22LR For SHTF

About 13:30 you mention having a utility gun in 22lr. That's my take, trail gun pistol or very tiny 22lr carbine for; critters, cameras, booby trap probing, popping windows to enter cars/buildings or make diversions (assuming you do it where the gunshot and glass breaking echo, it can sound like multiple shooters and more than .22lr), light popping, sentry removal as a last resort (it's probably okay for small dogs but they'd really have to be under 30lbs to count on DRT)..... or the rare opportunity for combustible containers (WD40 can go crazy as gasoline if there is a flame source around) like videogame gloryshots.

Henry AR-7 survival rifle, or a newer version of the M6 would be a solid consideration too here especially in SHTF versatility

I personally would rather go with an AR or something with a more modern rifle round/magazine. That said if it’s what you got or can get then go for it. Learn to use it, get a method to load it fast, with a way to carry spare ammo

The very good 22lr conversion unit for the AR-15 has been around for 50 years, has sold half a million unit's I've written about 1000x and people STILL act like it doesn't exist. With a 20 second parts-swap, you can have 223, or 22lr, so why would you choose JUST the rimfire, or JUST a centerfire. It'll group 2" or better at 50m, with the POI, point of impact, of the two types of ammo being at MOST 2" apart at that distance. So it has plenty of accuracy for foraging small game , or braining men, dogs, hogs or deer to 50m, or cattle or horses to 20m (temple hits ONLY) and only with the 60 gr subsonic Aquila 22 ammo, You must have a short barrel . night sights, night vision, trigger job, scoped option, 60 gr Noslar Partiiton softpoints in the 223. If shtf, you cant be out and about in daylight. You can't have a fire in daylight. You cant show a light at night and you can't be making noise. Doing those things will get you shot. It's quite easy to make a jury-rigged, still effective silencer for a 22lr rifle and that rig is lethal to 125m You wont hear it from 50 FEET away if the bolt is held shut and subssonic 22 ammo is used.

most people that you shoot, post shtf, will have 22lr or 223 ammo or both. and probably 9mm too, altho that's not as helpful, since pistols done mean much once the longarms come out
