thanks.
Qazi, you should watch The Green Knight and The Northman. You would enjoy them so much you won't be able to avoid wanting to talk about them here in the channel.
Love your work. Thank you. About to sign up for your master class! You know that Joker scene when he’s been beaten and lying in the ally? Trying to emulate that scene!! Show us how brother!!
That quick photo of trump 10 seconds in......LOVE IT hahahahhahahahah! dude you just put out straight fire. You literally converted me from an adobe user to a Resolve user so fast. I feel like resolve is THE BEST software out there. Forget the color grading, we all know at this point its become the standard for color grading. But editing too? I cant go back to Adobe anymore

Im curious why people dont use Srgb as timeline color space? Since thats how its gonna look when exported and on the internet? Or am i missing something by not using rec709?
Hey, I have an urgent question/problem. In Davinci Resolve 18 I often integrate CST nodes into my node tree (last or second to last node). The way I see it tutorials is that after transforming the clip correctly to REC709 the nodes prior are also displayed as 709 instead of the low contrast and low saturation log image. But in my case most of the time it is not happening and I still see that LOG image and if I add more contrast and saturation the first node looks fine but when it comes to the CST node everything is way too punchy because all the corrections seem to be on top of the transformed 709 image. Sometimes it’s working but most of the time it’s not. What am I doing wrong?
Hello! Thanks for the top content) I have a question. Do you think, this is a film level of saturation? Or it is just for a youtube trailer? I mean, color density might be different in the final result... I compared trailer from John Wick 3 with the movie - difference is there. Do you think, it is worth exploring?)
I don't think it's just for the trailer. I also, noticed the same levels of saturation with John Wick 3 and I had ripped that straight from the Blu ray.
Hey I noticed you say you have tutorial on how to bring things in and out of Davinci from FCPX? Where is that? I never saw that and have been asking for a long time following your channel. Specially with Sony footage which is a "nightmare" because of the timecode problems. The whole process of having to reimport the media and then 0000 out the time code in each clip is such a pain. This has been a problem for over 10 years and cannot understand why Blackmagic has NOT fixed that yet. I would and I imagine many would love to be able to work in FCPX export xml to Resolve, color grade and back to FCPX. But as it is, it is a PIA literally. I end up grading 90% of my work with color finale or other tools in FCPX because of the hassle, problems, mis read scaling etc etc when trying it in Resolve.
@@theqazman Pretty sure I have watched everyone from your site, will check again, Thanks! Would still love to see a workflow video that works here on your channel if you get a chance, I bet more than half of your followers are using Sony cameras if not more. Just checked them again? Mr. Qazi, why not you take few Indian Films (especially Tamil film trailers) and breakdown the grades ? It would be better for all people what's happening in the other film worlds.
It's sad, but soon AI will be able to apply almost every look to your footage. Everyone will be able to just download a look and apply it on whatever footage. The only people surviving this trend will be people who initially create the looks. Very very soon. Photographers I know already doing it.
